Description of Work: Mr Pfeil was not punctual with the start dates and returns dates when promised several times. He was contracted to lay a paver patio but when he brought the pavers to the job they were not correct nor close to what was requested. He then laid stone and built a planter/bench. His grout work is amateur at best and his crew is very unskilled in laying brick and reading a level. I had to constantly baby sit their work and fortunately held back money so they had to return three times to finally get the water to run off correctly and not puddle on the patio. I would not trust their word and their quality is not very professional when it comes to a quality finish. They also managed to damage personal property, shrubbery and did a mediocre job of cleaning up after themselves. I would not recommend them for any work on my home and fortunately I was there to monitor and correct their poor craftsmanship and attention to detail.

We recently discovered that the work was not up to code, and Mr. Pfeil did not have the required permits despite posting an empty permit sign in our carport to convince anyone passing by (and us) that he had pulled the permits. He constantly asked us for payments not specified in the contract throughout the project, and asked multiple times for money to order supplies we had already paid for - apparently he could not keep all his stories straight. He would promise to be here on a certain day, and not show up for a week. He performed much of the work we wanted to inspect when we were not at home. He often claimed to "forget" things that he had agreed to do, even when specifically written in the contract. When confronted with a list of things he failed to do, he hung up the phone during the conversation. This project was a nightmare from beginning to end, and our family will be living with the repercussions of this individual's shady business practices for a long time to come.
Description of Work: Mr. Pfeil was under written contract to build a retaining wall with stone veneer, outdoor fireplace and kitchen, in addition to clearing our property of brush and other landscaping work. Mr. Pfeil stated that he was a licensed general contractor and bonded/insured, which is also stated on the company website he works through. However, Mr. Pfeil is not a licensed general contractor and did not pull permits for any of the work performed, which was required since the contract exceeded $30,000. The work was to be completed within a month, and 2 1/2 months later remains unfinished. Mr. Pfeil did not complete the work to our specifications, did work we did not authorize and tried to charge extra for these "projects" he invented, inflicted damage to our property including to two very large trees, and continued to ignore requests from us throughout the project (such a putting up a required silt fence), so we terminated the project when it was clear he did not intend to complete the work.
