interior painters

Description of Work: Our Contractor for new home on Lake Wylie in York SC uses this painting service so he did exterior (hardisiding) and interior of our new lakefront home. I met with him and he is very friendly and talks a big game and initially when he started work VERY responsive! I gave him a spreadsheet of Sherwin Williams colors I wanted and his preference is Porter Paints so I bent and said ok because I'm from this area and he assured me colors would be same. Initially I was very pleased with their work. There were alot of "timing issues" building home and it began to feel like he was pushing to get others to finish their work so he could finish, but I can tell you lots of cut corners! LOTS of wainscoting in our home and he "assured" the Builder and us there were FOUR coats of Charleston White (SW color) on it but we could still see wallboard ... I can buy missing spots once, maybe twice, but there is NO WAY you miss coverage with 4 coats! I can tolerate alot but not someone who isn't being honest! I got to the point I told the builder to just get him out of our home,!!! I'm going to be painting things for some time myself! Not a drop of paint on top of door and window trim and I guess he didn't think I'd get on floor and look at bottom of window trim - very little if any paint!! Early on given I was pleased I suggested my son who was selling his home in Rock Hill to get an estimate or interior painting from Curtis which he did along with 2 others - Curtis' quote was $600. higher so he went with another company who did a great job!!

 + 0 moreCurtis Talley Painting arrived promptly as scheduled and went straight to work. Curtis is very personable and made us feel very comfortable with them doing this work, so comfortable that we asked them to do additional work while they were here. This was a mistake, I should have waited until we saw the final results before asking about additional work. I assumed that I would be happy and get the best possible price if they could work on all of it at once. Very long story cut short, due to the painters complete lack of concern and attention to detail, EVERYTHING was painted in a very short time and we'll be cleaning overspray, drips, runs and redoing molding caulking forever! One elaboration; although they sprayed the interior primer and ceilings, nothing was covered. There was overspray on absolutely everything, air diffusers, air return cover, windows (inside and out) and door hinges. Everything is someone else's poor workmanship or I'm "too particular". After seeing his attention to detail, I questioned his ability to stain and clearcoat the stairs, not something that could easily be fixed. Thankfully, Curtis bowed out, once again citing that I was "too particular".
Description of Work: We recently had an addition put on our house. Curtis Talley Painting was brought in by our contractor to do all of the painting. Our exterior is Hardi board with some cedar shakes. The interior is basic sheetrock with standard molding. Oak stairs were to be stained and top-coated with poly.
