Provided with a reasonable estimate and scheduled work. First the painter called and asked to reschedule to following week. No problem. Then he failed to show up or call on appointed days. Called Certapro and got follow-up call from franchise owner who apologized. Said painter had been terminated and he would reschedule work with another painter and call me back next day. That was 9 days ago...and still no call back from the owner. This was not a big job, so apparently it was not very important to them. A total waste of my time dealing with Certapro.

So where do I begin with this story. We moved and needed to get our old house sold, so we wanted to have the interior freshly painted before we listed the house. We picked CertaPros, since they are supposed to be professionals. We did not even bother to get other estimates, since these guys are supposed to be the best, and we wanted the job done right, and in a timely manner. The estimate called for 4 days to complete the job. To make a very long story short, 3 weeks, many walk thru’s, and the place is a mess. No drop cloths were used, or masking tape. There are paint splatters everywhere, paint on the carpet, half the closets did not get painted, and over-paint on the ceilings. Overall, it’s the most unprofessional job I have ever seen. We have contacted the corporate office, but I’m not sure if they can resolve any of these problems, since CertaPro locations are franchises. Listing the house anyway, and I will have to complete the clean up, and repair damaged areas myself. 3 weeks for a 4 day job, and still did not get it completed, and left a mess. Get estimates from other companies, and avoid CertaPro at any cost!

Overal good job. Details were missed and had to have they come back 2 time to complete. Very responsive but still 2 weeks latter see thingds that were over looked.
Description of Work: They were quick to get my job scheduled. The crew was professional and did a good job. They cleaned up everything afterward. Gave advice on the type of paint that would get the results that I wanted.

Vincent came and photographed the exterior of the home and presented a full estimate immediately and also emailed the proposal. The work was scheduled for approximately 2 weeks later. We had several rain delay days but with each day that they could paint, they worked until done. The exterior of the house was transformed and looks great. This is the 2nd time we have used Certapro of Rock Hill.

I have used this company before with excellent customer service from Joe. I have no idea but something changed with this company in the year since I used them before. I hired them with no other quotes due to the extreme professionalism, customer service and fair pricing that I received from Joe. I think some type of franchising thing must have occurred since then. I called Joe, but Vince called me back to do the job. I think "his" company is Certa Pro of Rock Hill. He was very nice and accomodating and made all kinds of commitments regarding the quality of his work and making reparations until i was satisfied if there were any issues. The entire process was a disaster. Firstly, I had just paid thousands of dollars to build a new tiled master bathroom (new tiled shower, floors, granite countertops, new toilet, fixtures, sink etc.). The hall bath got the same except the shower/tub remained. When Vince's crew was finished there was paint splatter and over-paint on darn near every NEW item that I had just paid for but had not even used yet! Door knobs and hinges were overpainted with trim color, the granite backsplash had paint on it. They missed large sections of the trim around the toilet room door. They painted the silicone caulking between the backsplash and wall, but not consistently so it looks squiggly. They did not remove the light fixtures on the wall. As such, they got paint on all the light globes, as well as the metal housing where it attaches to the wall. They didn't paint under it so after fix 1 and then fix 2 when they re-attached them but still did not paint under them, old paint can be seen as the fixture was not replaced exactly in the same spot. Vince said they taped, but I showed him a wavering line on my tile in the hall bath where the paint dipped down onto the tile (he later admitted there was not taping everywhere when I gave him a personal tour). They painted the hall bath ceiling by mistake and did not paint the hall bath trim at all. Vince later told me that I did not tell him to do it. That is a lie. I told him that i wanted the hall bath painted, periold. I did not give any exclusions. Using his logic he could have painted the trim and not the walls and said that I did not say I wanted the walls painted. When I said I wanted the master bath painted he asked did I want the ceiling painted. As such you start at 100% and exclude from there. Bottom line, they forgot and he was trying to cover. The only thing I excluded was the hall bath ceiling. When he came back to fix things the second time, I met him and told him I wanted the trim painted and I would PAY if he did not put it on the original quote. They forgot to paint the trim AGAIN! They also did not completely remove all the paint that was on darn near every surface that butted up against where they were supposed to paint. They did not cover my fixtures. I found splatter on granite, window blinds, the new toilet, inside the sinks etc. etc. When he came back I gave him a list and showed him all the issues he needed to resolve. After waiting almost 2 weeks for him to come back, hHe did not resolve all the issues and then said he was not able to meet my standards and did not have a flashlight to see what I could see. Before he showed up the second time, I emailed him and requested to speak to him and confirm the date that he would be showing up to fix things. He never called nor responded to my email. He just showed up to my house, without my permission, let himself in, and started working. No one called me at work to state the re-work was finished so I could check. My emai lalso requested that my now newly carpeted upstairs (which I held off installing until painting was over) and all my fixtures be protected this time. I stopped by my house at lunch - my brand new carpet, nor any of my fixtures were covered per my request. I found one of his painters standing on my brand new granite vanity doing something to the light fixture. When I worked with Joe he told me the guys were coming by upfront to do prep work, he sent over his decorator so i could pick colors in my house. He presented me with a bottle of wine upon job completion. Vince did not come by for prep work, made me go to Sherwin to pick my own colors, didn't live up to his commitment to fix things properly, and certainly did not give me any wine. When I complained about the second fix he said he could not live up to my standards and that was it but I got a $100 discount!! This was not a discount. I paid 100% of the bill he presented me with the day the initial job was finished. He came back later saying he had a billing/estimating error and was $100 short, but he would not charge me!! These painting errors still exist today and Vince has moved on after blowing me off. I don't know what happened to this company or to Joe. I do know I will NEVER use them again. If you use them, DO NOT PAY THEM ONE penny until you have inspected the work thoroughly. Demand that painters tape is used everywere and that all fixtures are removed from the wall and others are covered. Demand they inspect their work and not you. Read every item on your paint list because or things will be fixed/forgotton. If not you will get the shoddy job that I got. By the way, this is not me being picky. After he came by for the second fix he admitted that the work was sloppy and needed to be fixed. He told me 100 times not to worry and he would fix everything. He did not. He simply did not spend the necessary time to fix everything nor did he properly inspect the work. It annoys me that I have to be the supervisor on their job to find HUGE things like paint on door knobs. If any Certa manager, franchisor, customer service person etc. other than Vince wants to come by and determien if this is me being picky or them being horrible painters and supervisors they can call me. I stand by every word in this review.
