The work was completed looking great and cleanup was immaculate - difficult job because the old film had to be removed prior to replacing with new film. It was explained Premier is highly recommended by 3M - that they do most of 3M's warrenty business. Premier clams to be an approved company for film installation at Carolina Lakes (Sun City). After the work was completed I received a warranty certificate directly 3M. My wife was happy not only with the work but also that credit cards are accepted.
Description of Work: Jonathan replaced 20 year old 3M window film on several windows that was bubbling and otherwise looking unattractive. Jonathan explained that the adhesive utilized by 3M 20 years ago did not hold up. As we are not the original owners of our home 3M would not honor the 20 year old warranty. .

Michelle responded to my request for a quote very promptly. She was very knowledgeable about her product and was helpful in choosing the right film for our office. Jonathan did an excellent job removing the old film and installing the new and was very professional in his work. They were on time for each visit and were great to work with. I would definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone.

They were prompt and courteous in scheduling the appointment. The installer showed up at the scheduled time and did a nice job of installing the film and putting my furniture back into place. The price was very competitive as I checked with another installer that I am friends with.

Michelle Minardi the owner came out to give me an estimate. She was on time, very professional and a pleasure to talk with. Explained everything very well. When I decided to do only one set of windows and wait on the other, she did not pressure me at all to do both. She took her time explaining and talked a little about the company. Very nice and easy to deal with. On the day of install the guy took great care with not bumping into other furniture, careful while placing his ladder, etc. Very nice and professional as well. I will use them again as soon as possible. I have already noticed a reduction in the amount of heat I have in my family room and the tint is not too dark. Also, received a discount for Angies members.

Installation of residential window film by Carolina Premier Window Films, Inc of Fort Mill, SC Details and facts. There was one installer who took 3 full days to do the job. 1. The wrong film was applied to the home. This was noticed at the very end of the last day. It turns out the installer was given the wrong film by the owner Michele Minardi to install. Michele admitted it is the wrong film. When it came time to pay Michele asked me what I thought. I suggested that I pay for the installation, salesman commission and tax. It was agreed that I would not pay for the film nor the profit to Carolina Premier for installing the wrong film. Michele agreed. Also at this point I agreed to and quot;try the darker filmand quot;. 2. After 2 weeks we noticed many tiny bubbles beneath the window film and reported it to the salesman. We were told it would go away and to wait 4 weeks. I met with two interior design professionals and two home contractors who all saw the work. They all said it is poor quality and most needs to be replaced. 3. At 5 weeks I notified the company rep Jonathan Hiatt again who said wait a couple more weeks. 4. At 7 weeks I contacted Jon again and he came out to the house and said some of the film would need replacement. He would contact Michele and get back to me. There was no response. 5. Around 10 weeks as the bubbles increased and the job looked even worse, I contacted Jonathan again and he said he would let Michele know and someone would get back to me. No response. 6. Late December 2012 I contacted Jon again and no response. 7. In January 2013 I contacted the 3M Warranty line in Minneapolis. Shortly thereafter Michele called me to inquire about the problem. It was explained to her. She did not want to see the work herself. I asked her about having someone from 3M review the work and windows at my home. 8. February 2013. Pam from Southern Films Distribution reviewed the work and said all was fine. The dozens of bubbles in most of the windows was deemed OK by her and she recommended no action. She also said 3M agreed with her assessment. She does not work for 3M. (When I learned this was in fact not a 3M representative I asked for an evaluation by a 3M person.) 9. In March Jim Passage who is the 3M rep for our area and who lives in Buffalo, NY saw the work. He said some 10 to 20 windows needed to have film replaced. This is less then 10% of the job. I disagreed. 10. In April Michele informed me that before any warranty work would be done I needed to pay the remaining balance on my account, about $2200. This was for the film, the wrong film that was installed. She insisted I agreed to keeping the film. This is incorrect. There is nothing to support this claim. Different film then what is on the contract remains upon my home. 11. Separately in June 2013 I needed to have film placed on two other smaller window areas of the home. I contacted another company and had window film installed. This film looks terrific, has no noticeable bubbles and is staying on the glass. This company said the initial work on my home is and quot;unacceptableand quot; and needs replacement. 12. I now know what film that is applied correctly should look like. The initial window film does not look anything close. ................................... CONCLUSIONS regarding the installation of Residential Prestige 3M film by Carolina Premier Window Film, Inc. A. Understand the warranty is with 3M BUT they expect the vendor (who they control through franchise payments) to manage the warranty unless there is something unusual. 3M pays for the replacement film but the vendor does the rest. B. The installation company decides if warranty work should be done NOT 3M. Check out the installation company very carefully. C. A 3M warranty is for protection of the vendor and NOT the consumer. This even after a vendor installs the wrong window film AND does a terrible job at installation AND provides minimal no service. D. In my case 3M is backing Carolina Premier who demands I pay another $2200 for the wrong film so that I may receive warranty work. This is months after all payments were made and agreed upon (see below). E. There is no dispute it is the wrong film installed. F. I am unsure if 3M is really worth it. I thought so which is why I chose their product. My experiences says otherwise. G. Say far away from Carolina Premier Window film. Very far away.
Description of Work: Placement of Prestige Residential 3M tint upon many windows of the home. I’ve heard learned through this communication that Carolina Premier has offered to replace all the film with the correct film. When I have requested this be done there is no response again from Michele Minardi at Carolina Premier. I find this outrageous and ask for help to resolve this problem of the wrong window film that was installed incorrectly throughout my home.

Response from CAROLINA PREMIER WINDOW FILMS INC
I offered to switch the film to the correct shading on several occasions and the member declined. He has not paid me for the work. I was willing to go to the repairs as the member, 3M and myself discussed once he pays me for the installation. I will not be refunding him. He got a $3800 job for $1580.

Michelle Minardi and her associates arrived early for our scheduled appointment. The film application took less time than she originally told us during the estimate meeting. Air bubbles appeared in the film at the conclusion of the application but she told us that was to be expected, and should clear up with 45 days. 8 weeks had gone by when i followed up with Michelle for the second time ( husband initially followed up around three or four weeks, and was told to wait to see if the air bubbles would work themselves out.)

These folks are AWESOME! The back of our house 11 windows) faces West-Southwest and gets brutaly hot in the summer. Our electric bill in the summer was running in the $350.00 range per month. After the film was installed, it cut our power bill in half! We also recieved rebates in the form of tax deductions on our federal income taxes. The tinting payed for itself in just a few months. I would do this again in a heartbeat! Awesome product and great A+ service!

We have East/West exposure in most rooms of our house, and the heat through our insulated windows was driving up the cooling bill. We were also concerned about fading of furniture and fabrics due to the strong sunlight. Jonathan was punctual, followed up on some requests for specialty privacy films, and explained exactly how the process would be managed. We had a concern about the installers working around expensive draperies in the house, and were assured that they would not be harmed by the work on and around the windows. We also wanted to make sure that nobody outside the house would be able to tell that this work had been done -- we did not want a cheap, mirrored appearance on our windows from the outside. We also wanted to be sure our window warranties would not be voided, and that the seals of our double-pane windows wouldn't crack. I've waited about 6 months to do this review, and I can say that the job was worth the price. Carolina Premier did a great job. The installers kept everything clean and were very careful around the drapes -- my windows were cleaner when they were done than they were when we built the house. The effect of the heat-rejecting film was immediate. Temperatures in the house (in August) got so much cooler that we had to adjust the upstairs and downstairs thermostats repeatedly over the course of 3 days. The only outward change to appearance is that the windows are slightly darker. The effect is a dramatically better appearance to the glass. There is no mirror-like quality from the outside -- they are just a hint darker than the neighbors' windows, and it really has dressed up the appearance of the house. While that wasn't our objective, it was a very nice unexpected benefit. This treatment is nothing like what you might get at a hardware store. It's incredibly professional with no bubbling or peeling or embedded hairs or anything like that. The materials used in these films have not affected the integrity of the windows, and 3M provides a warranty at any rate. When you do this, be assured that nobody will be able to tell that it was done, except you and the electric company.
