It was an awful experience. I used Brothers twice in the past and was satisified but this time my experience was terrible. My unit was totally fine until one day, it just immediately started blowing hot air. I called Brothers and they came out right away. The technician said I was very low on freon and needed a piece from my compressor unit replaced. He also sold me this $395.00 fluid that he said should stop small leaks in the evaporator coil and would work well on my unit since I had some "small cracks" in the coil. He also wanted to sell me another part for my compressor because he said the rating on my part was 32.10 and it should be 35 +/- 10% so my part was under the tolerance. Well if you do the math, 35 - 10% is 3.5 and that from 35 is 31.50. Since my part is 32.10 that's in the tolerance range. I think he is in need of a basic math lesson. Anyway, one hour, repeat one hour after he left, the unit was blowing hot air again. Brothers couldn't come out until noon the next day, Saturday, so I waited for the tech and actually had to delay my trip one day because of this and had to pay an additional 65.00 in hotel fees. The tech who came out was very nice and very knowledgeable and showed me the large crack in my coil. He also said half of the freon he put out from the day before was gone due to this large crack. It's beyond me that the first tech didn't see this large crack and charged me 778.00 to repair this obvious unrepairable unit. I called Brothers on Monday and the manager was kind enough to refund half of my money. Actually, she refunded the money I paid for that "crack repair" fluid. Never buy this stuff. I wrote an email to Brothers asking them that I feel another $200.00 should be refunded to me but I never heard back. I wound up replacing my unit from ARS, which are great and had the best price. I wouldn't even have Brothers give me an estimate after the terrible experience I had with them. I'm considering contacting the BBB for the rest of my money.
Description of Work: Technician filled unit with freon, added "leak stop" fluid for the coil and changed piece on compressor.

Brothers was one of 3 companies from whom I got an estimate on replacing my heat/AC gaspak system, due to a hole in the heat exchanger. The salesman was knowledgeable and not hard sell at all. Their estimate was in line with their competitors - right in the middle, in fact. The work was very professionally done; they added a high end digital thermostat and an ultra-violet air treatment unit to the system at no extra cost and they made follow-up service call a week later to be sure everything was running correctly. They also pulled a permit and had the electrical work inspected by the county. All-in-all I am very happy with the job and the dual-fuel system I bought. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to others.

Staff was friendly and prompt in returning my call. I called because of an ad in the paper for a 25% discount on 2009 models. The special had expired but I asked if they had any product left that qualified for this discount. I was called the next day and told they did so I asked for an estimate. Oddly enough, the service tech who came out told me I could not get the discount because the offer had expired. The overall experience could have been better. First I was not told the service tech would need to be at my home for 2 hours so I did not allow enough time for his visit. The scheduler called the next day and rescheduled the service tech's visit for the following Friday at 2 p.m. I came home early from work and received a 1:30 phone call from the scheduler telling me she made a mistake and that the service tech could not arrive until 4:30. I told her he would need to come another time. He came the following Monday. The service tech reviewed the estimate with me. I pointed out that he had the wrong name on the estimate which made me wonder if the estimate was for my home. The estimate I received was $21,810 to replace my furnace and 2 air conditioners. The total heated square footage of my home is less than 2200 sq ft.

Tech came out on a Sunday, paid extra (fine). Said I needed "about 2 pounds" of freon. OK. I asked how they measured the freon, got a half-assed answer. Then 3 days later at work, I overhear a colleague on the phone with his wife "Yea, Bradham came over, said we needed about 2 pounds of freon." So they were prompt, they fixed it, and I probably got overcharged. Be sure and get them to explain EXACTLY how they are measuring and charging you for the refrigerant.
Description of Work: AC was out, condensed pipes upstairs. Needed freon.

Description of Work: Once again, I have been extremely fortunate in choosing Brothers for my HVAC service needs. When I called the firm's office to take advantage of their special offer regarding my AC, I was greeeted with courtesy and professionalism; my appointment date was also scheduled in a timely manner. On the day of service, I was notified by phone of the imminent arrival of the service technician (which was even earlier than the promised time). The service technicial was professsional and courteous as well (even wearing shoe covers to protect my flooring). He readily explained each and every procedure and relayed the many maintenance and service options offered by Brothers. Without seeming pushy or forceful, alternatives to the repairs needed were carefully explored with due consideration of my budgetary contraints. He even checked on the efficacy of my heating unit without a charge. I would highly recommend this firm (and, especially, the technician I was assigned) for any and all HVAC needs.

I have always had good work done by them. They are professional and I would recommend them.
Description of Work: They put in a new HVAC system. They do maintenance for us twice a year as well. They call you 30 min before they arrive and wear booties on their feet to protect your carpet.

the worker explained that the toilet might have had a blockage further down the line and he did not have this equipment. he used plunger, which seems to unclog the toilet at that time. worker explained he would not charge for this visit, but if blockage occured again, they would come out with the equipment for larger blockages. I was impressed, as worker did not charge anything and was very pleasant.

They were punctual and responsive. They checked the unit and told that they had to put in a new part which costs $18000 which I felt was too much. So, I decided to go with another company.

They were relatively quick to come out and repair the problem, but their markup on their parts was extremely high. We were in dire straits to get it done then, so I did not have a whole lot of time to check with other companies, but after the fact, we found out that they had a 500% markup on their parts. We felt like they took advantage of a situation there with their service. I called and filed a complaint with them and they said because of the volume that they do and the number of vans, they have a higher overhead, and they pass their higher overhead along, and that is why the markup was so high on the parts. I would never use them again though, even in an emergency.
Description of Work: Our air-conditioner got struck by lightning and we called Costner Brothers for an emergency repair.

We had a toliet that was not set correctly and was not steady as a result. The first plumber that Brothers sent out was having trouble diagnosing the problem. He contactd Emmett from Brothers who came to the house that night (Friday night). Emmett diagnosed the problem which would require several hours of labor to complete and finsihed the job that night. Emmet worked on the job until after 10:00 pm on a Friday night until the job was complete. We could not ask fro better service than that. We very cleary explained what teh issue was and gave us several options on how the job could be completed. He did a great job, was very neat and cleaned up the bathroom and was super friendly. He made a bad situation a lot easier to swallow. Great job Emmett and thank you for yoru help. We will absolutely ask for Emmett at Brothers then next time we need a plumber.
Description of Work: Repaired unstable toliet in guest bathroom and flange/PVC connection below the toliet.

The workers at Brothers run a high volume business. They have very aggressive discounts. They are very good about sticking with what they do. They have been very responsive to my calls. They are very engaging and polite. They are punctual and I have been very impressed with them.

Presented me an estimate which I did not carefully check (and I accept full responsibility for that failure). Added to the estimate were $211 in unverifiable services I did not need and I did not want (and again, I accept responsibility for not carefully scrutinizing the estimate). I feel the tech should have pointed out the "extra" and explained why it was needed, but he didn't. In the end, I don't think this is an entirely ethical way to generate extra business and I will NOT use them for any more A/C work. For an extra $211 they lost a customer.

This company apparently pays it's techs on commission. The techs are encouraged to upsell. I was told by their tech, Rob, that I had a cracked heat exchanger and a big leak in the evaporator coil. He tried to sell me on purchasing a new system for $9946. The other two options he gave me were to add refrigerant or to add refrigerant plus a sealant. Since I thought I was looking at possibly purchasing a new unit, I told him to just add Freon to get the system going and give me time to shop around. When the tech left, my system was blowing out room temperature air. It never cooled the house and I woke up that evening to an 82 degree room. When I called the company that evening, I was told that there was no warranty on the work done. I had three separate mechanical companies check the system on Monday, May 4, and not one of them said my system needed replacing. The only service my AC needed was to have the drain line cleared. The tech from Brothers should have seen that the drain had to be cleared and reset the safety switch. He failed to do so. Resulting in the system never cooling. Two of the other techs also checked the heat exchanger with cameras and informed me that it was fine. It seems that the Brothers tech was trying to up-sell me. Something I would associate with disreputable car mechanics. I also signed a one-year silver service partner plan with Brothers last year. According to the plan, I was to receive one annual service sometime in the past year and they were supposed to contact me to schedule it. That never happened. After speaking with the company, they did refund the $180 I paid for the last service call. But, it leaves me wondering how much of the work and over $1500 I paid them in the past year really had to be done.

We have been using them for years. It was a cold winter night at 11 o clock in February when they came in to do their work. They did it well and promised to take care of the heater that they installed. We got a special plan to ensure we could have them work after-hours, and they were worth the plan.
Description of Work: They put in a new heating and air-conditioning system for us 2 years ago. They have been servicing it since then. They also took care of the smaller parts on the sink and replaced them on warranty.

Everything has been great. Their estimate it always right, and they will tell you if something does or does not need to be fixed. They alert you to any potential future issues, whether you use them or not. They often offer coupons, and their prices are reasonable. They exceeded my expectations. Incredibly friendly and arrived on time. Even my tech was so nice and took time to explain everything to me, overall a great experience. I know that I probably could have gotten it done for less expensively, but I also know that I would not have received the QUALITY and EXPERTISE that I got from Brothers. I would rather spend a little bit more for the best.

In the middle of August our A/C went out, not pleasant. We called Brothers and they arrived same day to repair the motor, had the correct part on hand, replaced it quickly and gave the unit an overall tune-up. Professional, fast and efficient. The price was quite high, had I had the time to do it myself, it would have cost a quarter of their bill. But we needed immediate service and no goofs, and that's exactly what we got. In the same situation, I would call Brothers again, even at the price.

I had them come out to give me an estimate for a new A/C and Furnace system. I had several other estimates prior to theirs. It is unbelievable how obscenely over priced their products are. The man, whom was more like used car salesman quoted me between $13,000-15,000 for exactly the same products that others quoted my between $4,400-6,000. The guy made me so uncomfortable, he was so pushy. He wanted to know what the other estimated were. I didn't tell him because all he would have done is tell me why theirs was worth spending 3x more. He kept pushing me to do financing right there and then and I told him I had to think about it, which really seemed to put him off. He also said he would call back in a day or two to check if I had made a decision, I never heard from him again. I guess they would be ok for a repair with coupon. I'm sure their technicians are reliable and well trained. But definitely shop around before letting them talk you into an overpriced system. If you get the right size for your home and get a reliable brand, you shouldn't need more than that and don't let some cocky salesman tell you different. I got a Trane A/C and Furnace for $4,200 with warranty and digital thermostat, not $13,000 Brothers quoted me. They should be ashamed of themselves.

He didnt think that I knew what he was doing, he stuck a screw driver in our board trying to ruin it, and got us to buy a whole new board. I paid him that 75 dollars and sent him on his way.
