I had called on the 16th and specified what service I needed done for my mother's home. I told them I wouldn't be available in the morning to be there when the evaluation was done. They said that they only had afternoon appointments available anyways. On the 17th they called me at 10:30am and let me know that they were going to be at my mother's home soon. I previously explained that I could only be there in the afternoon. They said they would be there early afternoon but never came out. Finally, we made an appointment for the next morning. They came the next morning spoke with my mother and just left. We had to call them again to get a worker to come out. He didn't do anything to repair the leak in the a/c unit. He was more thorough with assessing the possibility of dating my daughter than with assessing the unit.
Description of Work: They viewed the a/c unit and noticed that there was a leak but didn't do any work to it.

Telephone contact was very professional, scheduled appropriately, technician was great. The only complaint was the cost of the service. The services were provided in 30 minutes to the tune of $450. While we paid it (we had an active leak) I feel that their prices are too high.

It was a very stressful experience and I felt I was being conned the entire time. The employee didn't perform all the services listed on the coupon and just wanted to charge thousands for repair and/or replacement of the system. I had a bad feeling from the start and chose to get a second opinion without having the repairs done or having the salesman come out. After the second opinion, I realized the Brother employee was pushing unneeded repairs and trying to overcharge me for those or just sell me a new system. I would never use them again. Their coupons are clearly just a way to get the repairman there only to try to swindle you into spending thousands.

Brothers performed a tune-up on our heating and A/C unit. During the process they discovered a leak in the hose and replaced antifreeze that had leaked out.

My cooling units were not working and I had used Brothers for tune-up work before with great success. They came out on a diagnostic call and went through the system to try and determine the problem. After almost an hour and a half the technician found that an on/off switch for the attic units was defective. It was a standard light switch that is used to turn the units off if there is an emergency, but after going through the temperature extremes in the attic, it was brittle and cracked. The tech said that he could replace it for $40, but it would be cheaper for me to go get a new one at the hardware store and install it myself, which I did and everything worked great. I appreciate the attention to detail and professionalism that the technician showed. He took time to explain everything to me and in the end only charged for the diagnostic call. I have used them for seasonal tune-ups and will continue to do so.

Called Brothers that morning and received an afternoon appointment. Service technician showed up as expected. Examined my tankless water heater and said operation was fine. There was no charge as the waterheater was still under warrantee. Service technician recommended a flushing of the system as this had not been performed in the two years I had the system.

They were very professional. They came out as soon as we called. My husband had very specific requirements for them which they fulfilled. They were sure to lay plastic over our new carpeting to prevent any drips. They were fast...professional..They were great. We'd call them again.

I noticed I had no hot water so called Brothers. Emmett was the representative that arrived at my home. He was well mannered, professional and a really nice guy. He relit the pilot and we hoped that would be the solution since we had had wind and rain and the water heater compartment is in a small enclosure outside. He showed me how to relight it and, unfortunately, the pilot light went out later that day and I was able to relight it. The following day it was out again and this time I could not get it to relight. Emmett came out that evening and replaced the thermocouple. That has done the trick. I am so glad to have dependable hot water.

service window started at 1:00 pm. After three or four phone calls, the plumber arrived at about 7:00 pm. This job took 1/2 hour and this is my understanding of the pricing. Original charge would have been $225 reduced to $185 as we are members of Brothers HVAC maintenance plan. With their $50 first time coupon the charge the charge was $145 for a 1/2 hour job. I'm considering canceling my HVAC maintenance agreement.

I'm embarrassed to say that we've used Brother's for the past 4 years to service our HVAC system. Our HVAC system is only 8 years old, but we have put over $5,000 into maintaining it. In only FOUR years! Almost every time a technician came for an annual service call, they'd find something wrong that would cost us hundreds of dollars. We trusted that the technicians were being honest with us, but after having another company come in for a second opinion, we found that all that Brother's did was leave a big mess. Work was done incorrectly, or unnecessarily, and now we're looking at replacing the whole system, I'm sure in part to their neglect and poor maintenance over the years. At our last encounter with Brother's was on a Friday night. We were told that our system had no freon left, and that we had a leak in the coils. We could either replace the coils or replace the whole system. We were promised that someone would come the next day to give us a quote on the new system, and that the technician would contact us on Monday with a price for the coil replacement. We received neither. It just makes us sick to think of all the money spent. And for what? We do not recommend using this company.

Very easy to work with, quick professional installation. Did a fine job on installation, looks very nice. System performs like a dream. Their price was a little higher than the competition, but no so much to warrant picking a less know company. Chose Brothers based on friends experience with them in the past, all said it was very good service and install.

They overcharge, probably to pay for their stupid TV commercials.
Description of Work: My A/C unit was leaking and I was told the pan which holds water had a crack in it. I was quoted approximately $500 for a new pan. The cost was so high, I was told, because the pan took two men to install. While the drain was being cleaned to stop the leak the service man broke a part in my A/C unit, which meant I'd go three days without A/C. He told me that due to the inconvenience he'd only charge me the cost of the pan $75. Lo and behold when he came to install the pan it took one man 30 minutes, but they were going to try to charge me $500. Please use another company. The service is as unprofessional as their stupid commercials.

The amana/goodman company refused to stand behind a faulty hvac unit which was 5 years into a 10 year warranty. After much interface with Goodman, Brothers, at their expense, installed a brand new HVAC unit at no charge and extended my warranty to the full warranty period. They were here several times took many readings to no avail with Goodman. They also came back 2 times to ensure the new unit was meeting all of our needs.They are an outstanding customer driven company!!!

Have used Brothers in the past for HVAC work, read on their website they do plumbing work too, as we are PMC "members" thought I'd give them a try. Nice guy who came out but from the moment he stepped foot in the bathroom he was preparing me for the big cost. We have a dual vanity in the master and I understand that this type of work is not easy, ie why I called you in the first place. I was told we would likely have to replace the chrome piping under the sinks as their is a high probability they would damage it beyond repair with the drain cleaning mechanism. He tried to get the blockage cleared with his tools for a few minutes and then proclaimed we need to go to step 2. Upon reviewing he phone he declared to me it will be $612.00. You know this didn't feel right to me, so I declined. To their credit they didn't charge me for coming out as he was unable to fix anything. I contacted a plumber whom I had used in the past on another renovation project and they were able to do the repair in under an hour for $200.00. They didn't damage the pipes or even suggest there might be collateral damage from their work. I would suggest leaving the plumbing work to the plumbers.

I wanted to comment about the outstanding customer and technical service I received from Everton and Shane from Brothers Plumbing. They were extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. My husband and I noticed a problem with our sewer line on Sunday evening and contacted Brother’s Plumbing. Everton came out to our house the very next morning and worked out in the pouring rain to snake out our clogged pipe and then placed a camera to locate the problem. We had tree roots that had gotten into our system. Everton was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. He quoted us the cost of fixing our sewer pipe and said that he would be back out the next morning to repair. Everton and Shane came the next morning to dig up our piping and fix the problem. They not only fixed our pipe, but were already very close to where the city tap was for our system, so they put in the extra effort to go ahead and check that out. They found a problem on the city side as well. Everton and Shane contacted our city sewer department to report the problem and have them send someone out. I was out there when the crew showed up and even the City Supervisor said most plumbers would have never gone through the effort to check the city tap, even though they weren’t far from that area where they were digging to fix my pipes. The City Supervisor said most plumbers probably would have just fixed ours and gone on. The city fixing their part of our system also helped ours to perform better going forward. The city had some broken parts and some clogging that was also causing problems in our system. No one wants this kind of problem or expense, but I would highly recommend Brothers Plumbing for all of your plumbing needs. This was our first experience using them, but they were fantastic. If Brothers employees are all like Shane and Everton this Company will be around several more decades. These two went above and beyond the call of duty. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Description of Work: We had a sewer clog and they snaked out the clog. They also placed a camera down the pipe to see where the problem was. They quoted us to fix the problem which included digging up the sewer pipe and replacing it so that everything was back in working order. They also filled everything back in where they dug out the piping and smoothed the area back out.

I normally have my guy fix plumbing issue but one of the coupon sucked me. The Brothers guy showed up on time and looked at what was wrong. To fix a simple issue he wanted $200 and then $99 for a clogged. When I questioned him on how he come up with the pricing he seemed to get upset. With an attitude he said "well the toilet is old and you should replace it for $500". When I knew the toilet was old but wasn't sure it needed to be replaced he seemed to get a little more upset. It became a little uncomfortable and Is aid I wouldn't be needing his services. He turn around, walked out and left. No word - no work proposal. Never Brothers again.

sOriginally the technician was supposed to come out on Friday between 1-4 and never showed. I finally had to make a call to reschedule. When the technician did finally come out he stated that our evaporator coil was severely rusted out causing an overflow inside the the furnace. He stated that it should be replaced. We scheduled an appointment to have a sales guy to come out and give us an estimate. The sales guy was 30 minutes late. Once here, he suggested that since we were going to replace the furnace we should replace the AC as well, since the evaporator coil was original to the house. By replacing the AC we would be replacing a 5 year old Trane unit. Needless to say, we had a second company to come out to provide an estimate. The 2nd company was shocked that we were told our 5 year old evaporator coil was original to the house and doubted that it was leaking. He suggested that we get a tech from his company out to give a second opinion. That company was out today and the coil is perfectly fine. No leak. No need to be replaced. The furnace is old and there were signs of previous damage. But we definitely did not need to replace the coil or the AC. I will NEVER use Brothers again.

We just bought the units two years ago and they told us we shouldn't have any problems with them for at least 20 years. Our air conditioner stopped running and so I called them to get it repaired. They came out on Tuesday and told us the part would be in the next day and it would cost $350 to have it installed. Then they called us on Friday and told us they would be out in about a half hour to fix the unit. They then called us back and said they didn't have the part and it would be Monday at the earliest before it is in and they can get out to fix it if it comes in at all. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

.This Lady is beyond disappointed After seeing their trucks all over South Charlotte, I decided to give them a call to service our heating system - we had no heat. Tech. was more interested in scaring me into replacing my furnace. After a short time in the attic he came down to "give me the bad news" - He "legally" needed to shut the system down due to gas leaking cracks. He was arrogant and made the mistake of ramping up his bit... To his surprise, I suggested we both go up the ladder so he could show me his concerns. He hesitated and up we went. The unit was closed up & his gear was in is bag. He proceeded to say it would be hard for me to see the rusting seams that were leaking. When I asked how he knew they were leaking he said it was his experience that told him there was a problem. When I asked if he had a gas reading confirming how bad it was; he said no. He also NEVER mentioned anything about the lack of heat coming from the system. We came down the ladder, he continued ramping up his bit saying don;'t worry I won't turn off the system on you but we need to do this right away. After informing him that I would need to have several estimates before I proceeded with any contractor, he began talking about shutting off the system again and I protested offering to sign a waiver. Bottom line was he was all show. A neighbor suggested another small HVAC co. and we havd them come in ASAP. We did not let them know about the first report and they came back with some light rusting but no leaks and that we probably had another year or so out of the builder grade system . They did find a loose wire that was the heat issue! Bottom line was there was no real need to spend the cash now unless we wanted to. After sharing the story with friends and neighbors I found almost identical stories about Brothers and everyone had a "no problem repot" from other companies coming in for second opinions. I called Brother's and they did refund the service change after I gave them the full story. So at least there was that..... Bottom line, we've joined Angie's List and plan on replacing the system this year with one of the highly rated companies on the list.

ARS came to service our 4.5 year old AC system which was not cooling properly. ARS is the official installation arm of Home Depot.. They had originally installed the unit in Nov. 2007. They diagnosed the problem as a pinhole in the refrigerant line, which had caused all the refrigerant to leak out. They determined the cause as a bolt which should have been removed during the installation which rubbed the line due to normal vibration. ARS took responsibility for the error since they had done the original installation. They repaired the line, and refilled the system with 7 lbs. of refrigerant. They did the work as a warranty repair at no charge to us. Officially, the parts of the system would have been covered under warranty but not labor or refrigerant. ARS is highly recommended as being honest and fair. We went ahead and purchased an annual maintenance contract on this heatting and AC system to service twice per year and also purchased one for our 21 year old system in the attic.

I recently purchased a new faucet for the guest bathroom in my home and, after seeking estimates from several plumbers, ended up calling Brothers to have it installed. The plumber was courteous, professional, and arrived on time. The installation took about 90 minutes from start to finish. He did a beautiful job. Brothers Heating and Air has been servicing the HVAC units in my home for over 9 years. They do excellent work, but these representatives often have something big to try and sell you. I was especially pleased with the plumber because he did not suggest anything else to sell me; he simply provided excellent service for the faucet installation. I would not hesitate to call Brothers for a plumber again. When I called Brothers for an estimate, they were the only company that worked hard to get the price down to something I could afford. The receptionist told me about a new program to offer a 5% discount to people with an AARP card, and the discount reduced the price from $229 to $217.55. Although this price was in the same range or slightly better than many plumbers I called, I gave the price a "B" because it was expensive for my budget and far higher than one estimate (that plumber was tied up on a long-term job). As a large company, Brothers also was able to send someone out that same day, which was surprising and much appreciated. Brothers charges a $19.95 fee to send a plumber out to do an onsite estimate (they will not give an estimate over the phone), if you do not have their plumber do the work. The charge is waived if their representative does the work. Brothers gives a 16 month warranty on labor for this type of job.
