THE WORST! I had an associate come out to my home and check on my HVAC system. He said I was low on freon and that I needed about 2 pounds more. I was going to pay out of pocket. After he filled it up, he said there was a leak coming from a bad TXV value and that I need a new one and it would cost about $1800. Sorry, I don't have that kind of cash on hand, so I told him I had to go through my home warranty. The Tech got spooked and didn't know what to do. He told me to call his boss, Chad Jr. and he said he would contact my home warranty company and get it all worked out. I was then reassured by the Tech Jamie AND Chad Jr. that they would not leave me high and dry. Well, It's been over THREE WEEKS and I've heard NOTHING and Chad Jr. won't even return my phone call! THANKS FOR NOTHING!!

I've used American Air for 2 systems and have had a great experience with everyone from Chad to the technicians. I scheduled an estimate for some work in the crawl space. I informed Renee that I would not be there but my wife or Mom would be and he was free to go under the home and do the estimate. She said great. The technician came and spoke to my mom but did not do the estimate b/c I wasn't there or my wife. But my Mom was there and he had been given permission to go in the crawl space with detailed instructions from original phone call as to what we needed estimated. When I called the office and spoke with Renee I rescheduled for the following day but this time the technician was a no show bc in her words I was 'hateful.' I was indeed frustrated but not hateful. When I called today to try again to reschedule she passed me along to the Chad Jr the office manager. I explained the history and was met with a less than helpful response and no ownership of the mistake they made in the original appt.. I have loved this company to the point but will no longer use them. A simple 'we sorry for the inconvenience and we messed up' would have retained a good customer for life.

I highly recommend this company! Our AC unit went completely dead and (of course) the weather was sunny and in the 90’s. Our house was sweltering. We called American Air at 5:30 pm and the service person was there that night! He realized we needed a whole new unit. It was also a Friday night. He brought us a very nice portable unit to use until Monday when our new unit would be installed. They showed up Monday morning and worked in the blazing heat until about 4:00 pm. Because of the age of our units, we went ahead and purchased an AC and furnace as well. Our furnace is in the attic which was probably about 150 degrees up there. The guys were exceptionally professional and polite. Never once complained. They stayed and made sure both units were working properly. We would absolutely use this company again!!!

I have a home buyers warranty with 2-10 and they sent American Air to look at my HVAC system. My thermostat shut off by itself and I didn’t know why so I turned it back on and five minutes later it shut itself off again and water started pouring out of the unit. So I turned it off completely, dried the floor, and filed a claim with 2-10. They called same day and we set up an appointment. Adam was the technician and he cleaned the condensate pipe and checked the freon level and said everything was clean and charging properly. He is very professional and didn’t try to sell me parts I didn’t need and I appreciate that. He explained everything to me and even fixed my duct cover on the ceiling that was loose. I was worried who the warranty company would send to me but I will use them again in the future. It has been 6 days now and the system is working great with no problems.

Not well... I used American Air because they are a preferred provider of 2-10 Home Warranty (2-10). I have a maintenance plan with Parks Heating & Cooling but cannot use them for warranty work with 2-10. The tech with American Air (Dave) seemed to be a nice guy and knowledgeable. I was at work at the time of the service call but my adult son was at the house and I spoke to Dave about the issues we were having and what he recommended. Dave stated he found a bad motor on the zone damper. He said this was not covered under the home warranty and would cost $643 to replace. Since this was a relatively large amount of money, especially considering I just spent $600 on the home warranty when I purchased the house in June (1 month ago), I decided to get another quote. In addition I know this small motor cost less than $100... so that's $543 in labor? I considered replacing the motor myself. I've been a technician/engineer in various roles for the last 30 years. However, I decided to get more input from the pros in case the zone controller had to be calibrated in some way. Parks gave me a quote of around $400 over the phone but stated they would need to confirm the problem first. They came out and reconnected the motor (Dave had disconnected it as a short term fix... which later made no sense since the damper is normally closed by a spring and opened by the motor). Parks cycled it repeatedly and found no problem whatsoever. Parks checked the system and found it 1# low on refrigerant, a 20% loss, and suspected a leak. Their findings are below. Work Performed Looked over the entire system and zone system. Cycled the zone motor off and on multiple times and didn't see where it was hanging up. I did however only get a 14 degree temp drop across coil. I checked the refrigerant levels in a/c and found unit reading a 23 degree superheat. On a 95 degree day it should be reading 8 degrees. System is under charged and needs to be leak searched to find leak. Homeowner has a home warranty and is gonna have them come out and fix it. Tech Notes Recommend doing a charging unit to proper superheat and doing a leak search to find the source of refrigerant leak. Note - I spoke to the tech at Parks about what American Air found. He didn't understand why Dave didn't check refrigerant levels or why he stated the motor was bad. I told him I felt as though I was being cheated (find something warranty company doesn't cover and state that needs to be done... don't have to deal with warranty company's restrictions then... just homeowner) The Parks tech said he new the owner's son at American Air and had a good opinion of him and his business. So based on that you have a tech that doesn't know what they're doing or is lying. Either way not a good situation. My family is suffering in this heat in our new home. The system can't keep up with these temps and humidity. The home warranty company is only telling us what they won't do for us and American Air appears to be trying to cheat us. Prove to me that I'm wrong and fix my system. Sincerely, Jonathan Couch

The owner, Chad Adams, came out to provide me an estimate. He fully reviewed my options, the costs, and the details of each option. There was no pressure, just informative. Great guy. I decided on 7/22 to get one of the options and told Chad. He scheduled me same day, which was a pleasant surprise. The team arrived about 10 and were fully completed around 3. The installation went well, they cleaned up fully and we'd never know they were there. The new system is great. Overall great experience, and I will continue to use American Air for my system.

I was connected to American Air Heating & Cooling through my home owners warranty. They were responsive and came out to determine the issues when my furnace broke. They assured me I did not need a new furnace, just a new heat exchanger, which would be covered by the warranty. Explained that there was some urgency to have the work done, or I could have issues with high Carbon Monoxide levels in the house. I scheduled the work, which they came out and did on time and quickly. Later that evening, the CO monitors in the house went off. Ultimately, the fire department was called, and I was informed that the levels in the house were "fatal" had the alarms not gone off. Was told that the dog would not have likely made it had we not have been home when the alarms went off. The gas company was called, turned off the gas and did not allow me back in the house. Despite 6 calls to American Air and Heating, I got no response that evening. Had to call 3 more times in the AM, still was unable to get an answer (I was talking with their answering service), it took the warranty company to get them on the phone. They sent out the same technician (which I had asked them not to do), who was immediately defensive and said I couldn't prove the CO issues were a result of the work he did. Turns out he knocked some duct work loose, which was an honest mistake. However, he neglected to do any testing for CO gasses before he left the house. His only reason was that I was in a hurry for him to finish. This was negligent at best. Despite the admission that he had caused the CO, he refused to take responsibility and would not acknowledge the seriousness of the error. To add insult to injury, he informed me that this wouldn't have happened if I had just bought a new furnace (which they told me I didn't need to do), and left me with a $1,200 estimate to "fix" additional parts. 3 weeks later, I have never heard from anyone at the company to discuss the situation. I have reported them to the warranty company. If you chose to use this provider, I would insist upon a CO check and I would make sure your CO monitors are working. Their negligence put my entire family at serious risk.

1-24-15 (Saturday), Our company was faxed a dispatch from HBW 2-10 Home Warranty Company to inspect the downstairs furnace located at 4019 Windward Drive. The dispatch was flagged & noted that another HVAC company (Morris Jenkins) had found a crack in the heat exchanger of the gas furnace. We contacted [members name] & scheduled a service call. Our technician John inspected the 1992 model Carrier 80% efficient gas furnace located in the basement & confirmed that cell #3 in the heat exchanger had a 1 inch crack in it. The furnace she has is 80% efficient & vents the flue gas with 4 inch double wall piping. Its also not designed to vent horizontally. To vent horizontally a separate draft system has to be installed on the side of the home to vent the flue gas. We call this set up a Side Wall Vent Kit. This is an add on to the system & is not a factory installed part. If the correct style of furnace would have been installed this Side Wall Vent Kit would not have been needed. The Side Wall Vent Kit motor on [members name] system is mounted on the side of the house way up in the air & requires a ladder to access it. John took pics what he thought was the exhaust coming from it unfortunately we found out it was the drier vent located right beside it. John explained to [members name] that we would give all this information to her Home Warranty Company for them to process her claim. John also left pricing on the invoice to install the correct style of furnace that is 95% efficient & does not use a Side Wall Vent Kit. 1-26-15 (Monday), Our office sent all the information that John had gathered about [members name] heating system to her Home Warranty Company HBW 2-10. The Home Warranty Company decides if they will repair or replace the gas furnace. 1-27-15 (Tuesday), The Home Warranty Company approved to only replace the heat exchanger in the gas furnace. There claim department emailed us that the customer would be responsible for a disposal fee of $50 & to have the system cleaned at $129. They informed us they would order the heat exchanger from Carrier & direct ship it to us. 2-6-15 (Friday), The heat exchanger was delivered to us. We sent 2 technicians Ken & Randy to replace it. To replace a heat exchanger the complete furnace has to be dismantled & reassembled. The heat exchanger is the heart of the furnace & is a very hard repair. After installation they did a full run test on the furnace & set the gas pressure. At that time everything seemed & operated fine. [Members Name] wrote us a check for the Home Warranty non covered of $179. 2-7-15 (Saturday), [Members Name] contacted our answering service that she had a carbon monoxide issue in her home. My dispatch department contacted her & sent Ken back to her home at 8:15 am. He rechecked the system & found the Side Wall Vent Kit not coming on & pulling the flue gas from the furnace. Ken could not safely reach the Side Wall Vent motor located on the side of the home. The motor is located 8 foot from the ground on a very steep hill. We sent one of our Managers Jody to hold a ladder for Ken to access the Side Wall Vent Kit. Ken disassembled the vent kit to access the motor & controls. He found the motor making a grinding noise & also seen were someone had by-passed the safety controls inside the vent kit. Over in the night the motor had stopped running & the safety controls should have cut the system off. But since they were by passed the furnace ran with out the motor pulling a draft on the flue piping. Ken wired the safety controls per the manufactures instructions & cycled to make sure it was cutting the system off if needed. Ken informed [members name] & documented on the invoice that her Home Warranty Company did not cover Side Wall Vent Kits because it is an add on accessory not installed by the furnace manufacturer. She took a copy of the invoice then slammed the front door in Ken & Jody's face. 2-12-15 (Thursday), [Members Name] stopped payment on the $179 check which we were going to refund giving the situation. I'm very sorry this happened. It's unfortunate the Morris Jenkins technician or my technicians ever saw or heard the Side Wall Vent Kit motor cut off. If so we would have brought this to [members name] attention & shut the furnace down. At this point all i can do is apologize to [members name] & let her know i am very sorry. We had a full company meeting about this incident to make sure everyone is aware how & why this happened. Also to make sure it never happens again & not to assume another company has done a full system evaluation. We also shared this incident with other companies & was alarmed to hear similar issues with by passed wiring on Side Wall Vent Kits. My upstairs air conditioner had not been working well and increasingly had trouble cooling the area, with sky high electric bills ensuing, until it just blew out (warm) air. It reached 84 degrees in my upstairs office and even hotter in our TV room. I called our warranty company and they referred me to American Air. I was hesitant to use this company because I'd heard horror stories about companies that warranty companies refer you to. The warranty had been inherited from the prior homeowner which I had just recently, but not whole-heartedly, renewed. However as an Angie's list member I decided to look up the reviews and was very pleasantly surprised with all the tremendous reviews and from mostly warranty customers. So I hired them and they did not disappoint. Chris Jones arrived less than 24 hours after the call was made and within the time window estimated. He was professional, honest, knew what he was doing and taught me a few things. My air filters had not been changed in 6 months (embarrassing!) and some of them were really dirty. He said that filters should be replaced between 1 and 3 months when they begin to show any little bit amount of darkening and that when filters are dirty it makes your system work harder. So that was a good lesson. Also the system is 14 years old and is probably working on borrowed time since he explained systems last between 10 - 12 years so replacement could be in the future. The system was also low on refrigerant which was added, he tightened some valves and cycled the system. He said to see how things go within the next month or so since there could be other issues going on such as a leak in the system. So maybe this was a stop-gap measure....not really sure. Chris said it would take about 24 hours to cool things down. Much to my delight this morning the air temp has already reached the setting. What relief! We also spoke of a service agreement and I plan to sign up and request Chis in the future.

I hate to hear you aren't 100% happy with our company. I did look up your service records. I see most of the service calls were through your home warranty company starting 1-16-2009. On these visits you were only charged a co-pay from your home warranty company. You also had us clean & service your system 6 times over a 3 year period for $89 each visit. We did add one pound of Freon to your A/C system on 5-8-2013 but besides that you have only been charged co-pays or for the tune-up. I hate you feel my technicians were trying to sell you something. Our AC unit stop working on Sunday night. We called our homeowner warranty company and opened a claim. American Heating and Cooling company call us on Monday morning around 10 to tell us they can get someone to our house between 2 to 4pm on the same day. The technician called us at 11am to let us know that he can actually get here within twenty minutes if it is convenient for us. It was 80? in the house and we have a newborn. We told him to come add son as h he can. Surely the technician showed up in twenty minutes. Turn up the motor for the fan in the AC unit was burnt. He quickly repaired and installed a brand new motor within twenty minutes. And we got our AC back on. Overall was quick and easy process. The technician was very polite and knowledgeable.

They did okay. We actually had a service contract with another contractor and I was not happy with them and so we went ahead called them, they came out and did the service last year. They diagnosed the problem correctly and fixed it. They were outstanding. They were right on-time. They were very good, they actually came when my wife was there and explained the problem to her and then I got home and walked around with the guy and I thought he was very professional and my wife was impressed with him.

Called to renew the annual service contract before the expiration date. The person in charge of this role is the owner's wife. She was very rude, condescending. I had an issue last year after we had just spent $9k on 2 new units. I felt like the customer is always wrong according to this owner/employee. The first year I thought we resolved the issue and when I called back the second year I got the same attitude and disrespect. Having been a homeowner for 20+ years, I have never been treated so disrespectfully by anyone. Furthermore she actually accused me of lying and while I don't expect her to remember me from the year before she said we must not have talked because it would have been documented in their system. My husband called back and asked to speak with the owner. She said she was the owner's wife and that her husband is too busy to call him. My husband sent an email that was never responded to. This person is a liability to her own livelihood! After this situation we subscribed to Angie's list and found another provider who treated us like they valued our business. In fairness to the owner of this company, the technicians were very good to work with and responsive. Our low rating was because had I known that we would be treated this way after purchasing the units, I would have bought the 2 AC units elsewhere. It is a shame that someone within their company is undermining their good work.

[member name removed] I'm glad you posted this review. I did not realize I had an issue with one of my customer service reps. After talking with her about how she handled this situation I wrote her up & put her on probation. As of Friday 6-27-14 I terminated her for being disrespectful to another customer. This is something I will not tolerate. I have worked to hard to many years to have someone run my customers away. I'm very sorry how she treated you. They came out immediately after filing a claim with our home warranty company. They were on time, very friendly and professional and fixed it right the first time. They are the preferred service contractor for my home warranty company, but I will continue to use them even after my warranty expires. I would recommend them to anybody.

It was okay. I wasn't typically thrilled with the service. It was in the middle of summer and I really needed air conditioning, I went with them because they were the first ones to come out. They got here earlier. It went okay. The person wasn't excited about being there. I needed the air conditioning and he was there. I remember saying that I had to get it done that's why I went with this person. They were close to home. What stood out to me was his attitude about being there. He thought he didn't need to be there and it wasn't too big of a deal. I remember that sticking out more.
