Do NOT even think about hiring All Star Concrete UNLESS: (1) you enjoy working with someone like Ruben (Reese) Simpson who cannot keep a promise or honor a commitment; (2) you like being “ghosted” for every scheduled appointment; (3) after receiving a written scope of work that clearly states no monies are required until the job is completed, you are required to pay nearly two thirds of the total cost the day before pouring; (4) you are required to pay the contract balance before forms have been removed and the site has been cleaned up; (5) you do not get the gravel bed or rebar that was supposed to be put down before the concrete slab was poured; (6) you end up having to break up and then wrap with chains and tow away the pile of leftover concrete that was dumped—without your permission—on top of your pile of fill dirt and left to harden; (7) you receive repeated assurances from the company owner, Reuben Simpson, that he will return to finish clean-up after the job but never does; and (8) the concrete slab you just had poured cracks within two weeks because there are no requisite contraction lines. So, if you don’t have any expectations for professional workmanship and honorable behavior, then by all means, hire All Star Concrete. Our checks were good, but Ruben’s word was not.

They have done driveways, patios, retaining walls, garage floors and grading for us at several homes we’ve owned. Always great results!

Two neighbors had used this firm to put in driveways and they seemed pleased. I called the proprietor, Ruben Simpson, and he came out right away to give us an estimate, which was very reasonable. Not only that, but he was able to schedule the work for the following week. Mr. Simpson was responsive to my design requests for the new driveway and sidewalk. The removal of the old concrete went smoothly, as well as blocking out the new design. The pouring of the new concrete was to be done over two days. The first day there was rain in the forecast but they went ahead. Unfortunately, the storms were severe which meant that the new concrete took much longer than planned to "cure." The second delivery of concrete was poured on wet soil. Within days of completion, a significant crack had already appeared, and more have followed. Mr. Simpson and his co-worker did not clean up the site well. They also promised to return "tomorrow' and apply sealant to the driveway (for a small additional fee). I agreed, but they never returned either to clean up or to apply the sealant - and that was over two months ago. For the most part, the new driveway and sidewalk look good, but we don't think such a new installation should already show cracks and crumbling concrete around seams and edges. As soon as he got our check (which he cashed practically before the ink dried) he was done with us.
