"Home Depot set up the contact for a deck project 14JUL. HD advised that I would be contacted by the contractor and an appointment for an at home estimate would be made. I missed a call 15JUL @1138, I returned the call left a message @1149. 18JUL I called again to follow up as I had not heard from the contractor again. He picked up & told me his "day is hot and sweaty." I introduced myself and said I wanted to set up my at home estimate. The contractor asked how big the deck was. I gave a guess, and said that I actually wanted it torn down, a concrete slab poured and a new deck built. He kept asking for measurements so he could give me an estimate. After the third time, I asked if he was trying to give me an estimate first and then come out to see if it's right, he said yes. I mentioned that's not how the other contractors were assessing the job. They had been coming out to give estimates. He repeated that he needed the measurements and offered to even text me the results. He said it was so that he could see how much it was going to cost first. I told him that was not what i wanted to do and that we would keep looking. He said, bye bye, and hung up. I already called HD's Pro-Referral number and advised them of my experience."

It can take up to three days to install an egress window. The window installation team will typically spend the first two days excavating the land where the window will go. If you’re replacing an egress window, it will be spent cutting the foundational wall to accommodate the window, if needed. Often, a window inspection is required to verify that the window was sized and installed correctly.
The cost to install an egress window is $3,900 on average. This cost can be as low as $2,500 or as high as $5,300, depending on the window size, the number of egress windows installed, and the glass quality.
Double-pane windows average between $200 and $500 per window, whereas single-pane windows are more cost-effective at $100 to $400. More luxurious triple-pane windows are more expensive, ranging from $300 to $800 on average.
An egress window is similar to a regular window. However, this type of window opens fully to allow people to escape the home or rescue personnel to enter the home if an emergency occurs. Egress windows are required in all finished basements before they can be considered a living space.
Not only does an egress window add value to your home, but it’s also a basement requirement in most areas. Egress windows offer a 70% return on investment, making them a worthwhile purchase and installation. In addition, most building codes require an egress window to be used as an emergency exit and entrance. Therefore, it is a necessary addition to meet building codes.
There are a few ways to save money on egress window installation. First, choosing pre-fabricated windows instead of custom windows can help dramatically reduce the overall cost. In addition, skipping window extras, like customized frames or window film, can help save money on the price tag without sacrificing the window itself. You should also shop around to multiple window installers to find the best installation deal without sacrificing the quality of the window.
