Work was completed in a timely manner and cost was reasonable. We will hire again!

Never got a call from the individual. At this point I am not sure if I am going to hire them to do the job.

I was impressed by the stellar reviews for this business. I called twice and left messages and also contacted the business through their web site. They never responded.

Everything proceeded according to plan, despite some hurdles: David had to work in a very small space, with 90-year-old plumbing, uneven floors, and vendor delays. But David saw these as challenges rather than hurdles. We were constantly impressed with his adaptability, knowledge, and professionalism, Additionally, he was here every day on time from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.--often later--never taking a break, and always cleaning up as he went along. David is extremely conscientious and ethical--a real artist at his craft who loves what he does. We couldn't be happier with his work. He, and the bathroom, far exceeded our expectations!!

I remember they were professional.?That was all that I could remember. There is nothing for them to improve on. I technically didn't have the money at the time, and I was just starting to look at estimates and products. I really wasn't ready to follow up with it at that time. I think I would consider them in the future.?

David was on time, got right to work, and didn't waste a minute. He is a thoroughly delightful person and did an excellent job of repairing the bed. We will be happy to have him work for us again anytime.

Even though the weather and unexpected issues (This is an old house where the unexpected problems may arise when renovating.) caused some delays , Daniel of Upstate Remodel, did a great job. He and David are perfectionists in every task they undertake. The stairwell job has transformed a regular stairwell into a pretty area. David made chair rails with "shadow boxes" below which really "dressed up" a merely utilitarian space. In addition they repainted the area. Again, the precision of his work is remarkable. Daniel encountered several problems with the bathroom cabinet and the kitchen but persevered with painstaking excellence. The installers for the granite countertops who were recommended by Upstate Remodel were very prompt and did a beautiful job in the kitchen and the bath. The appliance garage on the kitchen counter had to be practically rebuilt by Daniel, but again his desire for perfection resulted in a finished product that the average person would never guess had been a problem. The ceramic backsplash which I requested be tiled in the "diamond" pattern is perfect. Again there were issues that required some thought and careful decision, but the result is exactly as I had pictured. My husband and I highly recommend David or Daniel for any job for which they would contract. We definitely will use them for any further work we have done. We are seniors who were impressed with their professionalism as well as their pleasant and engaging personalities. We found them very courteous and respectful. Both are men of integrity who were and still are welcome in our home as family. The cost paid ($3,247.26) does not include the cost of the granite and granite installation or the cost of the ceramic tile. Also, this amount does not include a gratuity for their outstanding work and their success in completing the work by our deadline.

Never called back after initial visit.

We knew the steps were not to code in the beginning, but it was revealed that one of the risers was not anchored. David Hammond of Upstate Remodel basically had to rebuild the steps. The work he did is beautiful. His detail with the molding is exceptional, We don't believe anyone could have done a better job. His price for this job was more than reasonable. I asked him what I could do to "decorate" this large, empty space, and he sent me a photo of a job he had done. We liked it and contracted with him to do the same with ours. He painted the stairwell, then put in a chair rail, with decorative molding below--a "shadow box" effect. My husband was so pleased with the finished product that he said the stairwell was too pretty for the rest of the house! For this additional work to beautify the stairwell, Upstate Remodel charged $1,465.55 (Work was done in January, completed 01/15/2015). With these two jobs, an ugly, unsafe stairwell morphed into a beautiful part of our home. Jack and Miriam Wilson

Overall the job went very well. I would highly recommend David and Daniel to anyone else. We had a situation where the condition of the existing floors was so bad that other contractors, who I had contacted first, had told me that they were unwilling to take on the job. We had been told that the floors could not be saved and that our only option was to completely remove and replace them. But we didn't want to outright replace the floors because of cost and because we wanted to retain some of the original character of our older home. When I first spoke to David on the phone, I explained the situation. He said that he couldn't make any promises, but that he was willing to take a look, put some thought into it, and see what we could do. After seeing our floors, David and Daniel went back to their shop and tried some things on a few test pieces, and were able to come up with a solution to save our floors. Fast forward two weeks, and the floors are done. They look absolutely great. We had one hiccup where they uncovered some unexpected water damage, but they were able to repair it at a fair price and match the new floor boards seamlessly into the existing original floors. Job well done. We would certainly use them again for future work.

His work looks great and he was very accommodating, clean, and quick.

David went above and beyond to give me information about the remodel. Even though he is busy now and I have a short timeline to get this done, he spent time with me on the phone to tell me about products that he would recommend to make sure the job is done right.

David was personable and responded to my request for a work estimate in a very timely manner. He sent me the quote via e-mail(my request) in a timely manner. He did excellent work, kept the job site cleaned and cleaned thorougly at the close of the project. Keep in mind he does work alone. He seemed to be very up to date on materials needed and takes a lot of pride in his work and in completing it to your satisfaction. He kept me informed re his progress . I would use him again. Well done!

Everything was perfect. David Hammond is the best young wood working master that I've seen. You see, my mother's side of our family was all wood workers, dating four (4) generations back. He is polite, kind, and professional. He even vacumed up the debrie, after comp[letion. WOW !!

Awesome job! Very respectful, used caution when working and painting around my daughter's room, and this has added value to our home.

David reviewed the two bathroom floors to be tiled. He offered some help in providing some stores to help in picking out some tile. He also suggested using Schluter Ditra which would enhance the overall integrity of the installation. We chose to go with this product. He and his partner Thomas completed the project in five days. We couldn't ask for anything better! It certainly came out beautiful and the baths look so clean and spacious. They were a joy to have them working here. We'd recommend them in a heartbeat!!

Upstate Remodel did a wonderful job on our house! My wife and I had gotten several estimates from a few "flooring" companies to install new laminate hardwood floors in our house. Let's just say all their estimates were rather outrageous for what we thought it should approximately be. We decided to check out Angie's List and did a search for "flooring" in our area and Upstate Remodel ended up being on the top of the list. Gave David a call. He came out, was very professional, helpful and gave us an estimate for the job. His estimate was very reasonable, specially for everything he said he was going to do. The other quotes we got did not even come close. David was great to work with. He has a very friendly, funny personality and loves to joke around. The original estimate for the job included: Complete install of whole house laminate hardwood floors (including closets, excluding kitchen and bathrooms). - Picked up and delivered flooring from the store it was purchased at when it came in - Moved furniture as needed to accommodate us and the install - Pulled up and removed old carpet and carpet padding - Removed old broken-tile style ceramic tiling in foyer and around fireplace area (this was no easy task either!) - Removed old baseboards - Properly undercut door jambs - Inspected and fixed any sub-flooring noises - Installed new under-layment padding - Installed new laminate hardwood floor throughout house - Installed, nail-hole filled, and caulked new baseboards throughout - Installed new baseboard HVAC registers (customer purchased) - Installed low profile thresholds for bathrooms and kitchen - Installed proper exterior door thresholds - Moved furniture back after install was complete - Cleaned all installation/construction messes and hauled away all old materials and trash. For all that, the price was unbelievable! Once we picked out and purchased the floor we wanted, David picked it up and delivered it himself from the store once it came in. We had approximately 1200 sq. ft. of flooring to be done and we knew that it was going to turn our house upside down for a bit, but that was to be expected. Upstate Remodel did a great job at working with us and accommodating us as much as possible with anything to make the whole process more comfortable. This was very true specially with my wife who has Multiple Sclerosis and has a difficult time with mobility. David was more than willing to do anything to help accommodate her during the time the install was going on. This alone showed extreme professionalism. During the install not only was David very accommodating, but he was very detail oriented. If you are looking for someone you can trust to "do things the right way" and not cut-corners, then you definitely need to call Upstate Remodel. David has a personality like mine so I was instantly put at ease knowing that I could trust him to do things right and perfect. I am the type of person who is a bit OCD and can't stand knowing when something is just not right. David's work ethic is exactly like this. He will not do something unless it is done right. He explained that this is one of the reasons he pulls baseboards and undercuts the door jambs, instead of doing a half-effort job and cut the floor around the jambs and just throw down quarter-round moldings on top of the existing baseboards. I agreed totally with him and think that looks cheap. On top of all that, David even took some extra steps to help us out with the little detailed things that he didn't even have to do. For example, during conversation we mentioned recently we had our HVAC replaced, so he took the initiative to tape up the gaps around the HVAC register ducts in every room. This was not part of the estimate, but since the flooring was up, he went ahead and took care of it for us. I honestly would say that for the price and the time it took for the job, it was more than worth it and you could not find a better deal anywhere in the upstate area. Our house has a completely new look on the inside. My wife and I are extremely happy with all aspects of the install and the finished product. The biggest difference in choosing to go with David from Upstate Remodel versus a big "flooring" company is that he is his own independent contractor and his business relies on his reputation. It is very easy to see the difference in quality too. A big flooring company will send out employees who work for the company and not care much about the quality of the job. We were very appreciative of the great quality that David puts into his work. We will definitely be calling David back again in the future for any other work we have done on our house. We totally recommend David for any high quality work you need done on your home. We couldn't be happier with what Upstate Remodel did.

Left message and they never returned call- very unprofessional!

David designed and built a custom cabinet that looks like a piece of furniture. The cabinet has upscale carved areas and feet. He talked with me and designed the elements of the bath. The granite is black with iridescent pops of color. The custom millgrain work on the rounded sides of the cabinet is elegant and shows not only the quality of work but the attention to details most would not take extra time for. The floors are tile but look like a pickled plank floor. David's training and choice to use Ditra by Sluter products under the tile assures no problems with water damaged tiles down the road. Every element such as the faucet and toilet paper holder have been picked out and installed with an eye on the architectural detail of the faucet and the heavy duty but easy to change toilet paper holder. The cabinet is highlighted by a large beveled mirror framed in black. The cabinet, walls and door are cream with a pale lavender crown molding that makes the granite pop! The hardware is top of the line brushed silver chrome. David is more than worth the wait as the quality of his work has him booked in advance. Have patience and know your remodel will look better than the pictures in magazines. We look forward to the remodel of our master bath in a few weeks. Thanks Angie. They were outrageous in price and so my son said he would help me out by getting the price down. They came out and son explained to them what needed to be done; I never heard back from them so I found someone else. I had looked them up for somebody and they had plenty of stars so I thought I’d try them out. They were too expensive and never got back to me.

Every time David works here, it seems to go very smoothly. He cleans up after himself. Sometimes, he has helpers, sometimes he doesn't. It doesn't seem to matter because even if he has a helper he is careful what he allows them to do but even still he pays attention to their workmanship to make sure it is what he wants out of the job. He is meticulous with getting the job done and getting the job done correctly, His pricing is very reasonable. My home is truly the home that David built. If you have the option to choose what contractor you want, choose David he is a craftsman at it's best, the quality of work is outstanding. Yes, yes, I would hire him again in a heartbeat!

I called Upstate Remodel as I am in need of a bathroom remodel. I was told there was a month or so long wait but they could go ahead and come out for an estimate. I have a list of other projects I also want estimates for. I gave my name and address and we made arrangements via phone for a Thursday evening visit. Thursday came, and no call, and no one showed up. My wife was greatly irritated. We joined Angie's List so as to prevent the sketchiness and unreliability we've experienced in the past with some contractors. Having solid reviews seemed like a wonderful approach to finding a contractor. Not in this case. I told my wife I would give UR the benefit of the doubt. Everyone gets one strike. Perhaps there was a family emergency. Perhaps for some strange reason, my contact info was lost. I called Upstate Remodel again. I didn't really receive any kind of apology - rather an overview of how time consuming and difficult their current job was. (As if this were my problem!) Yep - they still have my name and address and once again I had another Thursday night appointment for an estimate. And once again, no phone call, and no one showed up. How hard is it to simply pick up the phone and make a 30 second call? If you're that busy, TELL ME! If you don't want the work, TELL ME! But making appointments and then not calling or showing up is completely unacceptable. This is exactly the type of contractor I do not want. Anyone who would hire someone with these business practices has lost their mind. Caveat Emptor - "Buyer Beware".

Wonderful! David is fantastic. A true craftsman. He loves his work and it shows.

This was a job that has scared off numerous contractors. Not this man. He was very prompt and the quote was reasonable considering the working conditions. He shows immense respect toward this older home. He is easy to work with and very cordial. Would I use him again? Absolutely and I am. He is currently re-doing the main bathroom. I am out of state so he is working without me there and I trust him implicitly. I would recommend him for any job.
