Dean Custom Air

We've had these guys come out at least 7 times and they keep masking the problem somehow, but the system keeps failing. Somehow they suckered us into paying for a maintenance contract, but a couple of weeks after they performed the maintenance, the system would fail again. It's been a long road with these guys and now that the system failed again last night, I'm sick of it. We hired someone else to come out. I would absolutely not hire Dean's to come out if they were the lowest quote by $500. They provide faulty service and it ends up costing again somehow.

Performed service and said that it was not covered. even though system ewas less than 1 year old and in use for less than 3 months

Not good - tried to overcharge when work was completed. Replacement A/C coil did not last 2 year resulting in replacing entire A/C system. Several additional issues noted when another company was brought in to fix A/C.

After our ceiling caved in due to a clogged drain. I went into the attic and saw that Dean Custom Air had installed the unit, so I called them to come look at it. They came out to "clean it." Lo and behold 4 months later the exact same thing happened again. Dean Custom Air sent out a second worker and told us there would be no charge. The second worker came, and even mentioned that it didn't even look like the drain had been cleaned in years... meaning he thought his co-worker had done nothing the first visit. He cleaned the drain, checked outside drain lines and left without charging us as they promised. The next day I got a call from someone at the office demanding $180 from us and saying it wasn't covered. They denied saying they'd do it for free and when I asked them to explain further, he hung up on me. Today, about 3 months later, Joe called my husband to demand payment again and he explained again that we weren't paying until we got an explanation that wasn't just "because," Joe told him that they were blocking our work orders and never to call them again, then hung up on my husband. I'm glad that when we just want justification for the charges and a better explanation of why the recurrence happened and why it wasn't covered, we get treated with anger and rudeness. Completely Unprofessional.

We were very satisfied with them. We have been using them for 8 years. They come when we need them.

Explained 2 ton compressor and air handler required replacement . I asked for quote including all specs so I could check price with other providers. Appointed another company to furnish and install new equipment based on a lower price. Installation 0n 9/1/14 went well and system is working fine. In a couple of days the company (Gochnauer Mechanical) is sending out a quality control person to check the complete installation and instruct us in the use of the new thermostat.

When this fact was learned, we call the head of Dean, Charlie Dean, he personally inspected the duct system and admitted that it was not properly done, but tried to blame a great deal of the problem on the age of the ducts vs. the lack of attention of his company. An agreement was reached with Mr. Dean where he issued us a reimbursement. But, we will not deal with this company again. How can we trust them to do the work properly when their past performance was so poor.

They have been out to my house repeatedly to make adjustments to the AC even to adding cold air returns in both bedrooms. The last visit the gentleman made adjustments to all the registers though out the house to boost the air flow in the bedrooms. The end result of all this is that the rooms still get overheated just not as badly.. I know that Dean Air has gone over and above what would be expected to solve this problem. I give them all the praise in the world in trying to help us and I would surely use them if I ever need a new system. I now have a service contract with them and will continue to have them for our maintenance.

The prive included fixing it and looking at it. My air was not working and he came the day that we called. He had fixed it and was gone within a half hour.

Our home is new and still under warranty. We called them because they are the original contractor through the builders of our home. They've come out about five or six times since we've been here.

I own a home on Lady's Island that I rent. The A/C went out during the heat of the summer and my management company recommended Dean's Custom Air. The Dean's Custom Air serviceman came and assessed the system quickly and told my renter and property manager that the compressor on my 5 year old unit was broken and would need replacement. I was offered to replace the compressor for $1800, the outside unit for $2400, or the entire system for $3800. The recommendation of the repairman was to do the entire system. I was concerned that I might not be getting the best price, and I called Beaufort Heat and Air for a second opinion. The service manager at Beaufort Heat and Air was concerned that the Dean's Custom Air repairman might be wrong, he questioned a catastrophic failure in a 5 yr old unit. Beaufort Heat and Air sent their technician out and he found a faulty valve which was repairable with labor for under $400. They did the work and I have had no problems and that was 3 months ago. I called the Dean's Custom Air service manager when they billed me for their and quot;service calland quot;. To Dean's Custom Air credit, when I confronted the service manager about the awful quality of their service call and the implications of me being out thousands of dollars for no good reason, they withdrew the bill. Their recommended service would have fleeced me for thousands and only fixed the problem by luck if I had agreed to replace the outside unit or the complete system. My recommendation to you as an absentee landlord who has to rely on the quality of repair workmanship is this: Buyer beware if you use Dean's Custom Air for any repair work. I don't have any reason to trust their repair work, and neither should you. At least get another company to assess the repair and offer a competing bid for the repair that way you can verify that the technician from Dean's Custom Air had a clue. I had great service from Beaufort Heat and Air and would use them again in a heartbeat over Dean's Custom Air.

They are extremely responsive on getting to me and I will use them again in the future.

They were probably the most honest among all the three companies I contacted. They were not trying to sell me the whole new unit. They were very prompt. They told me the truth about what the real problems were. I did take a second opinion on that and that was right what they told me. They were forthright about telling me the things. I would use them in the future.
