The cord around for example, instead of a blunt cut they gave it a finished angle trim. A company that does that, well you should see the rest of his quality work! + 5 moreExcellent service!! Chris made contact with my wife, set up a time to complete the repairs and met with my wife. He had to replace the dishwasher, so they went to a local retailer to buy a new one, which he installed quickly and efficiently. He easily corrected the problems with our ceiling fan and dishwasher, and adjusted a window balancer in the master bedroom. Terrific value and experience--will recommend and definitely use again!!
Description of Work: We needed him to repair/replace a dishwasher, service or repair a clothes washer, repair a ceiling fan, adjust a window balancer, and replace locks at our condo.

We were concerned that sanding the textured paint off the walls would create a huge dust mess to clean up however the sander was attached to a large vacuum and the dust issue was 95% mitigated and easily wiped away. Physical install of the pocket door, framing went well and door looks and works perfectly giving privacy to 2nd and 3rd bedrooms and 2nd bath without the original swing door intrusion. Highly recommend Penar Improvements, Also be prepared to discuss the project and requirements with Mr. Penar, he knows his business and will gladly share constructive suggestions on how to complete the job with the best final result.

+ -1 moreChris arrived on time, and the work was completed expertly and efficiently. Everything was left tidy. What he charged was more than fair and under quote. I was very nervous about how the cabinet would be re-hung and requested more screws be added to that cabinet and the other wall cabinets as well. They probably weren't necessary, but Chris understood that I had trust issues with how the cabinets were originally hung, and he put in those screws just so I'd feel better (and I do). I am now confident the cabinets will not be jumping off the wall in the future. While Chris was here, I asked him about future projects I had in mind. He gave me some good advice and I know that when I am ready to start those projects, Chris will be the person I call.
Description of Work: Chris Penar re-hung a kitchen wall cabinet for me, and secured the other wall cabinets as well.

Description of Work: Extremely unprofessional. Chris of Penar Improvements gave me a quote on a minor job. He told me he could start it in two weeks. I asked him could he do it sooner and he said one of his guys could do it in a few days. The day before I sent Chris a text to inquire about the time his employee would arrive. He texted me back the following: “Unfortunately we will have to pass on your project.” I responded back: Okay. It would’ve been good business practice for you to reach out to me and let me know that you changed your mind instead of waiting for me to text you. I was referred to you by Angie’s List and I will update the website to let everyone know how unprofessional you are. 😡

+ 3 moreChris is very professional. Was easy to contact and returned my call that very evening. He explained he doesn't answer calls while he is working. That was a plus to me! We set up a day/time and he came out 3 days later. Chris removed a chandelier and installed a ceiling fan. He also installed a new kitchen faucet. While he was here he measured and looked at other projects I want to do. He gave me some good tips and advice on organizing our closet and laundry room. His ideas were much better than mine. It showed he cares about helping us make our home and space better. Chris also took some trash, boxes and the old chandelier to the dump for me. We are planning on having Chris come out for a few more projects within the next couple weeks. He did a great job and we were pleased.

+ 1 moreChris was tremendous. He installed a large 9pc Wine Center that included heavey pre-assembled cabinets that needed to be installed against a wall and some hung on the wall. Needless to say he did an awesome job. He was knowlegable, meticulous and efficient. I was even surprised when he wnet to install a piece of molding he wiped it clean first!! Came with all his tools and was able to handle all aspects of the job. He insured the cabinetry was level and even. He did trim work to add a nice look to the cabinets as well. When he saw something he didn't like "ok" wasn't good enough for him. I was truly impressed by his love for his work. There is no question that when I need a handyman/carpenter in the future he will be my first call.

Description of Work: Our overall experience with Chris Penar and his team was excellent. We provide in home care for a parent, and came home to discover a major leak required renovations of family room ceiling, gutting a laundry room and bathroom. This made continued home care impossible until the repairs were completed. I really appreciated Chris's sensitivity to our situation, he came the same day I contacted him and assisted in developing a scope of work for the insurance claim. He always showed up when he said he would, was personally involved in overseeing the work performed and had some of the tile work redone as it wasn't to his standard. He also was exceptional in paying attention to all the details including the flooring/shower membranes in the bath and laundry room, and everything was completed within 30 days of my first call. Chris had one of his guys working over Labor Day weekend to be sure we could move our parent home the following day. I will definitely use Chris on any future work. In numerous examples Chris's depth of knowledge resulted in a better result, completed on time, and at a more affordable cost. I highly recommend Penar Improvements, Chris has a core team that work exclusively on his projects so you aren't subject to the delays often experienced with other contractors/sub-contractors.

Description of Work: I submitted a report on Penar Improvements on 6/12/12. I was disappointed that Chris Penar didn't return my calls as I had more work for him to perform in my kitchen. Chris called me on 6/13/12 and he explained to me that he was having phone problems and didn't receive my messages. As soon as he realized that his phone wasn't working right, he called me right away. I understood and decided to give him a chance to make things right. He immediately came to my home and installed the under cabinet lighting and installed the hardware on my kitchen cabinets. I couldn't be more pleased! Everything turned out beautiful!

+ -1 moreI found him in the yellow pages, and his ad said "as seen on TV." I wasn't sure what I'd be getting with that ad, but he had incredible workmanship. He was very professional and had invoice and license number at the ready. He said he’d been doing this for 30 years. He hung some doors and installed 2 hand railings to match original appearance of the home and to be period accurate; he also repaired an attic grill, with no hesitation, that had been damaged by animals.
Description of Work: He did all sorts of quality work in my home.
