I know, I never write reviews like this?that?s what everyone says. But seriously, check the net, you won't find one bad review from me, other than this one. I got r - - - - d off. I have managed 50 + rental properties in Myrtle Beach over the last decade, unfortunately, in this situation, the property is further than my regular guy will travel, it?s actually in NC and my guy?s not licensed in NC My current clients of 8+ years have two properties I manage and recommended this company. I thought I?d give them a shot. Saturday evening, my new tenants called that the HVAC was frozen up. That, in most cases means a capacitor. I called Martins (Martin) Heating and Air, North Myrtle Beach on Sunday morning and agreed to there 120. Weekend charge. I don?t mind that, as I know it?s a Sunday. What I do mind; I was told the fan relay board was bad, and they?d have to come back on Monday. They didn?t have a price for the board. This is all in the Air handler by the way. Freon levels all good. The technician said he bypassed the fan relay board to keep the unit running until they could get the board the following day. He replaced the capacitor. Mind you people, I was in the rafters with the repair guy watching the repair. I always, Always show up on service calls to monitor what?s going on (and learn), so after 10 years and currently 48+ properties, I know a few things. I didn?t trust what was going on so I had another HVAC company come out on Monday, the next day 8/31/2015 Nothing was bypassed, and there was nothing wrong with the board. They only thing that needed replacement was a 4.83 cent capacitor. (That's not a typo) I don?t mind paying for the 120. Service call, I agreed to that. I have the capacitor in front of me as we speak, ?Martin Heating and Air charged me 90. For the capacitor. When I called on Monday to discuss the bill, the owner was obnoxious; ?he said well the tenant is happy right? Isn?t that what?s important? No, what?s important is not getting r - - - - d off and to have a happy tenant at the same time. That?s called win win. He then went on to say that capacitor was actually 173. And that my bill was in fact 293. Instead of 210. They gave me a discount on the 4.83 cent capacitor. I?ve never paid more than 50. For a capacitor, and that ?s a dual capacitor?for the outside unit. This was a single in the air handler. Total rip, and deceptive. Not only that, but to tell me the board was bad and they did this bypass to keep the unit running until they could replace the board. No bypass was done. I?ve been on this beach 10 years in business; this has been the worst experience! $210. Won?t change my life much. I don?t like trashing peoples business, but I ain't stupid, and being taken advantage of is more annoying than writing an honest review. I tried to work it out with the owner and to be treated like this demands a review. Horrible experience. It's not even about the money at this point. These guys are to be avoided. Worst experience on this beach in 10 years. I pay roughly 20 invoices a year for my clients, the properties I manage, have done for a decade. I know what things cost. The repair and trouble shoot was a 15 minute job. I did call my client, they know my character. I told them the whole story, and now the world knows the rest of the story?.

I called Martin's and talked with a very nice lady about getting a price on a new heatpump and was told someone would call me ASAP. Ricky called me back shortly after that and we setup a time to meet. He was there when he said he would be and seemed to be knowledgeable, honest and easy to talk with. We agreed on a new unit and price. This is a vacation home and I would not be there while the job was being done but I felt comfortable after talking with Ricky. I gave him a key and told him I would be back in 2 weeks. When I got back down there everything looked good and the new unit heated quickly. I would use Martin's again.
Description of Work: Replaced heatpump, enlarged return and relpaced return under house.

Around 8:00 on a Friday night I noticed it was getting warm in the house. I turned the AC off, let it set, and back on. No cool. I called Mr. Martin around 9:00 PM, he showed up 45 minutes later, and by 10:30 the AC was working. He's my first and only AC repair call from here on out!
Description of Work: Repair of air conditioning. Specifically, he replaced the starter capacitor, late one Friday evening.

After we stayed in out new home for a few days, we noticed that the heat was not working the way we thought it should. Being accustomed to hot water base board heat, we did not know what to expect with the forced air heat. Ricky came out as promised and walked us through the entire process. He was really very helpful and said we could call him anytime.
Description of Work: Installed HVAC system in our new home. Service Call
