Paint One Inc

IThis was a Big Deal" offered on Angie's List...680 square feet (has now been reduced to 650) or 3 rooms painted for $399. Initial response was prompt and professional and a date was set up for the work. I was surprised to be told that the crew would be sent without an initial visit by an inspector/estimator. Not comfortable with this, I asked for it and was told he would be there the same time as the crew. Everyone showed up on time. I learned how square footage is calculated for painting. This offer would cover the equivalent of three small rooms I wanted my living room, a short hallway, and a laundry room done. I was told that my living room would be considered two rooms for purposes of the deal. And the laundry room would be the third room. So the hallway was out...regardless of square footage. The estimator said that technically none of my rooms were "qualified" rooms even though I did not see a limitation in the ad except for nine-foot ceilings. (These were eight feet.) Then I learned what is considered trim work. I had assumed door and window trim. I learned that it also includes chair rail and baseboard. I had wanted these painted the same color as the walls. Did not happen. I had caulked and sanded any areas that needed it. There were no nail holes or any other similar work...only painting. I was told that I would have to prime these areas before they could paint them. The paint I had bought was expensive, high quality paint with a primer combined with the paint. Would not work...I still had to prime those areas. Two coats of paint was the offer. The wait time, according to the manufacturer, is two hours before recoating. I did not keep track of the time exactly...dealing with other contractors doing other renovations...but my impression was that the crew did not wait two hours. They were in and out very quickly. If they did not wait, I'm not sure how this will hold up over time. There was no furniture to move...and carpet is being replaced so no need for dropcloths. I thought this might offset any other factors, such as the "trim" work, but there was no negotiation. To sum up, these people are prompt and courteous, but their ad is not clear. Personally I would not use them again, but would not advise others not to use them. If you need three small rooms painted quickly, it it not a bad deal.

From start (estimate) to finish (clean up), my husband and I were very satisfied with the professionalism , courtesy and quality of work. We noticed one minor detail that needed correcting after the crew left... we called the General Mgr. and not only did he have his men return within the hour but he, himself, came by to double check the work. /We would not hesitate to recommend Paint One or use them again for painting and/or any other services they provide.

They were punctual, professional and did good work! I think they could work on their fairness and communications.

The house is halfway done and we are very pleased. We will look at this company also for interior paint work.

Workers very punctual and hard working. Excellent job of wallpaper removal and repainting. I wasn't prepared for all the dust that got on all furniture in most of the rest of the house. Had to do a thorough cleaning afterward.

The 2 young men (brothers) arrived right on time, looked over the project then got right to work. All floors were covered (we had minimal furniture) and they worked very quickly and efficiently. Initially Samuel the estimator thought the job might take 1 1/2 or 2 days but these young men stayed and finished in 1 day leaving about 7pm. We had a function to attend and had to leave them alone to finish up and they cleaned up and locked up our house for us. They did an excellent job and we were very pleased with the work. We would use their services again!

It all went quite well. When I called for an estimate, Pedro showed up on time. He viewed the work and made the necessary measurements. He presented me with an estimate on the spot. I did complain that the 20% off agreement had to be disclosed BEFORE the estimate was presented; however, I have no reason to question that the estimate reflected that discount. The projected cost represented a significant expense for us. Shortly thereafter an agreement was submitted and accepted via email. On the first day (and each subsequent day) the crew showed up on time. The project manager, Dwayne Graham, came on that first day and affirmed the details of the agreement. I asked that an additional two new pairs of shutters be painted and installed, and he agreed to add this to the agreement for $50. The work then proceeded apace. Each day of the four the crew worked in a professional manner, with good leadership from Tomas. At the end of each day, everything was straightened up and all equipment taken from the site. My wife and I enjoyed having them at our place. After a few days, we noticed the paint on the new shutters was bubbling up. Now Paint One had a chance to prove it stands behind its work. And they did! I emailed Dwayne, and he had a crew out in short order.They immediately began to strip ALL of the paint from the shutters. After priming, they began to apply the shutter paint, using the unfunished product that had been left with us. The workman was not pleased with the consistency of the paint. Dwayne took the paint to the local Sherwin Williams store where they suspected an inferior batch had gotten through. Other possible answers were the unreceptive surface of a new vinyl shutter and/or the possible thinning of the paint for a spraying application. Nevertheless, the situation was made right, and the result was excellent. It appears our paint job is now complete. However, I do have a concern about two possible problems in the not-to-distant future. The shutters in the front of the house are painted with the same original batch as the others. At this time it appears to be adhering well. After all, they were well-weathered. Also, the decorative metal support for the front stoop is showing small signs of rust-through. I do not know if this surface was sealed before being painted. Winter should help us see if this application will be durable. Neither of these cause me any undue concern, because I now know Paint One stands behind the quality of its work. In the meantime, we are enjoying our beautiful paint job and the compliments it draws from many friends and neighbors.

All Paint One representatives were polite, knowledgeable and thorough throughout our business transactions. All calls and emails were promptly returned and they worked efficiently. I will definitely do business with them again.

Positive but at a "B" level and based upon previous reviews was expecting and "A".

Called Paint One and talked to Dwayne about our needs and asked him to come to the house to give us a quote for painting the house. He arrived promptly and walked around the house with me. I told him the history of the painting of the house the last time and asked him how to avoid the bad experience we had before. He pointed out to me several places where, because of the condition of the siding, new paint would not adhere for long. i agreed with every point he made. I also pointed out problem areas the previous painter had hidden just to make more of a profit. Dwayne made some very good suggestions for other repairs and issues that needed to be addressed in order to make the house's exterior look it's best from a paint and siding perspective. I completely agreed with all of his suggested and realized that the main interest of Paint One is to do a thorough job and making the resulting painting look as good as possible. In other words a company of integrity. Dwayne came back with a quote that was comprehensive and fair considering the amount of siding that needed to be replaced, the condition of the exsisting paint, and the size of the house. Once the contract was signed Pedro too came out to make sure that everything that needed to be done was included in the contract. He added a few other small things to their scope of work without adding additional charges simply because they needed to be done and wouldn't subtract significantly to profit. Everyone at Paint One wanted the prep and painting to be done right and for us to be happy with the results. Work began on the date promised and continued, uninterupted, until the job was done. The crew leader, Havier was very detailed and held the crew to a high standard. The crew itself held itself to a high standard and Dwayne came to the sight frequently to monitor the work. Havier and Dwayne were finding issues that needed to be addressed that even my critical eye didn't see. There were three walk throughs at the end of the job. In each case, the employees of Paint One were far more critical than I was and quickly fixed things they weren't happy with. Paint One went WAY beyond the call to make sure that the job was done right and that I was happy with the result. They also did extras that I would never expected of a painting company such as replacing the flood lights around the house that were sometimes 20 ft off the ground. I couldn't be happier with the entire experience with Paint One and intend to use them for all my painting needs from now on.The price may seem high but we got huge value for our dollar..

It went very well. They were not the cheapest quote, nor were they the highest. We specificed premium grades of Sherwin Williams products for the inside, outside and deck, which probably raised the price slightly, but the house is in an exposed, high-altitude environment, so we thought the upgrade was required. This may have raised the quote slightly. The estimator, the owner, the foreman and the crew were all polite, punctual and professional. The house is in a remote location and the job took a full week to complete. They stayed busy, and took care of the furniture and floors, and were easy to work with regarding small changes, additions. When they saw small issues that were overlooked in the initial bid, they addressed the issues without complaint. We were not there for the entire week, so we trusted them with the key to the house and there were no problems. We asked them to return a few weeks later to address a small part of the job that had been overlooked, and they did so without complaint, and again were punctual, polite and professional. We would not hesitate to use them again, and we strongly recommend working with Pedro and Paint One.

Beautiful professional job. 3 painters came on time. They are professional and polite. Covered all furniture with plastic. Prepped walls. I provided base paint and top coat. They were done in one day. I am very happy with the result!

The gent who came to view my apartment to give me an estiimate was right on time, and very gracious. The gent who answers their phones was very gracious, too, when I phoned with a change in paint color. I also phoned another time with a question. The paint job was excellent, and there were no fumes when I visited two days later. The company also says that they don't require a penny down payment: "We want you to pay only after you are completely satisfied with the job."

Got a reference, went on Angie's to check comments, called, got estimate, compared to others, signed contract.

We had an extremely favorable experience. We dealt primarily with Dwayne who went out to do the estimate. We were in communication with him via email and phone throughout the sheduling and job. Rick in the office and Pedro who supervised the crew were great. We do not live in the house so we had to communicate remotely. Right from the start we had a friendly and professional experience. We called and emailed with questions and received immediate response and answers. The estimate was done promptly and Dwayne was very informative as he pointed out various things he noticed as he did the estimate. He came across as extremely knowlegeable. The estimate was provided within a day and was the best estimate we received. Most of the other estimates (we had 7 in all) came in significantly higher. They cleaned up and washed the windows when they were done. They had several bees nests to deal with and did so without a problem. They washed the windows and cleaned up after they were done to our satisfaction. They guarantee their work. We highly recommend them and will definitely use Paint One Inc. again.

Dwayne the project manager did show up on time on Wed. 07-25 at 5:30, but left his truck motor running while he was looking at my house. I was asking questions, popular colors, paint or stain, should I replace some older cedar boards. All he kept telling was, that would be your choice. I was asking questions and felt he was completely clueless. He told me that I would have an estimate on Monday 07-30. As os 08-05 I have not received a estmate or any phone calls from him. I wonder why contractors have a bad name in the business. Will not recommend this company for ANY business. When Dwayne left his truck motor running, that wasn't a good first impression. Remember, first impressions, are lasting impressions. I felt my evenig with him was wasted. .

This work was completed within the time estimated (2 days). The clean up was taken care of by the Paint One Painters and we were able to sit back and enjoy the finished product. Six months later I still find myself admiring the quality work and enjoying the beauty of my home.

Paint One did an excellent job and everything is great.
