First of all... if you had a ten star rating.. this would be the company to whom you should award it. Cannot say enough kind words.. grateful words about these folks. House was built in 1890 so any plumbing, wiring, heating and air... is not the usual run of the mill job. The house did not have air conditioning until about 25 years ago.. a few years before we purchased it. At that time, the owner had units installed that were strip electric heat and air conditioning. The house has a working boiler and hot water radiators. We replaced two of the four units many years ago with gas packs.. but one lower unit that just heats a seldom used area and the upstairs unit were not replaced. The upstairs unit has not be used for years.. but with a lot of house guests coming.. it was TIME! And while Lim Ric was coming to assess that situation, I, asked that they check the one older downstairs unit that wouldn't come on. The thermostat had been replaced about a year ago.. but at the present time.. it was not cooling. The first company representative came and agreed that the upstairs unit was a dinosaur.. it was a TWO seer and it was a goner. He checked the older downstairs unit and found nothing wrong with it.. thinking it might be a loose wire, he checked the thermostat connections... and found.. two AAA batteries that were dead! We had no idea the thermostat needed batteries! Quite honestly, he could have just told us to replace that unit. that it was also toast.. but no.. he asked for 2 batteries. and we had cool air. We will likely replace that unit in the near future anyway.. but that almost funny situation assured us that these folks are honest and are not trying to make a fortune at the customer's expense. The second young man who came was the sales representative and he appraised the situation and gave us an estimate on replacing the upstairs unit.. noting that it was NOT an easy job. We knew enough to know that was definitely true. But, the price quoted was very reasonable and we agreed immediately. It was obvious that Jason knew his business and would replace the unit with something more economical and energy efficient. We were surprised at the prompt installation service! Am sure there may be other times in the future when they have other jobs ahead of us.. and believe me, we will be patient. Lim Ric is worth waiting for. The two young men who did the installation were so personable and so complimentary of their employer. One knows you are in good hands when the worker bees praise the Queen bee! They both know that it is a company effort.. the owner appreciates the professionalism and quality work done by his people.. and the workers know that they make up the fabric of the company... but they can also appreciate the enormous investment that the owner has made in order to create jobs. Professional is the ultimate label here.. appearance, actions, words.. you name it. And the trucks are the most colorful vehicles on the Charleston area roadways! We have always taken comfort in dealing with one particular person or firm through our almost 50 years of marriage... it makes life easier when you know you are dealing with people you can trust. Our former HVAC professional has retired.. But, we now know that we have LimRic to help fill out our days in creature comfort! Just a great experience overall!!!

I contacted them first on May 6 in the morning about getting an estimate for replacing the duct work in our house. They took my information and said that someone would contact me. I left 2 different contact numbers. I did not hear anything from them on the 6th or 7th. Called again on the 8th and was told that they would have someone contact me that day. Did not hear from them at all.

They are wonderful. They measured all our door openings, our window openings and they got us the right size unit for the home. We we just so impressed. He went up to the attic and they had to change the size of our intakes to make it larger. It was amazing what they had to do to make it right. They are just amazing. We'll be using them again if we needed to.

I have no complaints at all. They were very courteous and very efficient. I called them before they opened the morning after my unit quit working. They called me back within 30 minutes of opening, and were here to fix it very quickly. They were finished and gone within an hour! The price was also very reasonable, especially considering this being for an emergency situation.

I came home from work at 4pm and noticed the house was warm. Day was 90 + degrees. I checked the unit outside and the fan wasn't turning. I called LimRic at 4:10 and a service man was at my house at 4:50. He checked the unit and under the house noticed that there was a foot and a half of standing water, which submerged the condensate pump, causing the unit to shut off. He then checked the sump pump we had for water drainage and it wasn't working. He attempted to get it started, but to no avail. We talked and he suggested we get the plumbing division to come out and pump the water out before he could replace the condensate pump, as he was sure it was toast. He was unable to get the plumbing service man until 10pm, so I said we could wait until the morning. He offered a window unit to help with the heat that evening, but I had one in the garage. The plumber came in the am and got the sump pump going and said the AC guy would be back in a few hours after the water was pumped out. When AC guy came, there was still water as the sump pump failed again. I decided to haven him take the condensate pump out so the unit could be started and we would replace the condensate and sump pumps later. There guys were the nicest and most professional service men I've ever had. They really wanted to get the unit started as soon as possible. I can't believe I only spent $150 and had 3 different service guys spend approximately 4 hours of service. Will definitely use them in the future.

They were very timely, I called in the morning and they were able to make an appointment and be on time in just a couple of hours. They remove the toilet and repaired the flange to be in better condition then when they started even though it was not what they came out for. The used a camera to inspect the line but found no issues. Overall a great experience, if a bit pricey for services performed. I've not had this done before so I cannot compare pricing to other local plumbers. I would use them again.

We could buy a contract with them though it is not a guarantee of it's working, but they will come out and inspect it twice a year, before we need the air conditioning in the summer and before we need the heat in the winter. They will inspect the unit. Their customer service is excellent.

Description of Work: I had a new H&A unit installed by a different company about 8 months earlier. When my unit stopped working, on a holiday weekend, I couldn't get in touch with the company that installed the unit (they wouldn't answer or return my calls) so I called Limric. They came right away and took care of the situation - works like new now, and I have them on a maintenance plan for future service.

We've been using this and the parent company for several years on an annual heating/air service contract. Service is solid, and we'd recommend them to others. They are quick to respond, and to fix the problems. Just be sure that you understand what's going on from year to year, because sometimes their records are not accurate.
Description of Work: Repairs associated with bi-annual inspection. Parts were installed and work completed in a timely fashion. Replaced a burner and ignitor on each of two units. Service personnel and office personnel always attempt to be prompt, efficiency and polite. Always careful to be clean when working inside the house.

The repair seemed to take care of the problem. The technician seemed to know what he was doing and said the problem was that the drain was clogged by leaves and debris. I asked to see where the pipe outside was located so that I could attempt to keep the area around it clear to prevent future problems. He was professional and was here less than 30 minutes. My complaint with the service was the price. I was charged $79 for the service call and an additional $104.05 for the actual service.Since then, I noticed more leaking, but not sure it's from the same pipe. I've called another heating and air company, explained the problem and asked if they had a service call charge. They do not and their rate is under $90 and hour. Needless to say, I would have saved a lot of money had I called them the first time.

We signed up for the one-year maintenance agreement to clean our units at $195.00 twice a year. Michael came and worked on the inside unit in our attic and the outside unit at the back of the house. He said that our compressor was completely shot and not working even though it had a hardstart on it, along with multiple other issues. Yes, both units are over 10 years old and need replacing, but my partner who is knowledgeable on AC found out that he had removed the disconnects and neither unit was on. (Making a long story short...) LimRic was called back out the next day, the 2nd LimRic tech said the upstairs unit was running. We had an independent AC repairperson come to look at our units and he said there wasn't a hard start on the compressor. He's going to return at a later date to see if he can repair the units so they'll work for another 1-2 years for us. We got estimates from Morelli's, LimRic and Carolina Comfort Specialists, LLC (each with 3 different units) ranging from $5,000 to $10,000. At this time we'll have to save up in order to replace both units. LimRic was NOT bad or unprofessional, I just don't have enough trust to use them for a complete replacement.
Description of Work: Per the initial work order dated 7/12/12: 1st time cleaning, collect $195; Write agreement; compressor draws 96 LRA w/hard start. Indoor coil rusted, secondary and primary pan rusted. Recommend replacement of float S?, C?, blown capacitor; cleaned indoor coil, sealed blower panel w/tape; rinsed cond? coil w/H2O. Heavy mold in A/H. 2nd visit dated 7/13/12: Checked system, found unit to have a bad compressor. Compressor pulling LRA while trying to start. Unit wouldn't start even after installing hard start.

We think their prices were good. They are knowledgeable and they do a very thorough job whenever they come out. They have a really good receptionist. In fact the last time we called her she told us that she has scheduled us for the next seasonal maintenance now itself so that we are not much later that way. In other words when the seasons change over one needs to be looking at the next season. She gave me a good idea of that and we need to shift our business a little bit. We appreciated that advice from her.

The contractor, who will be remodeling my guest house, suggested I use this company (as he usually uses them for "sub" work). I looked them up on Angie's List and was alittle reluctant to give them a chance, seeing they got a "B" grade (unfairly) - but I liked my contrator so much, I decided to trust his opinion. I called the company and the next day they came out and gave me a quote. He explained all the possibilities and what we could do to my house, but I explained to him that this would not be my "forever" home (military) and he tried to look for alternatives to keep the price down. Jason explained all the systems to me and how they worked to save me money and keep my house warm in the winter and cool in the summer. He also kept in mind, that I wanted to recapture the governement energy tax incentive. That day, after the meeting, he had his secretary email me two proposals, for me and my husband to look over. I didn't wanna go with the first company I interviewed, so I set up 2 more interviews with other companies.....mind you, with other companies that had recieved "A's" on Angie's List - needless to say, I didn't go with those companies (espeically with one particular "company", who I feel is not deserving of an "A"). I contacted Limbaker Heating and Air, told them I wanted to move ahead and they schedule me for the following week. They had 3 men come and work on the heating and cooling system and everyday Jason (Limbakers General Manager) and the Site Supervisor stopped by everyday to see how things were going....they even offered to bring by space heaters to my house because we would be without heat for a day or two! By day two, they had my entire system running and stayed late to make sure that we had heat. The entire job took only 3 days and they even worked on Veterans Day:^) By they way, for all those clean freaks out there, after every work day they cleaned up after themselves! I have no idea why these guys have gotten a "B" from Angie's List members, but I'm DEFINITELY giving them an "A" and my future business! Thanks Limbaker Heating and Air!!!

Great job and done well. The three men that assisted in the total installation were professional and tried to inform us of any items that were not known at the time of startup. Living next to the water caused many moisture problems and made their work more difficult. When we did have questions, someone was always available to answer them. Mr. Richter gave me his cell phone number and made himself available to answer any questions my wife or myself might have. Mr. Richter had his leg operated on during this installation time. I wasn't aware that he was on the operating table, the day I called. He returned my call the very next day from home while recovering. What a rare commodity in today's world. I could not have asked for a more professional group of men and women that work at Richter's.
Description of Work: They completely gutted the a/c and furnace and replace with new energy efficient equipment. Removed the total duct work and replaced with new. Installed a new UV light and installed a highly precision electronic filter system. The installation included completely covering the crawl space with heavy plastic and installed a commercial dehumidifier. The installers were professional and endured many problems that had been contributed to living on the water front.

Had used this company for years, but selected another vendor to install new units. Bill was received after I notified them that I was using someone else. While they did adjust the bill, I still believe that the work performed does not justify the amount I paid.
Description of Work: Called for service on 2 units and told them that 1 unit was not working properly. Did a "routine" service on working unit and determined that condenser on other was shot and whole unit needed to be replaced. Nothing else was done on the broken unit. Technician was there about 20 min. Received a bill for $400 for maintenance on both units. Had to negotiate adjustment.

I have a yearly service contract with this company. They came out to do my Spring/Summer servicing on my two systems (one is two years old, and the other is eleven years old). They discovered that the compressor motor on the older system was not working, so they replaced the motor. They said the cost would be $300. That did not solve my problem, my heat pump/air conditioner still did not work. They said my compressor was shot. I was trying to decide whether or not to just get a new compressor at cost of about $1600, or get a whole new system. They gave me an estimate for a new 3 ton Trane 14 seer package unit of $6500. I called another AC company for another estimate and they would not sell me a 3 ton unit. They said a 2.5 ton unit would be sufficient, but that I needed to increase the size of my duct work underneath my house. The cost of the 2.5 ton unit was going to be $6700 plus $4200 for the duct work. I had Limbaker's come out and give me an estimate for replacing my duct work. They said the main trunk line was fine, and that I just needed to increase the size of my return ductwork, at a cost of $200. They said that if I decided to just get a new compressor, then a would owe the $300 for the motor they had replaced. But if I got a whole new system, then they would not charge me for the motor. This company (Limbakers) is VERY honest and reasonable.
Description of Work: I had a complete new heat pump/air conditioning system installed. They also removed and hauled away my old system. They also did some duct work for me at at cost of ($300) compared to another local company that said I needed $4200 in duct work. The installation crew (2 men) showed up exactly when they said they were going to and worked all day (8:30am-4:30pm) in 97 degree heat and humidity without taking any breaks, not even a lunch break. They were very professional, friendly, and cleaned up every last bit of debris at the end of the day. The installation manager stopped by during the day to check that everything was going okay.

Our 3 bedroom beach house on the Isle of Palms needed a new HVAC system. The old one had too many repairs. Since we are reasonably close to the ocean we wanted a very high quality unit that would be resistant to the salt air and function well for many years. Also we rent the property and breakdowns can be costly if we loose a renter. Since we don't live in SC we contacted our contractor John Altenburg (First John LLC, see his site) for advice on HVAC companies. He strongly recommended Limbaker based on his experience with local companies. John's advice was born out. Jason McCabe of Limbaker reviewed the necessary changes needed to accommodate the new unit and the system was set up very professionally. The installation went extremely well. The old units were removed as part of the service. A review was scheduled with us re the functioning of the system and a little leaking air was found in the air handler system. This was taken of care right after the Memorial weekend. The system runs very quietly and is very responsive to the thermostat. The price listed includes a 10 year extended warranty for parts and labor.
Description of Work: An American Standard 15 SEER 2.5 Ton Air Handler with a 10 KW Electric Heater was installed in the attic of our beach house. The Air Handler was installed in a new safety drain pan with a safety float switch on a wooden platform. The unit tied into the existing duct work, freon piping and 220 V power wiring. An American Standard 15 SEER 2.5 Ton heat pump condensing unit was installed in the shed below the house. A new Honeywell digital wall thermostat was installed. A new return plenum was built.

After completing the inspection the technician gave us a written report stating that he had put in the R-22 and found a leak in the outdoor unit, which he said would need to be replaced. According to the report, the indoor unit was OK, with no leaks. I signed a bill for $139 and he told me someone from the company would call on Monday. Although his explanation sounded plausible, we had just received a coupon in the mail (ValPak) for a free second opinion from another local HVAC company. I had them come out the next day their technician rechecked everything and found that the leak was not in the indoor unit and not the outdoor unit as Limbaker's report stated. I then decided to use the second company. Limbaker's GM called on Monday and I told him I was dissatisfied with the experience and was not going to use them. A day later we got a bill from Limbaker for $364. I called and complained and the bill was reduced to $225, which I paid.
Description of Work: Technician called to repair airconditioning unit that was running but not cooling. He added 5 lbs R-22 and inspected both indoor and outdoor units.
