He priced the work for repairing the low voltage wiring issue. He came out on a Saturday which is not a normal workday, as when you spoke with our office, you was wanting same day service at 4:30 in the afternoon. She was being very patient and trying to get as much information as possible for the technician and sending him out on a Saturday. He diagnosed your issue and told you what he found at no charge to you on a Saturday. The issue was not with the light fixture like you explained to the office but instead a low voltage wire coming in the home. We are sorry you felt the estimate was too high. Cabinets on both sides of dishwasher were rotted and needed replacement. He called Lowes, picked up replacements, did the repairs, and installed the dishwasher all on the same day. He had to do electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work and was capable of all aspects of the job. When the dishwasher failed after only a week, he came back to check it. GE found that it was a sensor not connected properly from factory-not the handyman's fault.
Description of Work: Originally, I needed a new dishwasher installed and some repair work to interior cabinets.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your statement on being unhappy with Handyman Connection. Having conversation with the craftsman per your "estimate" that was provided. Also, concerns with the original scheduled appointment. The craftsman that arrived at your home to replace an exterior door and Soffit is a highly skilled qualified Craftsman. I am sure that you experienced by speaking with him, his knowledge toward the work that needed to be done. The workmanship is top notch and there are NO cutting corners in doing a job. At the end of the day we all have to sleep at night. It was suggested to purchase a pre-fab door at one of the local box stores and dismantle it and build it out to fit. Handyman Connection's craftsman was in search for the correct door and had the office staff search companies for the door with the correct measurements . It was stated that you, the customer were taken by other contractors in the past and you called Handyman Connection to fix the issues that came about job(s) being done poorly or incorrect. Well...you called the right company; Handyman Connection. I am sorry it took 3 weeks in providing you an estimate on the door. There are times the craftsmen and the office of Handyman Connection wait on Sales Reps from companies we purchase from, on material estimates. Constant phone calls, followups are done. Please if you don't hear from the office or Craftsman, do your do diligence, contact the office and we'll work to get the answers you need. We are here to serve not disappoint. The Owners of Handyman Connection will take this negative and share it with the Craftsmen and Office Staff so we are better aware of the response time on all Quotes. When I scheduled the appointment, I was very specific on the phone that we had electrical light sconces to be hung and needed an electrician. The person who did the work is not an electrician and his first comment was 'I can't do the work unless my boss approves." Permission was given by the boss and work began. Instead of two hours, the work took four hours. There are several places where he cut into the drywall and then repaired. The drywall repair is not very good and is noticeable when you look at it. It wasn't until the work was completed that the repairman noticed there is no on/off switch on the sconces. Proper installation would have tied into a wall switch instead of baseboard wall outlets. Currently, to turn the lights on and off, we have to tighten or loosen four separate light bulbs. As a consumer, we rely on the repair expert to point these things out to us; not surprise us when the work is completed. I will have to have additional work done, incurring more time and expense, to correct the improper installation done by Handyman Connection.

We strive to please our customers and as you can see all the wonderful reviews show are evident of that. Communication between the Homeowner to the Craftsman are crucial as it is between the Craftsman to the Homeowner. Please if you know the product that your purchased does not have an on/off switch or if you know that the wall switch shuts off a particular outlet, please rely that to the craftsman. And the craftsman should pick up on the foreseen issues as well. Handyman Connection would like to rectify the issue. We will have one of our Electricians out to perform what is needed.

I received a call from Handyman Connection almost immediately after posting a negative experience which gave them an F in workmanship. I spoke with Angie from Handyman in which she stated that she was sorry about my experience and she was here to do make it right for she didn't want to have such a rating. We agreed that she would send over another person to complete the work, but in the meantime, would I write a better review, I said no, for the work is done poorly and until the work is finished professionally I would not correct my review at this time. We set up an appointment but unfortunately we had to cancel because of a conflicting schedule, Angie was very helpful to set up another appointment. Michael arrived on time and returned the next day to complete the work professionally. I was very pleased as to how the Firm handled this situation, they went the extra mile to make sure that their client was very satisfied. I am very pleased with the professionalism of handling this situation and sending one of their best employee to handle the job, and Michael was that person, he knew exactly what needed to be done. If I needed additional work done, I would only call Handyman Connection knowing that Michael would be doing the work, otherwise I would not be using this firm.
Description of Work: The first service received back in March was to Caulking Shower Area and cover seams in Living Room minor repairs to wall board etc. The work at that time which I reported on Angie's List was very poorly executed for they sent over a newly hired person who didn't know how to repair with the proper equipment. I was very dissatisfied.

Handyman Connection came in at half the price of the next cheapest quote, and 1/4 of the highest quote! Quality work was done and everything was done that I wanted. Robert was very professional, respectful and did everything I asked; I highly recommend him. Definitely would use again.

We called for a quote with a full scope of work and materials needed for the job and were told we would be charged for the quote. What kind of contractor makes you pay first hand to go over a completed scope of work. We will not be calling these guys again, He seems to have the "handyman" job down. If hes seeking money before we even get working you can imagine what will come up during a repair. Poor customer service.

I was very excited and felt very comfortable contacting Handy Connection for my remodeling needs based on the reviews on Angie's List. They are licensed and bonded and everyone raved. I was even more pleased that when I was told someone could meet me in less than 24 hrs later to see the work I was wanting completed to be able to give me a quote. I understand when getting a quote getting the pricing of materials can take time, but two weeks??? I met with a contractor from Handyman Connection on a Friday (1/22) and he told me he could possibly have my quote ready for me on Sunday (1/24). Again confirming the reviews on Angie's List. The contractor and I spoke again on Saturday as I had a question and he was very nice to answer his phone and address my question. He mentioned it was going to Monday (1/25) before he would have my quote ready. I was fine with that...but then Monday came and went and I didn't hear anything. Not a phone call to say it's going to take more time, NOTHING. People are busy, I understand, so Tuesday 1/26 I sent him a text message asking when my quote would be ready, I was then told Wednesday (1/27), that he was waiting on some numbers from his door guy. Well here we are two weeks (2/5) after our original appointment and I haven't heard hide nor hair regarding a quote, no communication whatsoever...dead silence. Making it very obvious to me my business is not wanted. Either my money isn't good enough or they aren't capable to perform the remodel and job I was looking to have complete. I work in the sales industry, so I know 80% of people always tell about a bad experience and 20% of people speak of a good experience. Many have asked me how my renovations are going and they now know that I haven't heard from them and what company I was looking to use and several were looking to have renovations done to their home. And all of them have confirmed what I knew about contractors but was hoping, again based on the reviews on Angie's List, I wasn't going to run into that contractors are unprofessional and just don't seem to care, jobs are a dime a dozen. Highly disappointed in Handyman Connection and wouldn't recommend them

Handyman Connection response time in getting you scheduled for and appointment was swift. We took action, went to your residence, took all the information for the scope of the work. Our craftsman needed to wait on another supplier to finish your estimated quote. There are times where time lapse; not often, but, it does happen, I would not be speaking in truth if I were to say different. Working Projects are running during the estimates and a very small percentage of our estimates fall through the cracks. We apologize. Handyman Connection responded to your request of being dissatisfied with the delay in you receiving your estimated quote. We made several attempts to rectify the issue on the delay; 1.- Handyman Connection Owner apologized. 2. - Owner of Handyman Connection offered a free LEAD TEST to you, noting that your house is built prior to 1978. There is a fee of $125.00 for the test, 3. - Craftsman Apologized 4. - Craftsman offered to take $200.00 off your estimate. 5. - Craftsman offered to perform an extra project at no charge to rectify the issue. We here at Handyman Connection stand by our commitment to our customers. Happy and satisfied customers are our goal. We would not do anything to jeopardize the hard work that our craftsman and company work so hard to provide for our customers. There is one more important point that I would like to express. Don't ever assume that we don't need the job, we are here to serve our customers and do the best we can. They were extremely fast scheduling. I contacted them on Thursday and they were at our house the next day to help with the repairs.The electrician was knowledgeable and friendly. He was able to fix each issue we had with ease. They were fair on the pricing and were honest about the issues we had not making them more than they were. We would use them again for sure.

Since the start of the Handyman Connection Co., roofs were omitted service. The insurance for roofing is in a class of it's own. They haven't even finished from a year and a half ago. I haven't had anything more to do with them. They did two different jobs for me. One, for a friend of mine - a Chinese woman that works for me. They charged me for that and they did a good job on that. But, when they came to my house to do the work, they didn't charge me and they never completed. I don't know what happened to him. There was a disconnect between the head office of Handyman and this guy. I just didn't even pursue it further. It didn't cost me anything. They were responsive up to the point where he quit responding entirely. He was punctual when he started. He could have finished it.
Description of Work: He took down a shutter to replace it and then, never brought back the replacement shutter.

Handyman Connection of Charleston's new Owners make their vetting process a high priority for their craftsmen. Example; the Owner needs to be confident the skill of the craftsman to work at his own home. Also, all our Craftsmen carry a License in their field of skill, General Liability Insurance and Workman's Comp Insurance. We at Handyman Connection are a Insured, Licensed and Bonded Company as well. We would like to rectify the predicament of the missing shutter. I was very pleased with the work performed. I previously wrote a review stating they never came or called to let me know they were not coming on our scheduled appointment. Since then they called and sincerely apologized for the miscommunication on their part. They asked if they could rectify their mistake and we set up a new time and date. Everyone deserves a second chance and they turned a wrong into a right. I was very satisfied with the work they performed and would definitely use them again.

Everything about our interaction/communication with this company, with Steve the owner, with Joe the craftsman, as well as with office staff, were professional and fantastic. They called when they said they would; came when planned (initially craftsman was late - flooded roads - but called promptly to advise us). Work was accomplished in a day, with Joe working in a most focused, highly skilled and organized way. Several changes were made to our work list on "repair day", as better solutions to some of the issues were found and resulted in a trade-off -- a cabinet floor (shelf) in its entirety (rather than a partial patch) cost-traded for a replacement porch screen door, which in the end wasn't necessary. Fixes were novel and creative, and Steve and Joe worked together to come up with what we thought were very good solutions. For example, the sagging porch screen door was repaired with a "brace" that could be tightened or loosened by us as needed. In exchange for not having to replace the door, Joe laid an entire new floor (bottom shelf) in the kitchen cabinet that originally was only going to be patched. Steve had found out that the matching laminate flooring for the bar area was still available but only in stock at a more distant store, so he made a run to pick it up and get it back to Joe so work could still be accomplished on replacing some floor boards within the day. That matching laminate solved the problem without having to remove identical flooring from a linen closet to match and repair the damage. Joe's workmanship on this replacement floor was terrific (can't tell that anything had been done), as was his work on the replacement cabinet shelves (shelves look like originals), which were cut, installed and painted the same day, and while they were drying, he installed the new light fixture and caulked around it. And while working at length under the kitchen sink, Joe detected a very slow leak and suggested what might be needed to fix it in order to prevent further water damage. Steve checked back several times over the course of the day, initially to introduce Joe, then once to deliver the laminate flooring, and then to consult and check on our satisfaction with the projects that Joe completed. We received great service from Steve and great craftsmanship from Joe and would without hesitation recommend and use this company for any future projects.
Description of Work: Company owner, Steve, gave us a labor and materials estimate on 10-21-15, applying a $100 discount to the estimated cost of the service. The following needed repair: sagging and damaged flooring (bottom shelf) in two double kitchen cabinets (below counter), due to previous water damage; replacement of an approx. 4' x 4' section of laminate flooring at the back of the bar separating the kitchen from the living room, which had also at some time been water damaged; purchase, replace and paint sagging screen door on porch; install light fixture in master bath (we had fixture); and consult (only) on multiple small projects like removal of gum residue from old installation of ceramic tile; suggestions for filling space between front entry door and door frame; repair of chips in ceramic tile floors; possibilities for remodel of guest bathroom, to include removal of medicine cabinet and light fixture. We gave Steve a deposit the same day as his estimate and waited for a call to schedule the work. Work was then scheduled on 10-27-15. Although we did not get competing bids, we did feel confident from our interaction with Steve and from Angie's List reviews that we were getting a fair deal and that Steve, as a relatively new and very diligent owner, was going to do whatever necessary to earn our trust and business.

I had no problem setting up my appointment. Joe H. was my handyman. He showed up, assessed the job, and gave me a very detailed quote depending on what needed to be done. As it turned out once the wood was removed there was a lot of damage. The previous homeowner did the quick fix repair to sell the house. Joe was able to get the materials and do all the work that day. He did have to leave for a bit for a previous appointment but came back when that was done and finished before the evening .He explained and showed me all the work. To be honest it looked so good you can't tell anything was done. He thoroughly cleaned up the area and brought the trash to the curb. After having some bad experiences with Craigslist I will not hesitate to use the Handyman Connections again. An excellent experience through and through. I will not hesitate to use them again.
Description of Work: Fixed and painted some damaged fascia and structural damage in the soffet.

Mark was the service tech that came out and he did a great job. He first removed the siding in the way of the door, then got to work taking the old door out. Several pieces of the old wood siding needed to be removed to get the door out, but he showed me everything he wanted to do and did everything with no problems. Once the old door was removed, he cut out 1 of the 2x4 pieces for the frame and installed a 1x4 in its place. This was needed to make the frame opening larger for the new door. He also did some touch-up work on the rest of the frame as it was in need. I helped him get the new door into place. He checked it to be level and made sure it was going in right. He then did what was needed to get the new door in place. He caulked the openings well, as well as the bottom of the door, to ensure as little air as possible could escape. He then started putting everything back together, being sure to caulk here and there where it was needed. Then, he helped me to ensure the door operated properly. Once everything was done, he cleaned up the area well. The job actually took much longer than I thought it would, but he did way more than I thought was necessary...hence, the reason I did not do the work myself! The door looks and works great! Thanks!

Steve with Handyman Connections worked with me on finding this custom storm door I've been looking for. He was quick to respond to my emails and/or phone calls. Once the door was sourced, we scheduled an appointment for them to come out and give me a quote. I know Charleston housing market is booming and everyone is slammed with current jobs, especially this company! However, they fit me in the schedule and the door is now installed.
