+ -1 moreWhen my house was inspected, the inspector said that I needed to take care of the bathroom floor "sooner rather than later". He suggested I have a handyman do it because it was a simple matter. It made me nervous. I found House Doctors at a local home improvement showcase. I called and set an appointment. The technician was polite, informative, and provided me with an estimate on the spot. We scheduled the work at a time when I would not be there--my choosing--and when I got home it was done. I crawled under the house and checked it out for myself. I was a little disappointed at what had actually been done, but it agreed with what the inspector had suggested, so I knew it was right. Basically he added supports to the floor in my bathroom because at some time in the home's past, moisture had damaged the subfloor and two joists. I mailed off the check, but I felt a little disappointed. The cost of the materials (from the local home improvement store) adds up to less than $50. I was only at work for eight hours. That means the handyman-at the very least- cost $81/hr. Since it probably took less than two hours to do, I think his actual price was closer to $326/hr.
Description of Work: The subfloor and two joists in the bathroom were rotted with mold. I wanted to bathroom floor reinforced and given added support.
