(See above) The guys performing the work were very messy, and had no respect for our home. Tools were dropped on our hardwood floors. Items were run into walls, leaving gouges that were never repaired. They never cleaned up one time. Continually telling us what they would do on the next visit. It has now been 8 and 1/2 months, and the job is not complete. We are just sick.
Description of Work: We called Carolina Designer Cabinets to come out and give an estimate, and make recommendation on cabinet work we wanted done in the kitchen. Tony Goddard, their Sales and Installation Manager, came out to the house to talk to us about what we expected. He made many suggestions, took a lot of measurements, returned to the shop to start drawing up the cabinets. That complete, he quoted us a completed price of $8600.00. This was the week before Thanksgiving in 2011. He called and said if we would allow them to work evenings and weekends they could complete the job before Thanksgiving. Tony came out personally, with a helper to perform the work. They started tearing everything out so they could do the replacement. That lasted 3 days. He then asked for $6000.00 to pay for all the materials and shop costs, which I paid. He promised a receipt over and over, and I have never gotten it yet. There was one excuse after another about why they could not come out to do the work. When Christmas arrived, he asked for another $2000.00 and promised to bring me the receipts and warranty the next visit. Then he called and told me he had been fired because of a false claim by one of the customers, but he would finish the job. He said that since he lost his job he needed a "couple of hundred dollars" to keep going, which I gave him. He never came back! Finally on the first of February, 2012, we called the owner of Carolina Designer Cabinets, Chris Welch. He told us he had been waiting for us to call. Why? He should have contacted us. At any rate, he did come out to our home and apologized for everything that had been done to our kitchen. It was, and still is, a mess. He made all kinds of promises about fixing all that he could fix, including replacing almost all the doors because not one of them is flat, and they are three different kinds of doors. He told us that he would make sure everything was to our satisfaction. That was the only time we ever saw him. We have called repeatedly, and he is always "busy". He has not returned any of my calls. It is now almost August. We have spent $8200.00 that we saved a long time just to do the kitchen, and all we have to show is a mess.If you are wise you will not let Chris Welch or Carolina Designer Cabinets anywhere near your home. He also builds houses, so beware. In my opinion he lies and cheats, and doesn't mind doing either.

Response from CAROLINA DESIGNER CABINETS
(Member name removed) did contact our company to get an estimate for the work he wanted done in his kitchen. He was given our price by Tony which was more than they could afford. (Member name removed) and Tony then agreed that they would bypass the company and that Tony would do the work on the side for a cheaper price. (Member name removed) knew that Tony was doing the work on the side because he admitted that to me when he called and asked if I could help him finish the job that Tony started. By this time Tony had been fired for over month- a fact that (Member name removed) knew and still paid him more money-proving that (member name removed) knew that he did not hire Carolina Designer Cabinets to do his work. I did go out and look at the job and it was a mess- I couldn't believe that (member name removed) had paid Tony anything for the sloppy work that he had done. I felt really bad for (member name removed) but at this point there wasn't much I could do. I advised (member name removed) that he should take Tony to court and try to get some of his money back. (Member name removed) said that he had paid Tony in all cash and had not asked for a receipt on any of it. I offered to make (member name removed) four doors that had been made the wrong style by Tony but told him that it would be atleast a month before I could do so because our schedule was so backed up and that since I was doing them for free that I could not put his doors ahead of paying jobs. A few weeks went by and I received a phone call from the (member name removed) in which they had a very nasty attitude towards me and told me that I needed drop everything I was doing and make his doors NOW! After this conversation I realized that the (member name removed) were not the nice sweet couple that I had thought they were and told them that I was no longer willing to help them and that they needed to pursue Tony own their own. If you go to Walmart to buy a tv but cannot afford their price but some guy offers to sell you one out of the back of the store for less, do you call Walmart and complain when that TV does not work like you wanted it to? Angie's list contacted us when (member name removed) made this ridiculous accusation and we and our attorney contacted them with the overwhelming facts that we have that show that Carolina Designer Cabinets was not hired for this job. Angie's List personnel basically said they were not concerned with any factual evidence but only with the fact that someone who pays them money and subscribes to them can put whateverer they want to on this site. It goes to show that this web site is a joke and that it can be used for the exact opposite reason that it claims to be used for. If you are reading this remember that there are good honest people who are trying to make a living working hard and that there are also people like the(member name removed) who just want something for nothing. There are truly two sides to every story and Angie's List does not care about which one is true.
