Be careful hiring B&E Heating and Cooling: The technician from B&E came over on time. After assessing the problem he said that it was the gas valve and he quoted the repair to cost $603.00 for labor and materials, I thought the cost was too high given that I had had the same repair done for less that half (about $275.00 by another someone else) nonetheless I approve the repairs. The technician then proceeded to replace the gas valve. After attempting to replace the valve, he told my wife that he couldn't replace it because according to him the valve was shooting flames. He told my wife that by law he had to shut off the gas to the unit and then he told my wife that we needed a new unit which he quoted for $5,800.00 labor and materials. I didn't approve the replacement because I needed to figure out what we were going to do. He ended up charging my wife $75.00 for the service call and left the new valve in the unit and told my wife that he would get the valve back when he return to replace the unit. Since I didn't feel comfortable with what he did, I called the technician who had replaced the valve before and asked him how much it would cost to install a new unit of the same size quoted by B and E and told me that it would cost $5,000.00 which was $800.00 less than B&E. I also asked him if what the technician from B&E had said about the valve shooting flames was accurate and told me that that was not true or accurate, he also told me that the cost of the gas valve was about $150.00. So the technician from B&E was trying to charge about $528.00 for the valve plus $75.00 for the labor. So in all, it seems to me that B&E engages in scare tactics just to get more money out of costumers who don't know much about heating and cooling repairs or installation and especially women, inflates prices, and overcharges costumers in times of need. I will not call or use B&E ever again.

The installation was done quickly, professionally, and at a good price. I am very pleased with the unit they installed and the service they performed. They will get my business from now on.
