Everything was perfect, we didn't have to get permits or find a painter to seal the wood. Tom and company took care of everything.

My home is close to the ocean and its siding was starting to deteriorate. Once again, we called Tom and Mitch to help solve our problem. We decided that the most cost effective and best way to go was to use vinyl siding. Although not fans of vinyl, at our age, we did not want the maintenance of painting and cleaning our old siding which was about 12 different shades due to touch ups and fading. "Vinyl is final" they say. Tom helped us pick out a siding that looked almost exactly what was on our home, in the same color. This is important due to HOAs that sometimes don't like any changes. It is called Charleston Bead and is made by Certainteed. This is a very high quality product with features not available in other siding. After everything was measured out, Tom presented a quote and we looked it over and came to an agreement. I will say this....Tom and Mitch Metzel are NOT the cheapest guys in town. If you are looking for a low ball job, don't bother calling these guys. So we sign the contract, material is ordered and, as usual, Tom and Mitch are at my door at 7AM before I even had my coffee on the day they promised work would start. Work begins. Tom has a sub-contractor that actually does the siding. Knowing the quality of work insisted on by Tom, I have no worries. They work until 7 PM...dumpster on site and even a porta-pottie so they won't disturb us. The next day, the crew is again on site at 7AM. By the end of the day, they are finished. It looks great, heck...it looks better than great. I note how carefully the work was done around the dormers. Out standing! The house gleams with the newness of yellow siding a white trim! An honest to goodness South Kakalaky beach cottage! The Metzels have done three big jobs for us in the last three years....all new windows and exterior doors, remodel bathrooms, and now this siding job. Why do we keep going back??? Because we get what we pay for and MORE! If you want to know what kind of job they will do for you, just have them show you the inside of their big work trailer. All tools put away. No loose nails or screws to find their way into your tires sometime down the road. The darn thing looks like an operating room. Spotlessly clean and everything in its place. I hate these kind of people for being so organized, I am still unpacking after moving here 6 years ago. Here are the advantages of Metzel Home Improvement: They do not treat you like and idiot and they tell you why they are going to do something and then they do it exactly as they said. They show up on time, ready to go, which seems to be a BIG problem in coastal SC. They are nice guys and you can chat it up with them if you want while they are working. In fact, Tom is a chatterbox. My home is a better place to live since I hired Tom and Mitch, now for the third time. You want extremely high quality work with a company that will make sure everything is perfect? Get on the phone and call these guys. Do it now, because they are booked solid and there is a reason for that.

Mr. Metzel was wonderful to work with. Prompt, professional, immaculate attention to detail. We had siding done on the whole house, new porch decking on two porches, new screening and enclosure on the back porch, a new deck built in back, and a full bathroom remodel. In short, a lot of work. We were always apprised of scheduling, and if anything came up that we needed to address. Tom and his crew were here when they said, answered questions about the process, and always cleaned up. They were fast and efficient with all the work. The work is amazing! The house looks brand new. The master bath has us considering doing the guest bath next. The compliments just keep coming. If you need quality work, I highly recommend Metzel Home Improvements.

Having Metzel Home Improvements remodel a bathroom, we decided to call them to get our leaky old windows and doors replaced. We ordered the best Simonton windows and doors. The windows and doors were installed in two days exactly as contracted. All trim work and calking was done to perfection. The workers (Tom Metzel and his son) come on time and had the job completed in two days with a minimum disruption to our life. It is a pleasure to deal with a company that does such qulity work. They take no short cuts and make sure everything is perfect before they leave. They clean up the job site and you would never even know they were here. We highly recommend them.

Tom and his son were on the job when they said they would. Very friendly and professional. Explained what they were doing every step of the way. Work was excellent. I would highly recommend this contractor. I am getting an estimate for other projects. My husband and I have renovated quite a few houses so we are no strangers in dealing with contractors and I can honestly say that Tom Metzel is the best contractor, by far, that I have ever worked with.

Although they did not have the best price, we felt very comfortable using them because they explained how they would do everything. They took out the entire old bathroom, garden tub, shower, vanity and everything else and installed a new huge tile shower, closet vanity, toilet and everything else plus upgraded some plumbing under the house that was so slopily done by the original builder. It turned out to be fantastic! The father and son team use no undocumented workers and were on the job each day at 8:00AM. Their attention to detail was supurb. Could not be more pleased.

They were extremely polite, professional and caring, and, since the job only took a few minutes only charged me half their normal call fee. I am thrilled that the door is once again opening and closing properly and I am now able to take a shower. I mentioned that my husband and I plan to remodel this same bathroom and I would be sure to call them first which I definitely will do.

Very professional job.After slab was poured project was completed in a little over 6 days.Tom & Mitch know what they are doing & I would not hesitate to use them the future. They are well versed in many aspects of construction.

After interviewing 6 companies, we decided to go with Metzel Home Improvement. We chose the correct company! I have an elderly aunt that lives in my condo, they were so good to her. They were very considerate and cleaned up great! They did such an excellent job and used great materials. We would use them again in the future for anything.

Removed screened in porch, ordered materials, framed walls, insulated walls, sheetrock, removed ceiling fan, relocated electrical outlets, put ceramic tiles on floor, gout floor tiles, installed new doors, added pet door on existing door, installed entry locks, replaced moldings, fix water connections under kitchen sink.

They built the patio cover onsite, their craftsmanship was superb, were quite professional, and arrived at the time and date specified. I am extremely pleased with the job and would definitely recommend them to anyone needing remodeling work. I believe they can build anything anyone would want!

Tom and Mitch Metzel came on time and were very professional, helping me with suggestions for the best windows, door etc. The price seemed fair so i gave them a deposit. They kept me informed at every step of the way ( I was out of town). When my wife and I got back and saw what they had done we were very pleased, very good job. The windows and door were of very good quality and the workmanship was also first class. We are very pleased with every thing about the job. I would recommend them to anyone.

closhe shower to The job is not finished yet but I wanted to write a review anyway. First, this is a father-son company and they are true professionals. The frst thing I noticed about them is how neat and organized all their equipment is in their trailer. They are punctual and always inform me of what is to be done that particular day. They are respectful of my home. They put down heavy paper on the hardwood floors and drop cloths on the carpets to keep my home neat and clean. They use only top line materials like heavy duty rubber filament under the cement board to prevent water seepage. They angle everything in the shower to insure proper water run off to the drain. My idea of what I wanted done was complemented by them and they suggested a few changes that would make to remodeling even better, things that I would have never thought of. They also use safety equipment like ear plugs and dust masks and eye protection while working. They assured me that they do not use any illegal labor, something that is a big problem here where I live as it takes work away from legal residents and workers. They also assured me that the cost estimate is written in stone and that there will be not cost over runs unless I order changes or additional work. Their estimate was not the lowest I received but it was certainly close to the others and within my budgeted amount. I am extremely pleased with their work so far and I would nit hesitate to recommend them to anyone who wants quality work at a reasonable price. I sure wish the folks that built my house were so careful and diligent!

Metzel Home Improvement removed an old railing for us and replaced it. They installed a wood railing as well as a railing for the stairs. It took a while for them to return my initial call. However, once they did, and they agreed to bid and then do the work, they were fantastic. They went out of their way to accommodate an urgent need we had to get the work done. They came when they said they would and did quality work! We would definitely use them again!

They showed up on time and went right to work. They did an excellent job in just two days.

I trust him. He's a reliable and great person. He's also nice to talk to. We would never use anyone aside from Tom.

They did a very good job. They did terrific work and I didn't have any problems at all. They were just great. It is a father and son business. They are going to do a smaller bathroom in a couple of weeks. I recommended them to a friend. I'm in love with my bathroom and whoever uses them will not be disappointed. I called several and I was most impressed with them.

Tom and his son Mitch showed up on Wednesday on time and got right to work. They work all day Wednesday and half the day Thursday to complete the job. They cleaned up each day before they left and at the completion of the job. I am very pleased with the way it turned out and have had many positive comments on the quality of work done.
