FOUR SEASONS NURSERY & LN

This contractor was responsible for the installation of the lawn, irrigation system and all shrubbery for a new home.. As the homeowner, I was extremely specific in what i wanted. At our initial meeting, the Four Seasons nursery owner, Matt Klein, didn't listen, talked over me, and was extremely harried. specific problems: - Raised bed in my front yard... He missed the specified finished height by more than 50%. - Grass type ... I wanted a very specific type. He installed a different type without first discussing it with either myself or the general contractor.. Within days of installation, Matt Klein was made aware of the wrong grass type. His response was one of indifference and told me that what i requested wasn't available so, he installed something different.. He refused to correct the problem. Told me, the specific type i wanted was no different than the other types. This is obvously incorrect. As a result, I held back $500 from the total which, was the extra amount on the total, he initially said the grass i specified would cost. - Plant Quality ... Half the plants were very small, 25% of which died in the first 6 months. - He did not provide a good base for the lawn, nor did he install the sod properly. The result: weak grass with many large, deep, depressions and weeds. Large gaps between sod pieces... - Irrigation System ... He used undersize pipe and, as a result, the head pressure is weak and in some cases, there isn't enough pressure for the heads to raise.. This all means, incomplete lawn/shrubbery coverage. The initial overall installation was in the fall, I waited through the spring of the following year, 6-7 months later, before the GC and myself attempted to contact Klein to honor the year warrantee on the plants and problems with the overall lawn 'installation'... After weeks of calls with no response, Klein called me back. He told me that since I didn't pay the extra $500 for the llawn (i didn't order), that he had no intention of honoring the warrantee. I paid a lot of money to get: - What I did not order, Incorrect materials, shoddy installation and to have the warantee not honored. At all costs, I would stay away from this nursery.. You will nave nothing but problems...

We went to this nursery looking for perrenial flowers to plant in a bed. They had virtually nothing and showed little interest in helping us out. We finally asked the woman who "helped" us if maybe we were just too early for flowers but she never answered the question. We felt like we were intruding and were sorry we had stopped there. I would not bother with them again.

The lawn worked out fine. They could have done a much better job on the plants. They weren't equally spaced and in some instances (as they grew) they weren't effectively cascaded for appearance. The irrigation system was/is acceptable. However, the design / layout could have been much more effective if it allowed for being able irrigate the landscape beds independant of the lawn. The real problems occurred with the Gutter drainage system. It was poorly installed and contributed to additional (much more costly) problems. Then I had to go through multiple government agencies before Four Season agreed to correct the problem. And, they behaved quite badly (unprofessional / angry) when they arrived to correct the problem. I'd recommend staying away from Four Season Nursery. I learned that the cheapest price isn't always the cheapest price in the long run.
