Coastal Curbs

I hired Greg and company to install astroturf and garden curbing. He mismeasured the yard and did not order enough turf. They removed most of the grass and spread stone dust as a base, but then left for 10 days until they received another piece of turf that was also undersized. When they began turf installation, they did not smooth out the bumps in the yard, and they left cavities beneath the astroturf that are very noticeable. They tried to rush through the job, despite a high probability of rain. When they began to lay the concrete curbing, the rain destroyed the contours. They moved the unusable curbing away in wheelbarrows, but not before it flooded into my swimming pool with gobs of brownish grit that took days to clean. When they returned to complete the job, they laid the curbing incorrectly in one area, and used a patchwork of pieces where they had failed to bring a piece of adequate size. Nearly two months went by before they returned. They flattened most of the bumpy areas with a pounding tool and laid new turf where the patchwork had been. They also corrected the incorrectly installed curbing. However, the job was done hurriedly. As a result, there is a spot where the curbing doesn't cover the astroturf, some of the curbing is crumbling, and the cavities they "fixed" with sand are back after the first rain. Oh, and when they applied a single coat of sealant on the curbing (instead of 2 coats), they stained my patio pavers in multiple places. The quality of their work for me was poor, and their price was pretty high. I would not recommend their services to anyone.

Met Greg,the owner, at the Myrtle Beach Home Show. Greg came on time and measured and quoted us a price. We gave a deposit and they came on time for the installation. What Greg didn't quote for were the "extras", downspout drainage. This increased our job by $2500.00. We placed flags where all the sprinkler heads were so they could avoid them. They covered 3 of them. We called them and had to wait a week for someone to call us back. They were to come the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and no one came. I had to call them and they were surprised no one came. They told us someone would be by by the end of the week. They came and fixed them. Unfortunately it caused another problem with the sprinklers. We called again and no one called us back. We called a couple days later and Greg called us 2 days later. He was condensing on the phone. Telling us he had 47 years experience and that our sprinkler problem wasn't caused by him. He was loud and rude. When we tried to ask a question he yelled "let me finish speaking ". There is no way I would ever deal with or recommend Coastal Curbs to anyone!! I go to the home show twice a year and trust me I'll be letting people know to avoid them.

They were on time.... They did not measure for my new beds, did it free hand, which made my beds 3 inches narrow on one end, which I told them twice that it was wrong....didn't help and my bed along the house was not straight, crooked. Was told by lead worker that I would get to check the position of plants before planted, did not happen, they put them in very haphazardly, damaging my original plants with the stones we purchased from them. A few spots had very thin coverage with the stones, the workers were polite but liked to play, throwing the stones at each other. At first look, it seemed great, but found the problems I had mentioned after they left, my bad. Plus they charged me more for my shrubs then what I would of paid at the nursery, over 10%. Called to ask why, it supposedly is the tax....? Would I recommend this company, no!

They were on time, only good thing.....did not even measure flowerbeds for exact width, done free hand, no measuring. My new beds are off by 3 inches on one end, even though I brought it to their attention twice. New island flowerbed was not straight line with house. Workers damaged existing plants. Things looked nice at first, but with further and closer examination, weed block showing, thin areas of stones, left street dirty. Was told by head worker that I would get to see where plants will be put before planted, I was not, and my plants were not planted correctly. Workers played around, throwing stones at each other. Their curbing work is nice, will see how it holds up.

Neighbor recommendation. My tip is to talk to more neighbors.

Coastal Curbs did a horrible job of installing decorative curb and landscaping at my home. Within a few months of installation, the curb was crumbling and falling apart. The curbing material was poorly prepared without reinforcement components (half-inch polypropylene fibers) which would have prevented the hardened concrete from crumbling and cracking. We called the owner of the company, Mr. Opie, numerous times to address our concerns, however, he did not make any effort to meet us in person to resolve this issue. In addition, we had a palm tree die, and he refused to replace the dead tree under his warranty. I would avoid using this company for anything. The owner displayed a lack of professionalism and ethics and has now left us with landscaping which looks worse than before the work was completed.
