Servant Plumbing of Mt.Pleasant

We are in the midst of cleaning up our rental house (after the worst-ever renters), and we found a large area of mildew under the vinyl beside the bathtub. Servant Plumbing has been great in the past, professional, prompt, and friendly, so we called them again. Louie runs a top-notch business. Jay Stephens came out and diagnosed the problem. He went under the house and took pictures, so we could see exactly what was happening. We had a leak in the bathtub drain, which had rusted out the bottom of the old cast iron tub and caused sub-floor damage. He gave us a written estimate and set a date to do the work. He predicted it would take two days to complete. Yesterday, Jay showed up on time with everything he needed. He was just great - cannot say enough good things about this young man! He went out of his way to make us happy. He emptied everything out of the bathroom, including the sink and toilet; he explained that breaking up those old tubs can be messy, and he didn't want anything to fly off and break another fixture. I must add that Louie called last night, just to make sure everything was going as expected. So in taking up the vinyl, we got a good look at the sub floor, and it was apparent that the area around the toilet also needed replacing. Jay took excellent care of it. He added a new flange and is also going to return after the vinyl is installed to replace the toilet - with new wax ring (we don't need the toilet now, since the house is unoccupied). Cannot say enough good things about Jay. He is so nice and knowledgeable ... and completely helpful. He really has made a tough situation a little easier. As Louie said, no one could have been better qualified to deal with our sub-floor issues, and he could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Amazing level of service! We plan to always use Servant for our plumbing and will request Jay at every opportunity, and we want to award Jay the Angies Angel. Anyone would be in good hands with Servant Plumbing and especially with Jay.

Bought their coupon on Angie's List to receive $100 worth of service for $75; therefore, my total cost was reduced from $165 down to $140. As advertised, someone returned my call within 15 minutes -- which is almost unheard of these days! The repairman was prompt, neat, and professional. Very satisfied and have already recommended them to one of my neighbors : )

When I had my backflow preventer replaced (by a different company), they turned off my water at the street which in turn burned out the motor on my recirculating pump. Servant Plumbing responded to my phone call immediately and came to my house within a few days (this wasn't an emergency). I was headed out of town, so Josh ordered the necessary parts and they were waiting when I returned from my trip. He came over the next day and installed the new pump. All in all a great experience. Josh was very polite, pleasant, and trustworthy. I will definitely call them again ... although I hope I don't have to!

(8/5 original post) We had a leaky garbage disposal underneath the kitchen sink. I signed up for Angie's list in order to find a good plumber. This company had good reviews. So we gave them a call, and asked them to come take a look at our disposal underneath our kitchen sink. The gentleman was very prompt, arriving shortly after we called. The whole job took about three hours. We have two kitchens sinks in the kitchen. Both of the disposals ended up needing to be replaced. The disposal underneath the sink in the island did not work properly at first. We ended up having to call an electrician to come out to see what was wrong. There was a reset button on an electric input, that was not near the kitchen sink, that had to be pressed. Tricky, but an extra call had to be made. It's unfortunate as it was probably an uncommon thing to happen, but it was part of the overall experience. The final bill was $1,495. There was no break out for the parts and labor, so I decided to go onto the Internet and find out how much the parts cost. One very nice garbage disposal cost a little bit over $300, and the other garbage disposal cost just under $100. Both of those were prices from Amazon.com, where we could've ordered the parts ourselves. Even if the company had to pay a little bit more for those parts, it looks like we ended up paying about $1000 for a three hour service call that included installing two new garbage disposals. That's a bit excessive. The service was good, as was the quality of work, at least for the first day. And the service was prompt. But the overall bill was very high. I would only use this provider again if they broke out the cost for the parts and the labor clearly before starting the work. ( 8/11 Update): We got a call yesterday after this review was read online. They are going to refund $200. I just read the company response. I think there's a middle ground here. A couple of notes: -The call was placed about 8:30-9:30 on a Tuesday morning. We were hoping to find a company to come out within the next day or so. We asked if they could come out within the next 24 hours. Had they said no, we would have called another company. But they said yes. -The prices that were found on Amazon are without a mark-up, which can be expected from a company for having them readily available and the expertise to recommend the products. It was probably unfair to list those prices in the original review without a mark-up. A 25%-50% markup would put the parts cost around $500-$600. - If you ask the Internet how much hourly plumbing rates are, you get mixed responses. There are other places that gives estimates, too. http://home.costhelper.com/plumbers.html, http://www.homeadvisor.com/cost/plumbing/hire-a-plumber/. And there are more, but those are some of the first links from a quick google search. -The original cost was $1,495. If we account for a 50% markup on the price of the products, that leaves an hourly charge of $298.33/hour for labor. Even for an "emergency," that is a high cost. Now, the company did call back and offer $200 back, which puts the hourly rate at $231.66/hour, which is more reasonable, especially with having to leave the house to pick up the more expensive disposal. -Had the service man got the price correct the first time, the review would have been positive. -The company did call back, which shows they care. -We would use this company again as the quality of work seems to be good, and we're very happy with the high quality disposal.

The gentleman who came out to fix my back uped pipes was so nice, he told me what needed done, showed me the problem and did the work quickly. The line between the house and the sewer was filled with roots so he cleaned it out. But to do that he had to redo the outlet the last plumber had put in, it was too far down to be able to open it. He replaced it with one up to ground level so it could be opened if we needed to do it again. The cost would have been alot less if he hadn't had to do the extra work to fix what someone else had done incorrectly. Would definately call them again with any plumbing problems. Barb

Charles of Servant Plumbing arrived within the agreed upon 2 hour appointment window (calling about 30 minutes ahead to let me know he was on his way). I had made the appointment because my kitchen faucet was leaking (it has a removable sprayer and my little granddaughter likes to play with it; I thought she had somehow stressed it). Within seconds, Charles determined that it just needed to be screwed together more tightly. I thought we were done! He then looked under the counter, though, and discovered that my garbage disposal had apparently been leaking for a few days, which I did not realize. I did know that the previous owner of my house had put in a new garbage disposal in 2010 and that it had not been properly installed (according to the home inspection I had done before I bought the house in 2012); apparently, the "issues" with this improper installation had built up to the point that the seals had blown - I could see the water seeping out myself as I crouched down to look. Charles immediately went out and obtained a new disposal unit and returned to install it, even though that meant he didn't leave my house until about 7:30 pm. And, as an additional service at no extra cost, he installed a fill valve in my toilet and vacuumed out dirt which had accumulated in the tank. I was dazed by the unexpected large expenditure required (I was expecting less than $100 would be needed to fix a faucet), but pleased with the speediness and professionalism of the work...as well as with Charles's helpful and cheerful disposition.

I have used them three or four times because the first times they came out they thought they had fixed the problem and the final time they believed the fixed it but I am not 100% sure they did. The individual that came out for the final visit went really well, extremely professional, very straight forward with what needed to be done, had a good recommendation for the drywall repairment. They left it clean and even came back after the dry wall guy had finished and they didn't charge me.

This man who came to do the work was an employee with Servant Plumbing his name was Charles Miller. He came out on a Friday before July 4th and checked out our problem. He was going to try to come back quicker to fix it, but he had other services to perform. He came on a Friday and he did the work on the following Wednesday. He explained what he would do and he did it. He was punctual, courteous and did a good job. My husband and I were very pleased with everything that he did in fixing our problem. BUT MOST OF ALL HE IS A CHRISTAIN AND THIS COMPANY IS ALSO A CHRISTAIN COMPANY. We need more business people that have these Christian values and principles.

He was friendly punctual and very knowledgable in his field. I will be calling him in the future for more work to do.

Without even making a accurate diagnosis, plumber insisted tankless water heater be replaced for $3,000. I told him no way.

The time element was very important to me. I needed this work done in 3 days max. And of course quality and professionalism is always very important. Jay gave me his word that the work would be done in that time frame and it was. Not only did he deliver the finished product in 3 days, but the quality and professionalism were both stellar. In addition, Jay would always return calls immediately. I would highly recommend.

Josh recommended that I purchase a kitchen faucet before he arrived in the event that he was unable to fix the leak on the current faucet. This would save me the charge for a second service call and I could return the unused faucet to the retailer. Great advice. My house is 15 years old and I decided to replace the faucet anyway. Josh finished quickly and left the work area in spotless condition. Servant Plumbing always responds promptly to requests via phone or text. Love dealing with these guys.

They were on time, courteous and competent. They completed all repairs and other work in under 2 hours. Very professional people. Only issue is costs of repairs which I think were very high for the amount of time they were here. Yes, I would recommend them with reservations about the cost factor. Good company and good people-

Josh showed up on time and performed the services quickly. He was honest about a valve not even needing to be repaired. He fixed a shower faucet in about 10 minutes and did not overcharge me. Would trust them and use them again. Highly recommend.

They were here on time. They were pleasant. They cleaned up after themselves and they explained what they were doing. They explained options too, since the job required more work that we wanted them to do.

I have contacted Louie several times, for an estimate, for a drain line issue, and for consultation. On each and every occasion Louie has responded or called back within 15 minutes of my call. He's very informative, very professional, and very punctual. I will be using Servant Plumbing in the future. Can't go wrong with these guys!

Received a frantic call from my new tenants saying that the water was backing up in the tub, washing machine and, of course, the toilets. Called Servant Plumbing and spoke with Josh. He had been the tech who repaired my other house in Ravenel, with a 12" crawlspace...yeah, he remembered me. They had re-plumbed that house, and then made a repair last year so there was no doubt who I would call. He arrived on time, and actually got the job done the same day thanks to a cancellation by another customer (poor folks, probably made a mistake in getting another company). Took the toilet out, sent down a camera, inspected the lines, freed the clog, and that was that. All done!

They were awful. It started with $175 and I ended up paying about $500. The water was running through the toilet downstairs and I asked him to a new valve on it. I tried to do it and I couldn’t. He said that he could do all the toilets in the house for me for $250. I told that the others weren’t broken. He said that they would be as that one was worn out. He did the others. One of them was broken when he finished it and it wasn’t broken before. Then to get it right, I had to pay extra. They didn’t stick to the original price. They weren’t terribly responsive because it was hard to get a person when we called. They used an answering service or something. They did come when they said they would. The one guy who came wasn’t professional at all.

I called about 9:00 pm the night before and noted that my hot water tank was running water at the bottom. They asked me if I needed them to come out immediately or if it could wait till morning. I told them that it could wait till morning and they said if there is any more water to call them back and they will come out immediately. They came out the next morning and determined that I needed a new water heater. They hauled it up 15 steps and replaced it for me. They are always so nice and very responsive. This was the first time I worked with Dave and he did a great job!

Service provided by Jay & Randall and arrived as advertised. Very professional and friendly. Kept me apprised of what he was doing at all times. Service time about 30 minutesand cleaned up after himself. Additionally, I had a leaking back flow valve for our yard sprinkler system and I asked if he could repair it and it will be done tomorrow. You can tell that he is totally dedicated to his job and to customer satisfaction.

I got tired of getting the Lowes and Home Depot replacement parts for the toilets and simply would not hold up for long. They were just junk. Servant Plumbing were the most professional, very neat, polite and skilled than any plumber I have used over the many years. The guys were great, the work was very neat and well done. I wish I has know about this company long before now. We are so impressed with them that I have let my rather large family know to use them. They are excellent. Richard Daniel Johns Island

Josh was always professional, punctual and responsive. Answered calls, texts and emails immediately. Explained everything, stayed within cost and time estimate. Plan on calling them back when I get to kitchen remodel. Highly recommend.

The only reason I didn't give a perfect score is that it took a few days and shuffling by Servant to finally get to my home. They had an emergency that bumped me from the schedule. But once they came the filter was fixed very rapidly and is working beautifully again. Strongly recommend this group - very efficient and professional.

I have not used the services yet, but these guys get an A in my book for being the most responsive, and for great follow up. Josh, Jay, and someone else whose name I have forgotten called, texted, and even came out on Saturday. They offered to come several other days, but as a night worker they didn't work. I'm not sure what kind of work they will provide, but the care that they have taken in the customer service department is the absolute best. I had to call them and tell them. I'm hard to please, but love giving credit where credit is due. Thanks guys, I hope you read this and know who I am.
