McGrew's Flooring

It didn't go!! I have been trying for at least 6 MONTHS, since last spring, to get McGrews to work on this project. I first went in the store and talked to Katherine Knight and she said she would send her floor guy out. After my persistence, he did come out, twice in fact, to look at the damage. Both times he said "Katherine will call you". Katherine NEVER has called me. Finally, on Jan. 4, Shannon called me, apologized, and said my file had been lost. They had a cancellation the following Monday, Jan. 7. I had plans. I think they were just trying to find something to give this guy something to do for the day. Shannon PROMISED to call me Monday afternoon, January 7th and set up a time. As of today, Jan. 21, NO WORD FROM McGREWS. I WOULD NOT, I REPEAT, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE TOTALLY UNRELIABLE, ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO RETURN CALLS, AND LIE WHEN THEY SAY THEY WILL BE CONTACTING YOU. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO McGREWS. THEY USED TO BE THE "GO TO" PEOPLE FOR FLOOR/CARPET ISSUES. I AM SO VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THEM.

Quite well. The trim was initially the wrong color, but was corrected the following day.

It took a bit of wrangling to get this much larger box into the wall but the chore was done well, and everything seems to be operating properly. It was part one of a two-part job that will be completed later in the summer.

I needed to replace the floor in my bathroom. went to McGrew's, picked out the tile and paid a deposit for the material. My tenant let the installer in so I did not see the work till it was 99% complete only to find the wrong tile was installed. It wasn't what I selected but it wasn't terrible either. McGrew's offered to make it right and re-do the job but rather than inconvenience my tenant further, I kept the installed tile. After some discussion, McGrew's took off $100 off the total bill.

Great. After changing our minds about hardwood flooring in these two rooms we finally settled on carpet. McGrews worked patiently with us throughout the whole thing (we had hardwood delivered twice and sent it back twice before settling on carpet) and followed through with a professional installation that met our expectations. We proudly definately recommend them.

Very pleased with the entire process. From getting a quote to scheduling to installation... Everything went perfectly! Very easy to communicate with from my original contact to many questions I had, to ordering and installing my new floors..

While in the store, the staff is excellent! They are very attentive and knowledgeable. However, once you leave the store, their communication skills leave much to be desired. It was next to impossible to get ahold of anyone to schedule the installation, to hear updates, and to fix the mistakes. To start with, they did not order the correct materials, but didn't realize that until they were loading the truck to install everything the following day. I was on a tight schedule and was anxious about them getting everything done in time as it was. They upgraded me, but it was not what I took so much time to select. I didn't receive any updates as it went along despite trying to get ahold of someone. The job took longer than projected. After they finished, I discover parts of the job left undone including laminate that was cut incorrectly, stickers left on, and doors left off the hinges. When they returned to fix their mistakes (that crew arrived promptly!), they found they still did not have enough molding. After not hearing from them in weeks, I inquired yet again about the missing molding. They hadn't even ordered it! I had to badger them again before they found some, and sent someone to install it. They installed it quickly, but it was cut crooked. I am relieved the job is finished, but disappointed in the lack of communication and quality of work on the laminate. To be fair, the planks look lovely aside from one that has a weird hole in it from being cut incorrectly. They didn't replace it, just covered the hole with molding. The carpet is beautiful! They did a wonderful job on it (aside from the issue with ordering). I would use them again (for carpet), but probably not again for any flooring that requires small detail work.

They charged a pick up fee but were worth it. They arrived on time without a 2-3 hour window to wait for them to arrive. They were very professional in moving furniture and removing the rug to be cleaned. Then, in cleaning, they removed all the traffic dirt and returned it immaculately cleaned. Thanks Guys!

We received estimates from numerous flooring providers and selected McGrews. All of the support staff were friendly and accommodating to our requests for samples and pricing. Roy McGrew came to my house and took all the measurements for the installation. The carpet crew showed up promptly and worked very well together to complete the upstairs and downstairs areas in one day. They were very neat and the workmanship is outstanding. The are no seams showing. A separate crew installed the hardwood flooring. Their work was also very good and they were very neat. There was a minor issue but it was resolved promptly to my satisfaction. Highly recommend McGrew's Flooring

Very responsive in setting up measurement and working with us to find the best carpet for our application. Carpet was good quality at a fair price. Met us after hours to finalize order. Installation on schedule and well performed. They took extra time to work with us to fix squeaks in the floor. Positive experience...

Because my kitchen fllor was a little unlevel, I decided to use sheet vinyl insteaad of more popular ceramic tile. Even though I opted for the vinyl sheeting, Roy McGrew came out and performed some leveling of the floor before his arrived to peform the installation. The crew did a very good job and were very careful in moving all appliances and reinstalling them. After a month or so after the installation, I noticed that there was a bubble under one small area in the kitchen. Roy came out and injected some adhesive and corrected the problem.

I had a little problem at first because they didn't lay the vinyl down correctly but he made it right. He has since passes away, that's what I've heard. I didn't see his obituary but a couple of people told me that. They put it down once which wasn't right and had to be redone. The cost included labor and the vinyl itself for three rooms. It actually was for a very large kitchen but it included the laundry room and the breakfast room. After the floor was put down it had lumps, bumps and pits in it and what happened was there should have been something put down underneath first. The fellows that did it told they weren't told to do it and then when I talked to Mr. McGrew he said they should have called him because they thought it was a different kind of floor underneath. Anyhow it all had to be done again so the whole process really took about five weeks and it was time consuming. Otherwise it turned out very nice and there were still couple of problems and Mr. McGrew came out himself and took care of it. It was just around the registers they hadn't laid it right and they hadn't put my door back on the laundry room. He told me he would make it right and he absolutely did. He was actually a very nice man and I was sorry to hear. I've just no time to call the business to make sure because there is also a McGrew's that does cleaning carpets and so forth, it's the same family but different business and I'm not sure which one it was. Mr. McGrew was elderly. He made it all right for me. When we were in another home we got carpets from them and they were very good about that too. It needed stretched after about a year and he said since it's only been a year; they re-stretched it for me for nothing. That was several years ago, we are in a different house now. I think the price was pretty much in line with everybody else. As a matter of fact they were usually early. The fellows that work sometimes they come and say they couldn't do something but Mr. McGrew said they could. It was just two fellows and they were okay guys.

I bought the vinyl elsewhere because one of the rooms was a bathroom, so I could use a remnant. For the other room, I could have ordered from McGrews, but at the time, I thought it would take too long. In the future I know, they can get vinyl in just a few days. They were so helpful and flexible, they really helped me out in a pinch. Dave and his partner did the installation, and they could not have been better. Dave is meticulous, using all the best techniques. He truly cares about the outcome and takes pride in his work. He cleaned up perfectly. In addition, he is a nice guy, friendly and easy going. I will use McGrews again and will request Dave do the installation. Highly recommend them both.

The installation was okay, but it was the actual sales between myself and McGrew, that left me very unhappy. They did not measure the ceramic tile properly, so they had to stop installation and order more while working on the larger bathroom. Both toilets were out of service, although they had assured me that I would have at least one working toilet in the house at all times. I had to stay in constant contact with them, as they were unwilling to communicate with me. It was a real hassle, I would stay in all day and never hear from them once. I would also never use the laminate tile again. Since it s been installed, I have had several problems. There was a knick in it, which I noticed when the project was completed. I called and they came out to fix it, but it took a long time to get the problem resolved. There are also places where the tile is not level, and some sections are starting to pop up. Their customer service is absolutely unsatisfactory. The installation went smoothly, and the installers were always on time, but communication with the office was entirely lacking.
