They had good communications and did a good job with following my instructions for some tree trimming. They were very clean in terms of cleaning up after themselves. Their price was a little high.

It was really good. They did a great job. The quality of the work and their professionalism was great. They understood their job, and cleaned it up after the removal and there was no evidence that the tree was over there.

Our experience with Charleston Stump Stompers was fantastic! They provided an emailed estimate immediately, showed up slightly earlier than planned (which was GREAT!), and performed two other projects we hadn't asked for previously (quoted on the spot). The foreman was extremely knowledgeable of trees and shrubery, and how we should care for them. The price was very reasonable, and the staff was professional and friendly. The icing on the cake was the clean-up -- they left our yard and porch in better shape than when they got there! A+++

DO NOT USE! Rude, offensive, and very unprofessional. I used Charleston Stump Busters for an estimate on a house that I am purchasing. I have to give a little back-story. The house was an ?as-is? property with no chance of using ANY estimates to get the price even a dollar lower than we already had it. He called at 8am to do the estimate, but I couldn?t meet him last minute with an infant (she gets up when she wants and doesn?t do well if forced). He did the estimate without me and called to give his findings. For two roughly 40? oaks, he gave an estimate of $5600. He asked how that compared and I told him he was much higher than other estimates ($3000 higher), but I would still like to have a written e-mail to possibly contact him about the work anyway as I was not sure what the other estimates included. I explained that the company I had already spoken with was probably not the most reputable or ?safe? company to use. It was like a switch from adult to angry child got tripped. He got immediately mad and started yelling in to the phone that he was ?not going to play that game? and I could have his estimate for $100. I tried to explain again that the company I had the estimate for probably didn?t have insurance or the right abilities to get the job done correctly. He then said ?what-ever? and that he wouldn?t give me the estimate to use as a negotiating tool. I then realized there is NO reason I should be trying to back track and that he was in the wrong. I am sure they do great work, but the owner Chris Nichols is a true jerk and turns in to a baby having a fit if you tell him he is over priced. The other estimate may be too low or not include a lot of stuff or the company may be crappy, but I will certainly NEVER use or recommend Charleston Stump Busters. He can keep his estimate. I am glad to use Angie's and that companies are being held accountable for their actions.

Our experience with Charleston Stump Stompers was superb! They provided a very reasonable estimate about a month prior to the actual work being done. (A combination of our schedules caused the brief delay in doing the work.) This was the lowest of 3 estimates that we received for same job. Cost was not the only factor in our decision to use them; their estimation and follow-up process was very timely and professional. On the day of service, the crew was on-time, professional, courteous, and quick. They were very experienced and worked well as a team. The crew cleaned up as they worked and all debris/limbs were removed. The company supplied adequate resources (both labor & equipment) to complete the large job in 4 hours. We have worked with quite a few contractors over the years and these guys are top notch! We will call them again when it is time for additional tree maintenance. Thanks, Charleston Stump Stompers!

Pleasant, helpful phone/desk manager. Worked with me to get company out in timely fashion for estimate. Able to get the work done in a very reasonable time frame. Explained all steps of the process, including permitting. Workers showed up exactly when I was told. Very polite. Worked fast and cleaned up after themselves. Worked nicely with neighbors. This was a great experience. I plan to used them again.

I could not be more pleased with the work that Charleston Stump Stompers did. They called the day before, arrived on time, completed the work in a professional and timely manner. I would recommend them to anyone that needs to have a tree removed from their property.

I couldn't have scripted a better experience! They were on-time, professional, courteous, and quick. Their quote was the lowest, but we were more concerned about schedule. They were able to remove 9 (yes... 9!!!) trees in one day vs. the next lowest bid which expected to take 5 days. One of the trees was an enormous Red Oak that was tearing up our driveway and sidewalk and was threatening to cause harm to our house (it was a few feet away and leaning). They removed it so effectively that you can't tell that a tree ever existed there. I've worked with quite a few contractors over the years and these guys are top notch! I will call them again when it's time to address those huge pine trees and water oaks in the backyard! Thanks, Stump Stompers!

I had a dead tree in my back yard and it had a limb that fell off into my yard. When I called Charleston Stump Stompers, I was given the ability to choose the week in which I could receive the the service. I was given the exact information as to what will happen in the process. Chris Nicholas asked me what I needed and was able to provide me with an option that allowed me to replant a tree in the area in which they were going to remove the dead tree. I was out of town when they provided the service but when I came home the next day, they had done a fantastic job and they left no clue that they were ever in my yard. The only difference is that the dead tree was gone. This company kept me informed, met their promises, and gave me the results that were more than my expectations. I would proudly endorse this company to anyone.

Dennis came by to give a quote in early January - their quote was the least expensive. When the scheduled day came, Dennis and crew were punctual and efficient. We were very pleased with their work and will be calling them again soon to take care of our palms.

I have used them twice. Their cleanup was very good. The price was good. They were the least expensive. I was satisfied.

I used another company because of price. The other company was not the low bid, but had recently did work for my best friend and he was completely satisified. I was also completely satisified. Will call Charleston Stomp Stompers to bid on future work.

This company was prompt, and the second I went out to the yard they were already done, and I had received a quote. They were very quick easy, and professional.

Chris Nicholas is a very professional individual, and his crew are very conscientious, hard-working employees. They had to remove three sections of fencing to do the work, and put it back up so well that one would never know it had been touched. The whole crew took the utmost care with my property and left everything in great shape. While the cost was a bit high, their estimate was lower than two others I obtained. Given the professionalism of this company and the quality of the work performed, I would definitely recommend them.

I got quotes from five different companies and Stump Stompers was the high bid. I got a card from them later that said they would drop their estimate but it was still above the next highest bid. The representative from the company was extremely professional, responsive, and polite. He came one time, described his work, and explained everything.

Chris, the owner, and his wife Jayne came to do the estimate and they were very attentive and pleasant to talk to. They made sure to assess underlying issues and take note of them during the estimate (we have lots of utility lines in our front yard, where one of the trees was located). Since the work requested was a small job, and there were weather issues, the work did not take place for a few weeks. The work ended up being done on a Sunday morning; Chris had contacted us the previous Friday to make sure that would work for us. Chris and his job supervisor came by early Sunday morning to review the work and make sure requirements and concerns were discussed. When the crew arrived, they were very efficient and professional; they made short work of both trees and the clean-up involved. They even got some extra business from a neighbor who needed a small tree removed - when he saw the crew he came over to ask them about what he needed.

Wonderful. We met and discussed the effect wanted. They did detailed work. All of it was done without any mess or concer.

The "trash tree" that they removed was actually growing in my neighbor's yard, but had intertwined into the chain-link fence and was protruding into my yard. I am planning to install a privacy fence, and this tree was in the way. After getting the agreement from my neighbors, Chris and Jayne agreed to do the job. They warned me that they would have to cut the fence in order to properly remove the tree. They only removed the bare minimum necessary to access the tree, and they connected it back together using bale wire so that it remains effective as a fence until I get my privacy fence installed. Chris and Jayne also made recommendations for maintaining two live oaks on my property - I feel that they are very knowledgeable and concerned about their customers' property. I will definitely call on them again for tree maintenance.

They showed up when promised. Trimmed several trees to improve not only their appearance but, also overall health. They removed two badly damaged trees and cleaned up after themselves. The team performed all of the services discussed and did it well. They removed my mailbox to prevent it from being damaged and forgot to replace it. I called Chris and the mailbox was back in place within the hour.

They were very professional and underbid the competition by a significant amount. They communicated well and completed the job quickly.

We needed several oaks on our property pruned and thinned. Chris Nicholas (the owner) came to our house and did a thorough walk-through the day after I initially contacted him. He listened carefully to what we wanted to have done and suggested other items to address. He gave us a quote that was on par with others that we received. His professionalism however, is what persuaded us to use his services. He was prompt, courteous, and easy to talk to. The day before the scheduled job, Chris called to confirm his team's arrival time. The next morning, right on time, they arrived on the scene. They showed up with two bucket trucks, a huge chipper, and various other tools of the trade. Chris introduced me to several members of his crew then got right to work instructing them exactly what was to be cut. Unfortunately, I had to leave for work and didn't get to witness all the climbing and cutting. My wife said it was quite a thing to see. When I arrived home and saw the finished product I was quite impressed. The trees had been pruned exactly as we had discussed. The only evidence that anyone had been in our yard was a bit of sawdust where Chris's crew removed a 3 foot diameter limb (another tree really) that was growing from the base of our largest oak. It is amazing how much more open and clean our oaks now look. Interesting note: during the work one of our large terracotta flower pots was broken. While the crew were cleaning up, one of the men went out and replaced it with a brand new one. That's good business.

I called for estimate. Mr. Nicholas returned call within the hour. We made appointment to meet at my house and he could do this after my work which was after 5:00 p.m. I discussed need for more light filtration as lawn was not getting enough sunlight due to trees. He requested we walk through property and he discussed each tree and what could be done. He described what effect this would have and what street appeal/view would be. He was very professional, listened to my inquiries and made suggestions for future growth and maint. He explained exactly what limbs he was going to cut and why. He explained removal of trees and what effects it would have afterwards. I was very impressed. I waited for 2 other estimates and Mr. Nicholas had the best plan, estimates were similar. We agreed of date to perform. He called the day before to remind and pending visit and again went over plan which he had written out. His team came in, performed the work flawlessly and as he described. His men were professional, knew what they were doing and left not a twig on the ground. These were not immigrant workers and Mr. Nicholas has had these men for a while as evidenced by thier pride and workmanship. Mr. Nicholas called me after I had a day to review work and we settled the financial aspect. He even came over to collect.
