The sales person and installers for Alder were professional and knowledgeable. They followed through as promised and were responsive to questions in a timely fashion. The estimate of power production they provided has been accurate so far and the system has been trouble free. All in all a very positive experience.

Having construction experience in my past, I was looking for a contractor that would deliver quality materials and professional work. Because of time constraints to perform the work before year end. the schedule was extremely critical. Alder Energy impressed me in their can-do spirit and they met and exceeded my expectations. Since then, there has been some follow up needed with the equipment suppliers and they have responded beyond the call of duty and continue to monitor the situation to insure that the system is at peak operating performance. I highly recommend this team for their professionalism and their personal relationship capacity. Great Job.

John Griswold and an electrician came out to our home and reviewed the potential for installing a system. THe electrician seemed to ask really important questions and was thorough in his survey. We were later contacted by John Griswold, and he sent an estimate via email, where most of the pages were a data analysis on estimating a return on investment (ROI). Oddly, very little of the information was about the system and what you were actually getting. John Griswold did a ROI analysis based on our energy bill that was actually done wrong, and it appeared as though he was maximizing the amount of money they could charge for the system, rather than doing an estimate based on materials, labor, reasonable profit, etc. We decided that it was not worth paying $54,000 for a system that appeared to generate only about 1/3 of the power we need (i.e. it would only cover 1/3 of the electric bill. John Griswold called about a month later to follow up on the decision on the system, and we wanted to clarify his analysis. He was rude on the phone, and instead of answering questions, he continually repeated that he was following the industry standard. He did not listen to our questions and he talked over us. Who would work with a company that wants to bully you into their prices and system? I found his tactics alarming in a business that truly needs to prosper if we are ever going to realize the full potential of solar energy. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

I was extremely impressed with Alder Energy Systems from beginning to end. I was in the market for a solar energy system for my home and remembered the company Blue Marble Solar from a green fair many years ago. I discovered that Blue Marble had merged with Alder Energy Systems a little bit ago so I completed the contact form on their website. The next day I got a call from Don Zimmerman, one of the owners who gave me a lot of really helpful information over the phone about their systems and the latest technology. They setup a consultation a few days later and when they arrived I was immediately impressed at how much preparation they'd done. They had already pulled up satellite photos of my home and sketched out a potential design, along with a lot of other useful information about how much electricity it would generate here in Mount Pleasant. They provided a detailed quote within a few days and the price seemed very competitive so I locked it in and they arranged a mutually agreeable installation date. They were great about staying in touch leading up to the install and giving me a lot of personal attention. Given that they do a wide range of projects I was initially a little concerned that since my system was on the smaller end I'd get put on the back burner as they worked on much larger commercial projects. But that wasn't the case at all. The installation took two and a half days. Scottie is the main installer and he is the nicest guy you'll ever meet. He's from New Zealand which just makes him that much cooler. He and Josh did an outstanding job with the installation (including working during a Heat Advisory). They are very detail-oriented, conscientious people who clearly care about the customer. Even after the install I was able to call Scottie about any questions and he kept me in the loop on when the town and SCE&G inspectors would be out. Something that really struck me about Alder Energy Systems is that it has a small but very knowledgeable staff. Sometimes when you talk to professionals it's rather frightening because you seem to know more than they do about something in their area of expertise. But that's absolutely not the case with Alder. They clearly have a lot of experience installing alternative energy systems in the Carolinas and know their trade forward and backward. I learned so much about the local solar energy industry through the process. Kudos to Alder Energy Systems. They deserve your business.
