84 LUMBER CO

On 7/14 the standard 'package' of wood and hardware for the screen porch was delivered. First mistake: Three items were missing including pickets for the stair railing. All the missing items were clearly listed on the order sheet. A call was made by the sunroom contractor and the items were delivered close to end of business. Second mistake: On 7/16 it was discovered that some wrong size boards had been included. Work was suspended waiting for them to arrive with the correct boards. The boards they sent were not as nice as the wrong ones. There was a big chunk out of one. The sunroom contractor assures me they can work with it so it's not visible. I would have made them exchange it but he said that no lumber supplier would care about the quality of the boards they deliver. It's a board, it's available, that's what they send. While their response to bring the missing items wasn't bad, considering they are 10 minutes away from the job site, the quality control at the warehouse could, in my opinion, use some serious improvement. This was my first experience with 84 Lumber and possibly my last. Any further work I have done, I will request that the contractor use a different supplier. According to the job site supervisor, this was the first time they had used this supplier. He, too, was not pleased with their performance.
