Ted Cook Heating Service

Ted responded immediately to my call and came asap to address the problem. Ted diagnosed the problem, arranged to buy the part needed from a local outlet, made the repair, then checked all the heating vents to make sure that heat was being distributed throughout the house.

We found Ted on Angie's List and called him at 9:45am on 1/30/14, we spoke and he said he would try to make it to our home by early afternoon. He called less than an hour later saying that there was an opening and that he could be at our home in 20 min. He was very knowledgable, and he explained what kind of heating system we had (a dual heating system with heat pump and gas). He explained that it is meant to be very efficient if set up properly. That was our only issue. The previous owners didn't have the system set up properly. We were relieved to hear that we didn't need to buy any extra parts and that nothing was broken. Ted corrected the problem and we had heat by 12pm. He was very honest and to the point. We really appreciated his professionalism and will definitely call him in the future. We highly recommend him!

I came home from a business trip early this evening. My wife reported that the furnace didn't seem to be operating. After consulting Angie's List, I contacted Ted Cook Heating & AC. Ted answered directly -- we didn't have to leave a message in response to a recording. He said he'd be over within the hour. He was. After diagnosing that we had a faulty vacuum switch, Ted made the repair with a part he happened to have on his truck. When everything was complete, Ted tallied up the cost of the house call and the part -- then, without our prompt, he applied a discount for an Angie's List coupon featured on his website. The cost -- even without the discount -- was very reasonable. With the discount, it was a tremendous value. We greatly appreciated Ted's prompt service, but especially his integrity and professionalism. This was probably the best home service experience we've ever had. We will definitely use Ted's services in the future, including an annual check of our entire HVAC system. We'll also encourage others to call Ted for any heating and AC needs. He was fantastic!

I spoke with Ted on the phone, he had a lot of calls in to him with the weather causing a high number of requests. He said he was finishing up a job and would follow up with me on a estimated time. He called to follow up after the job was already completed and made sure my furnace was working, he even followed up later that day to make sure it was still working ok. I felt he had great professionalism and follow up as well as knowledge. Its not his fault that there was such a high request of calls at the time. I had no work preformed but would feel completely confirmable using Ted! He will be my first call next time!

I had to call them back the other day and the exhaust started to sag on the elbow, which was causing water to build up. He came right out and fixed the issue. Also during the installation they had to take a door off, and one of the pins from the door was misplaced. These were minor issues. I think I got a good price and good service. They came in and replaced both units in one day. He gave me a significant discount for replacing both units at the same time.

Ted was punctual and professional. He diagnosed the problem as carbon build up and fixed the issue within a half hour. He is experienced knowledgeable and very honest. He was able to explain the reason for the build up and how he had repaired it. He had even ordered a new board in case he needed it but as this was not the issue he did not need it. He is a great example of an honest respectful and knowledgeable expert.

Our crawl space humidity was in the 80% range and we had mold growth in the joists and air handler. We wanted to get the crawl space "stabilized" (in Ted Cook's words). After calling many places, Ted came by and sketched out his proposal and it just made the most sense out of all the other proposals we had seen. We had been "burned" previously by another company so I think we were very thorough in vetting everybody we talked with. The end result is we now have a nice, clean, efficient crawl space with the humidity in the high 40s. We have no more "whistling registers" or "stinky sock smell" coming through the vents. Our family (and young daughter) are so much the better for it now. Ted's team was exactly on time. He told us in advance of how the work would progress. The work took two days with the first being the "clean-out and haul-away" and mold remediation day. The second day was the installation of the new HVAC system and duct work. It should be noted that Ted came by several times during the work to check on the progress, which was very comforting to us. His crew worked fast and efficiently and never left the job site (lunch is brought to the crew). Everything wrapped up on time and afterwards Ted came by to test the system. Afterwards, we went down into the crawl space and it is so clean and bundled and organized, we can move much more easily down there now. We checked and indeed the mold is all gone. It really is a long over-due makeover. We can't thank Ted and his team enough. Our new system runs more quietly and efficiently (we hope to compare electrical bills soon to see how much lower they will be). Also, we had never realized it before, but the slight odor our house had in the living areas is gone now. hA note about Ted himself. Very personable and knowledgeable. Even the little things such as when he stuffed our air vents with foam blocks to keep the smell of the fumigation out of the living areas of the house, he put extra foam in our daughter's bedroom register and told us to putt a towel over that and then a heavy book on top. Things like that really impressed us. Very highly recommended!

Great service and attention to detail. My son just relocated to Greer SC and moved into his new home. As a preventative measure I wanted to ensure the HVAC system was in good order. After reviewing Angie's list I contacted Ted and made an appointment for him to stop by the house. Ted stopped by the very same day as the move in. He checked out both upstairs and downstairs systems and discovered the heating function was not working in the lower level. Despite his best efforts, Ted could not fix the lower unit because the area was infested with bees who had taken residence underneath the unit. He refused to take payment for the service and returned two days later armed with BEE KILLER stuff. After treating the area, he was able to fix a broken cable which was precluding the heating unit from coming on. Fantastic customer service...highly recommend Ted for your HVAC needs.

Ted was very upfront with what he would do and pricing was given and never wavered. He and his crew were respectful and cleaned up well after they were finished. The units are working well and have had no issues. He took the time to show me personally how to work the digital pads and gave me a manual if I needed to refer back. The only problem we incurred was with a vent downstairs that because of its unusual size required a part to be ordered and that was not done in a timely fashion. Each time I called on it I was told it had not come in yet or that someone would be by to put it in but it took several months before that actually happened. I do believe he had good intentions and had told his crew to install it but they did not get to it and he had been off on vacation and thought it had been handled but had not. Other than that we had no issue. He was very apologetic about the whole mishap. We would still recommend him to anyone and would use him again if need be.

Ted and his crew did a great job. They took extra care when they came in our house. Work very hard and completed the job when they said. It is very important to Ted that every thing is done right and as his customer, that makes me very happy. I will recommend him to friends and family. The price is well worth the quality of work!!!!

Excellent experience. Mr.Cook was prompt and courteous. He diagnosed my problem and carefully explained all my options. He did not do a sales pitch but let me make my own informed decision. The installation of my new system was done very quickly. Mr.Cook followed up with an email and phone call to make sure I was satisfied. I did run into a drainage problem with my existing drain pipe. Mr.Cook came out on a holiday and did the repair himself. This gentleman knows how to maintain the value of his reputation and prides himself in providing excellent customer service. I would definitely recommend his service.

Always prompt, courteous, and knowledgable. He helped walk me through the selection of the new system and patiently answered my questions. He was honest enough to help eliminate a more expensive system from consideration. Another Trane installer was about 10% cheaper (this MAY have been a lower grade Trane line), but I chose to use him because of his demonstrated expertise and trustworthiness and high number of positive reviews. The installation was right on time and exactly as expected, and the unit has been running great for 2 weeks now.

He was able to fit me into a booked day, was very professional and able to fix the AC unit part quickly. He even provided some good advice on taking care of our unit.

I was smelling a burning smell coming from air vents in my home. I called Ted and he came to my home on Sunday within a couple hours. Ted went way above and beyond what was expected of him. He is very honest and straight forward. He did not find anything wrong with the air conditioning units. I will definately use Ted for any futue air or heating issues, or if any units need to be replaced. A real trustworthy gentleman.

When my A/C froze up, I called Ted because he had a good reputation on Angie's list. He said he could come out that afternoon, which was great! He first thought it was a motor but decided to let us try it overnight to see how it would do after unfreezing. He came by the next day and did replace a small part and said the unit was fine. He was very honest in letting us know that since the unit was old he didn't see putting a lot of money into it right now and just run it until it died and then replace it. There was no pressure, just honesty. I will use him again, when needed and I, most definately, would recommend him to anyone.

Ted Cooks team came in and replaced both HVAC units in two days. Big job! His team was the most professional, kind, and hard working people I have ever had work for me. His team was even joking around with each other. It was great to hear men having a good time and enjoying themselves as they were working. Ted?s installer Steve was worth his weight in gold! Steve was extremely knowledgeable, humble, kind, patience, and truly a good man! Ted is lucky to have him. Ted Cook is a man of his word. Ted is straight forward and does not waste any of your time. He did everything he said and more. I received 3 other quotes from other companies and they were all $3,000 to $4,000 more expensive with cheap equipment. A couple of the companies even called after and tried to pressure me into buying. Ted came out once and sent me a quote in an e-mail on three different packages of systems and I called him one month later. Ted installed Trane top of the line energy efficient equipment. I have a hard time trusting the construction craft in general, so to have an experience like this was a delight. I can fix almost anything myself and I am meticulous, so I know when some is doing a good job. Ted and his team did a GREAT job! This was truly the best experience I have had hiring someone!

Ted called me back within five minutes to listen to my problem. Even though he had a full schedule he was going to make sure to fit me in. He kept me informed of his schedule as the day went on. Before he was able to get to my house, I ended up figuring out that my condensation overflow float was stuck and got the system running. Ted was very helpful and I would recommend him.

Overall, the experience was great. Ted called back quickly after leaving a message for him. He arrived the next day at the time he stated. He instantly saw my AC problem and made the repair.

Our heat was taking a long time to come on. Ted measured the temperature at the vents and it was up to 139F. Our heat exchanger was leaking and when it go so hot a switch would flip and turn it off. The limit switch would the have to cool off before the heat would come on again. He told us to turn it off at night to be safe. He even called the next day to see if we needed a space heater for our bedroom. The day of the install it was rainy, but everything got installed in a professional manner. I would reccomend Ted to any one.
