Blair K. Rathbone

Description of Work: Hired to do asphalt removal over old driveway, then patch/repair concrete, and pour two new small areas. He and his "crew" rarely worked more than 2-3 hrs, when they showed up at all and work that they actually did do was less than stellar. I paid for materials as needed. Rathbone asked for additional draw to purchase more concrete as the job expanded. Then, he just loaded up his equipment at the end of the day, left, and I expected him back the next day to acid wash the old drive and start the new work. He never showed, doesn't return phone calls or texts, and has stuck me with a pile of chipped up asphalt to try and find someone to haul away. I don't have the equipment (or strength) to do it myself! Retired! First time in my life I've ever been scammed by a handyman, so lesson learned! Don't use this guy! Not that I have money to throw away, but my pride is hurt the most. Original estimate from this thief was $6200. I said NO WAY! He came back later, saying he really needed the work, and would do it for $4000. I said "you're getting close". I had gotten an estimate 2 yrs ago for $2500. He finally agreed to do it for $3000. Can we say that the original quote was a guess to see if I was totally stupid? He started late, showed up late if at all, his "crew" were about as ignorant as dirt, and incredibly slow. If he left, the work stopped unless I went out to prod them on. I am left with a big mess to clean up. It will probably cost me more than I paid out now to get it done right!
