About us

BE CAREFUL of other locksmiths using names that make it appear that they are us. We are the original Myrtle Beach Locksmith Service L.L.C. doing business here for over 10 years. Other businesses (I call scammers) have changed 1 letter, or added one letter to our name. I would give examples of their names but that only increases their Google search standings. If you want an honest locksmith company, make sure you contact us. Some of them are felons. (do Google search for NMB Felon Locksmith) I have proof that I an not a felon and carry that proof always. I have taken and cleared more then 3 criminal records checks; have they? I know for a fact there is one owner of a locksmith business here at the beach that is owned by a felon. For what I hear and read is one of the nastiest things I have ever heard of from a Locksmith. Please Google search it before buying locksmith services. We make most computer chip keys, called TRANSPONDER keys. Keys usually made and delivered in less than 1 hour. I can order and drop at your door, any safe you desire @ 25% over wholesale, not 200% most charge. DBA: A A 1 A North Myrtle Beach, Little River Locksmith Svc. & Conway Locksmith Service

This liar I had to call the police on and the Police were fantastic. Usually they say this is a civil matter. But this time they went to the door and told the lady [sic] that she must pay for service rendered. They called to have their house rekeyed which if I remember correctly was about 15 locks. They had no keys so that mean each lock has to be picked to rekey. Her locks were junk. Not withstanding, I gave a price that was about 300 to 400 and she refused. This was after I had taken off the front door lock to come to find that she had no keys. I waited over 30 mins. while she and her daughter tore up the house looking for a key. None can't do the job cheaply with out a key to open the lock. Police were called on her. Why didn't she say that? She gave a check and the Police told her that this check better clear. It did. I have more to say but I was told that I have only 5 mins. before the website times out. Police also told me that they have had trouble with the household before. They knew of her.

CUSTOMERS BEWARE! This guy was a total jerk to 3 women when he arrived on the scene; asked for payment over the phone using a credit card before he even knew anything which is sketchy to me so we opted to do cash after he arrived; Left me with my car alarm going off and only 1 door unlocked-had to crawl through the car to unlock other doors and he rudely demanded his $80 (he tried to quote $95 after he had already quoted $80 over the phone and it took him about 2 min to unlock the door) and spun out while snapping pictures of me standing in the parking lot. Very sketchy guy. Rated him on his Facebook page and was cussed out by him afterwards. He has proceeded to continually post pictures of us, use profanity under our pictures and harass us on Facebook. We have reported him to the police, Facebook and reviewed/rated him on every website we know to warn others.

Rudy is amazing at what he does. He will ask you basic queztions so be ready to answer them. First, what is the name on the lock. If you dont know the have your keys to the lock handy. Also count how many locks you have. Keep in mind that you have a door lock and a deadbolt so that one door can have two locks. Then leave him alone. He does his job with excellence and is fast IF people are not bugging him. You can tell he loves his job and just wants to work and not socialize. I appreciate people like Rudy. Awesome job and I am very pleased with bis work. Can you ask for anything more?

I had called him to help me get into a condo that I thought the people had left. When we got there they were still there and gave me a hard time but also the key. He was there approx. 25 minutes including the time he followed me home because I thought I had forgotten my check book. Halfway home I found it and stopped and paid him. He gave me the "Angie discount"..$80 instead of $90 dollar charge. He had every right to do this but ethically it was outrageous. He had a Little River phone exchange so I don't believe he went very far out of his way. I am a senior citizen and I felt overcharged. I would not ever call him again. He wasn't very pleasant.

I am writing this rebuttal in advance. (dating it by emailing it to myself) I just did a job for a lady named [removed member name] where I was to meet her at her rental condo and let her into it, the previous renters were evicted. As in almost every case like this, the evicted parties haven't left and possibly don't plan on leaving any time soon. Well, I met her at the Little River location and we went up the elevator to fourth floor on to fine irate tenants still there, packing. One of the 4 people there was very belligerent and I was about to pull my gun. This old lady with me (hey I'm 63 too) had more guts than I, she stayed right there and I assume listened to their babble whereas I took the elevator right back down and called the Police. I was a moment away from pulling my gun. I always think of what happened in Florida and I don't want to go through that too. I was worried about the old lady but actually me not being there probably made it safer for her being that I'm 6'4'' 275 and possibly intimidating. To make a longer story short, she came back down and she was alright and I called the Police back and cancelled their protection. (10 mins and never got there even though I told them I was armed and had been threatened.) From the moment of her calling me for service until this moment, I'd been on this job over 45 mins. I charge min. charge of $90.00 on overtime/emergency calls, which this was. Then she told me that she had forgotten her money, checks and credit cards at her home, some 4 to 5 miles away. I agreed to follow her to her house to collect. I was not going to charge her anything for this. She mentioned that she is a member of Angie's List so I gave her $10.00 off. Now the $90.00 min. charge is for service call and 10 mins. work/wait or whatever. After that time, the min. charge is one hour labor and service call, which is $167.50. That is what she owed me but I was nice enough to only charge her the $90.00 minus the $10.00 Angies' discount for the grand total of $80.00. By the time I got home, it was nearly 2 hours total spent on her. This was a massive gift and fantastic undercharge. BTW, in following her home to get money, she pulled over in a P.O. lot and I followed and she got out of her car and wrote me the check. She had the checkbook with her all the time. When I told her of the $90.00 charge minus the $10, she said: "are you going to charge me all that?" I explained to her that she actually owed me a min of $167.50 and possibly even more for the second service charge. This was totally in the opposite direction and completely out of my way. She then stated as she walked away, "It's all my fault". Not a thank you or by the way thanks for calling to cops to help her or to follow her to her house for payment and not even for the discount. I suspect she will be giving me less that the A PLUS I deserve for my outstanding service and helpfulness.

After doing some research on deadbolts and their security levels, we chose Medeco. Why? Because they have the highest level of security, check their website Medeco.com and see that their keys are made in the good old USA. Our keys also cannot be copied by any one not even a locksmith. You will see on this website that the owner is a "Preferred Locksmith", he guarantees his work and locks for as long as he owns the business and he has been a locksmith for over 40 years. The locksmith was a true professional and finished up in a timely manner and cleaned up afterwards. He answered all our questions about the High Security proponents of these locks and surprised us by warning us of a locksmith and an owner that is a felon in our area. We really appreciated that. We knew these locks weren't cheap but we felt it was well worth the difference in price for our safety. He also included a 10% "senor citizen discount". Our deadbolts are in and we feel very secure at last.

Thank you I guess. I always invoice customer before starting any work. As she stated, I have a range of locks to offer from $20.00 each to $75.00 each. I suggested the $75.00 each ones because I offer a lifetime guarantee for failure due to normal operation of the locks; again as she stated. And I installed (as she stated) heavy duty strike plates that I normally charge $30 to $40 each to purchase and install. These were included FREE, as she stated. It is NORMAL for the cost of replacing poor quality locks with new ones to run $200.00 per door, sometimes much more. She got a wonderful deal. I also gave her many extra keys for free, too. She was very nice to me and never complained while I was there. I thank you for your business and thank you too for submitting a review. I wish you would have given me straight A's. About the professionalism, we discussed in great length other options including a discussion about the dangers in the Myrtle Beach area and suggested that she get a Concealed Weapons Permit. This suggestion came up when we spoke about guns and gun safety. Myrtle Beach, recently was in the top 10 most dangerous places in the United States. I showed her a web photo from the SUN NEWS stating just that. BTW what other locksmith guarantees their locks for LIFE? Pretty Good HUH?

Had just purchased a rental home in North Myrtle beach and wanted locks changed on three doors. Called ahead and scheduled day and time and gentleman was there a few minutes early. He did a terrific job and explained it all as he was going along. Price seemed ok and the work was completed promptly and he supplied me with all the keys I needed. Very happy with performance of this company

I will never use this company again. The service representative asked questions apparently in "locksmith speak" because when he arrived, he scolded me for giving him the "wrong"information and then immediately tried to charge me double. I told him that I had only the amount he quoted and that was all I could pay. He ended up just changing 1/2 of the locks and I paid theoriginal amount for 1/2 of the work quoted. I was horrified by his attitude and will never use him again. I will say that he responded extremely quickly and promptly. Also, as soon as I pulled out my coupon, he again started to scold me that I didn't bring it out soon enough. But as soon as he saw that it was an Angie's List coupon, he became the sweetest person on the planet!!!!!!!!! Next time, I'll show it first thing (which was my original intention).

Response from Myrtle Beach Locksmith Service LLC
Here is what happened that day: Locksmith can I help you? She then asked if I could come rekey her locks at her house. I said, "Sure" and then I asked where she lived. She told me her address in Conway. I then asked: "How many locks do you need changed?" She told me 4. I said "great, I can do that for you right now". I then asked her if she had a key to the locks, and she responded that she did (not having a key adds a lot to the charges). I asked her what kind of locks were they? She didn't know so I asked her to read any name or numbers off a key. She told me that the key said KW1; which means they are Kwikset. I knew it would be an easy, no hassle job. She then asked "How much". So I then asked her if any of the locks used a key on both side of the lock; inside and outside. (As for double cylinder deadbolts have 2 locks in one {actually two cylinders}) She told me "No”. I then said, that I could give her a discounted price of $115.00 (reason I did this was because I needed to go to Costco which is nearby her location. And I wanted to make sure I got the job figuring that she like most others have called even as many as 5 other locksmiths, price checking. Normal price for this job would have been $135.00 min to $155.00. But this way I was getting paid to get near a location I needed to go. I made little on this job at $115.00. It costs me $55.00 just to leave the office. Now that's not her problem, it's mine. But you can see I'll make next to nothing. Total time involved is about 2 hours. An the hourly rate would have cost her $150.00; so you can see, she got a GREAT deal. Then when I arrive, I find out she doesn't have 4 locks as she told me to rekey, but EIGHT. I was flabbergasted. I said to her, "you told me you have 4 locks to rekey". That is when I first heard her say, "well, I don't understand 'Locksmith Speak' ". I said, Locksmith Speak? “I asked you how many locks you needed changed. You said 4”. Is that LOCKSMITH SPEAK? I don’t know of a clearer way to ask, do you? I said to rekey 4 more locks would add $60.00 to the cost. That is when she told me that she only had the $115.00 that she was quoted. As I prepared to leave, nearing the door; I asked her if she wanted just the 4 deadbolts rekeyed for the $115.00? She said that would be fine. So I promptly removed the deadbolts, went to truck to rekey them, returned and re-installed them, lubricated them and gave her I think 4 or 5 keys. I then asked her to check each one to make sure she was happy. While she did that, I put my stuff away and returned with the already signed invoice (I always get an invoice signed up front to have proof of what I was paid to do) and my credit card device; all made out with totals. Then she popped the 10% coupon on me. I was startled. I discounted the price already and now and an additional $11.50 off. I was upset at myself for not telling her when she called that the discounted price I gave her, excludes all other discount; my fault. My mistake. I always want my customers to get their Angie's List 10% off, but I blew it and was upset at myself. And the unsettledness that I may have shown was minimal. I am surprised she noticed anything. And I hate scribbling over a made out invoice. I do everything 100% as need as possible. She stated my attitude changed after seeing it was an Angie's list discount, which is impossible. Because I have no other coupons, anywhere so it could not be a “surprise coupon”. I wish I gave out 100 10% off jobs a week. That would be fantastic. As for my price getting a “D” it should be rated an A+++++++++++++ Call around - any locksmith in the Yellow Pages and see if that not a great deal. And as for the “Quality” of my workmanship being a “C”; that is outrageous. When you rekey a lock, it either works or doesn’t. They obviously worked perfectly. I guarantee my work for a lifetime. I have 100% guarantee on labor and parts, so if there was any problem, which quite obviously there wasn’t; I’d give her all the money back or fix the problem.

NOT professional at all. Appeared an hour early with no prior call as told. I absolutely didn't need him in the way with other contractors scheduled to put new handrails up on our ocean front tower, but he proceeded to block them from coming in and out as they needed. The request was to rekey (2) Schlage locks that were previously installed. First thing asked is how I'm going to pay, I said check, he said no I don't want to go to the bank. Then the orders came...I need a stool to sit on, I need a flat surface to put my case, I need better light ( ocean front sunlight @ 11am isn't bright enough?) He looks at the lock and said, oh you didn't tell me it was one of these. Yes I did! You're bill just went from $85 to $115. As he's reassembling the pieces he's telling me what a piece of junk I have..Walmart/Home Depot trash. The inside electronic wire is short in his opinion so this begins his rage and frustration...He begins dropping things, then tells me I have to hold the lock together for him since the piece of crap isn't going together....he needs scotch tape to hold it together? Then he proceeds to tell me my husband didn't know a thing about installing the lock originally because he left (4) screws out! No, we installed (2) more today and it's (2) screws for the cover not (6). This is #7 Schlage lock for us. Then he tells me he WILL get a drill from his truck to do it correctly or I can call my husband to come do it. By this time he is banging the door trying to get the cover to fit, dropping items, and raising his voice at me. So it turns into my fault! As he continued to test my husbands intelligence and getting louder to where the other contractors stopped to see what was going on, he slammed his case on the granite. I then demanded he leave once I checked to see if he had damaged the granite. He slammed out the door with the lock hanging in (3) pieces. The other contractor who was present had the lock together iin 30 seconds. And he's not a locksmith! He knew immediately was the incompetent locksmith had done wrong. We had a good laugh at how simple it was. The raging bull is going to blow a gasket, but it won't be with me........
Description of Work: Absolutely nothing. This locksmith is so incompetent he couldn't complete a rekeying job. He let his rage and frustration overtake the simplistic task at hand.

Report Date: May 03, 2012 Category: Locksmiths Services Performed: Yes * More Weight is given to a report where work has been completed. ***** If service was preformed, then how much were you charged for the locksmith to rekey one Cypher lock with service call? Answer is NOTHING! No, service was not performed - I was fired, told to leave, not allowed to finish. Where do businesses go to complain about the customers? ***** Work Completed Date: May 02, 2012 ***** Work was not completed, fired after 30 mins ***** Hire Again: No Work for this crazy lady again NO Description Of Work: Absolutely nothing. This locksmith is so incompetent he couldn't complete a rekeying job. He let his rage and frustration overtake the simplistic task at hand. ***** If description of work done is: “Absolutely nothing" then what is the complaint? Yes, with only 45 years of experience, I couldn’t do a simple rekeying job. Maybe I have done 10,000 of them? Never once did I show rage. She has something of a love affair with the words “frustration & rage". She keep on telling me that I was frustrated and I kept saying, “not at all". I was getting frustrated with her telling me over and over how frustrated I am. ***** Member Comments: NOT professional at all. Appeared an hour early with no prior call as told. ***** When she called, I told her that I would be there BY NOON and I arrived at 11:40. I have record of my call to her at her lobby door to let her know, also by her request, that I was there. Do you see a pattern here FOLKS? ***** I absolutely didn't need him in the way with other contractors scheduled to put new handrails up on our ocean front tower, but he proceeded to block them from coming in and out as they needed. ***** If I arrived early as she stated, then why was the construction crew still there when I left. They hadn’t even re-installed the railings yet. They were going to be there for many more hours. Only once did the man try to get past me and of course I moved to let him out. There were no problems here. I also think this lady didn’t like my haircut too. With all these complaints why did she not tell me to leave? Oh she did. She fired me. I gathered my stuff and walked out the door, tripping on a rope that the construction people had running from inside the condo to outside the only door. I charged her NOTHING! ***** The request was to rekey (2) Schlage locks that were previously installed. ***** yes, she didn’t tell me that they were Electronic locks. 10 times more labor intensive. ***** First thing asked is how I'm going to pay, I said check, he said no I don't want to go to the bank. ***** Yes, I always ask them how are they going to pay. I say: “Will you be paying with cash or credit card?” I never mentioned checks and banks because I don’t take checks and would never consider taking a check from an out-of-state person. ***** Then the orders came...I need a stool to sit on, I need a flat surface to put my case, I need better light ( ocean front sunlight @ 11am isn't bright enough?) ***** What does she mean ORDERED? Complaining about me asking to turn on the lights so I can see pins that are .005 parts of an inch different from the next size???? Can she find or make up more stuff to complain about? I asked her if she had a flat surface that I could use. Then a little while later when re-installing the Cypher Lock, I asked if she had a chair I could use. I have arthritis, fibromyalgia and have had a knee replaced; that doesn’t bend. Was asking for a chair too much to ask. Do you all see the pattern YET? I think I would be justified to show some frustration, don’t you think? And I didn’t. ***** He looks at the lock and said, oh you didn't tell me it was one of these. Yes I did! You're bill just went from $85 to $115. This is almost true, about time. BUT, if she didn’t like the price, she could have told me NO. The price was agreed upon before I do any work. An invoice totally filled out and signed by customer before I do any work. She didn’t tell me what kind of lock she had. so again, “Yes I did!” is a lie. A correctable lie by just saying, “Never mind, I will get someone else to do it.” Like her husband with 50 years engineering experience she kept telling me over and over. First of all, I don’t talk like a hick she is making me out to be, And secondly, what is “one of these”? She still doesn’t know what they are called so how could she have possibly told me that they were Cypher locks on the phone when she ordered service. As he's reassembling the pieces he's telling me what a piece of junk I have..Walmart/Home Depot trash. I did say that. The inside electronic wire is short in his opinion so this begins his rage and frustration. Never mentioned that the wire was too short and here we go again with the “rage and frustration crap”. He begins dropping things, Can you readers believe this? I am 61 years old with arthritis and fibromyalgia so bad that I have to take strong pain killers every 3 hours to move and she is complaining that I dropped a SCREW? Are you serious? Are you Angie List Customers seeing the pattern here? Doth she protest too much? Am I doing the same thing? Picking apart every lie here? I don’t think so. then tells me I have to hold the lock together for him since the piece of crap isn't going together....he needs scotch tape to hold it together? She told me that the lock was installed perfectly and my incompetence is what’s wrong here. She refused to let me get a drill and fix the original installation, so I asked her for a piece of tape, that she snapped at me: “I don’t have any” now starting to show her rage and frustration. So then I asked her if she would mind holding a part of the lock onto the door (which is what the screw and drill was needed to repair). She did it, nothing was said about how dare I ask her to hold the lock for a moment. I told her that I needed to re-install this lock correctly, that screw(s) were left out and she takes that as an insult to her husband? How sick must she be? Then he proceeds to tell me my husband didn't know a thing about installing the lock originally because he left (4) screws out! No, we installed (2) more today and it's (2) screws for the cover not (6). This is #7 Schlage lock for us. This just didn’t happen. 100% made up lies. I never mentioned her husband. I never slammed anything down anywhere. If what she said had any truth to it don’t you think that the construction guys would have come to her defense? IT DIDN’T HAPPEN! Now she insults my size too. It is a shame that us businessmen have no where to turn when outright lies are printed in “never ending slander” of the internet. I attempted to get the lock back together for about 20 mins and do you think I would do that when I don’t get paid for my time, but only what I accomplish? I left, tripping on the rope the contractors where using and did I think “maybe I should sue the home-owner for her negligence?” Please Angie’s List members, read her words carefully. It is obvious what kind of person I was dealing with! I think you should feel sorry for me and what I have to go through here. His name was Rudy. What was so special was that he helped my 90 year old mother to get in the camper. She wouldn't admit it but I think he literally picked her up and put her in. He was helpful with other information. He went above and beyond what he needed to do. He was moderately priced. He said that he would be there in half an hour and he was there in 20 minutes. We would mostly definitely use him again.
Description of Work: We used The Original Myrtle Beach Locksmith Service to unlock our camper doors and he came back to unlock the cubbie holes where the tools were.

When we contacted the owner of Original Myrtle Beach Locksmith Service L. L. C. about providing the locks for our new home, he chose to come over and see just what the house needed. When he suggested Medeco High Security Locks be installed, we agreed to get them knowing he knew the good quality. As soon as the locks were delivered to him, he called and made arraingments to come over and install all five locks. He was always on time and courtious. We were very pleased with his service, the price and his professionalism and would recommend him to anyone. When our builder checked the locks the next day he said they were the best locks anyone could have and the locksmith knew what he was doing because the job looked excellent. Not knowing any locksmith at all in the area, we were so happy that we saw the website for the Original Myrtle Beach Locksmith Service L. L. C. and were very impressed, and enthusiastic about the HONESTY represented there. There is truth in advertisement and they represent it, thank you.
Description of Work: We had the Original Myrtle Beach Locksmith Service L. L. C. install all the five locks in our new home.

Description of Work: I was out in Calabash when I realized I had locked my car key in the car. It was 2 am!! I called Rudy Fearson at Myrtle Beach Locksmith Service and he was happy to assist me, even at that hour of the night. It took him less than 30 minutes to get to my location. He was very personable and professional and had my car open with in minutes. The price was reasonable, considering it was an after hours call. I would recommend this service and I would definitely call them again if in need of locksmith services.

n April I had just purchased a home in Myrtle Beach and wanted all new locks put in. The locksmith came out and put new locks on. We requested only one key for all locks so we paid the price $559.70 more than a washer. One of the locks didn't work so I called to tell him and he said he would be here. Well he never came and vacation was over we had to go back to Massachusetts. On the way back the locksmith calls to say he would be over. I told him we left that we were on our way back, that we had to leave the door unlocked because it didn't work. We just arrived again in Myrtle beach on vacation, so we called the locksmith, he gave me such a hard time. I tried to explain that we don't live here its just a vacation home right now. Telling us the warranty is up, I told him we live here and haven't been here to even use the lock. Never again will I call use him. He was yelling at me. I couldn't get a word in.

Response from Myrtle Beach Locksmith Service LLC
What liars! This is almost 100% a lie. Yes, we did the work described here; at a huge discount I might add. No matter what the discount, the locks have to work, and they all did. All the locks were installed and all were keyed to the same key, as they asked. All 6 of the newly installed locks worked perfectly. I always ask the homeowner to check each and every lock before I leave. They did that as well. She went to each lock and checked each key. It took almost as much time for her to check the locks as it did for me to install them. I was paid and all were happy. The statement that they called me and I'd be there was somewhat accurate. The first time I tied to assist them (the next day after first call), I called about 8 PM and said I could be there in 10 mins, and they told me that they had company; to call back later. They told me that they were not in a hurry. Then a day or two later I called and they said they have left Myrtle Beach. They didn't leave MB with the door unlocked as they stated. THAT IS AN OUTRIGHT LIE! They left town! How can I fix it. I assumed, like 9 out of 10 of my other callback, that they had done something wrong with the lock and it worked as it was supposed to do. When 4 months later I got a call back again, I had no idea who it was. Some dummy screaming at me saying: “I won't fix their locks”. There area more than 10 other companies using my name here in Myrtle Beach. I expect more complaints to come to Angie’s List because of the scammers using my business name. I get complaints about these scammers weekly. Some even want to pay me but most start screaming at me about how the lock service wasn't completed or something else. That is what I thought this complaint was. About 4 months later, I received a call about a lock not working. The call was late at night and I told them that I would return to fix it with in a couple days. I knew from her statements it wasn't a deadbolt and the fact they have waited over 4 months to complain; I knew there was no immediacy needed. Also, as I suspected, the lock worked! Not 100% - the deadlatch occasionally stuck. All that was needed was a flick of the handle. The deadbolt worked fine as did all the rest of the locks. Only an idiot would leave their house open for months, right? No one I know guarantees their products for more than 30 to 90 days, but I guarantee mine labor and locks (most locks I sell) for ever. The locks they purchased have a lifetime warranty against defects. In 45 years of doing locksmith service, I haven't had even 10 call backs,in total. The fact is, I went back to their house and in 30 seconds loosened that screw that holds the lock to the door itself and the deadlatch worked perfectly. There was never any complaint of me not showing up at an earlier time. I reminded them that I called one evening and they wouldn't allow me to fix it then. There wasn't any screaming, another lie. But I did tell them that I would come fix the problem. And I did. The man that was there was happy I fixed it and said nothing to me to lead me to think anything was wrong with my service. AGAIN, NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED! PS All F's, you mean I wasn't on time? I charged too much (no complaint about that)? Obviously a frustrated elderly lady with too much time oh her hands. Please don't let this out-in-out lie stop you from you from using the ORIGINAL MYRTLE BEACH LOCKSMITH SERVICE L.L.C. I HAVE A LIFE TIME GUARANTEE FOR GRADE 2 U.S. LOCKS AND HIGHER QUALITY.
