I called fairly early in the day to ask his general ideas on my problem. When I described the problem he said I would probably need a new door and gave me a price estimate over the phone that was in line with wha I'd researched online. He offered to come by that early evening to assess the situation. When he arrived (on time) he retracted his earlier assessment and said I just needed a bracket to reinforce the door. (I had previously come to the same conclusion, having had some experience in the field, but no time or tools to perform the repair.). He offered to do the repair immediately, and offered a very fair price. During the repair he noted some worn pulleys on both garage doors and replaced them as well. The pulleys were indeed broken, so I'm confident he wasn't trying to sell me needless services. He did the work, was friendly, and fair. I am pleased, and have recommened him to a number of people I've spoken with.

The person at the office lost my request when I called the day before, but I called back when it was nearing the end of my window for someone to come service my garage door to check and make sure someone was coming. The same person took my name and information again and seemed to realize he had lost my request for service. Within 30 minutes JR was at my house. His last service call was supposed to be the end of his day, but he came out to my house when asked by the office. He was fantastic. He explained everything to me and gave me advice for what I might need in the future, but he did not press me to fix it yet. He was very quick, thorough, and did a fantastic job. I will definitely continue to use them and will ask for JR again. I'll just be sure to check in with the office when my window of service begins!

My garage door had been stuck shut for a few months. I called them and describe what my problem was with the door, they sent someone out within a few hours of my calling to come check it out. The tech performed basic maintenance on the door, tracks, rollers and checked the motor. The problem was the motor was shot (it was 20 + years old). He didn't try to sell me anything and did the maintenance for free. I went ahead and asked about getting a new motor and got an estimate of $295 including installation (checked with Consumer Reports ratings - very good), safety sensors, lock and two remote openers with batteries included. I scheduled an installation. They were there on time and finished quickly. Quick, professional, quality equipment at a fair price. Wish these guys did other types of home repair. I would use them for everything.

I pressed the remote garage door opener one morning ready to leave for work and the door wouldn't open. Had to open the door manually to get out. That evening when I got back home I was able to get the door open using the wall switch but it did not want to stay closed. I called The Garage Door Company the next day to schedule an appointment (got their name from the yellow pages) and the man I spoke to thought the electric eyes had gotten misaligned and we set an appointment which was a two hour window when they would arrive. The day of the appointment, the service guy called an hour early saying he could come early if that was convenient (it was). He came, aligned the eyes and charged me for the service call. He had brought a new set of eyes just in case but we did not need them.

Both times GDC responded with appointments the next day and work was completed that same day or the next. Repair personnel outlined the scope of the work and answered all questions, even the dumb ones. After my overhaul, he programmed the remote built into my car and made sure I understood how to do the same for my husband's. Prices were reasonable, I thought (though I didn't get comparative estimates). In both instances, the person was pleasant to deal with. My only criticism would be that, knowing he'd be replacing a lower door panel, he didn't have a rubber bottom bumper on his truck (assuming, I guess, that if I'd gotten the panel I'd think of the bumper too). I had to go to the home improvement store to purchase one when it seems that should be a standard replacement part to keep on the truck. Overall, though, GDC has impressed me both times and I'd recommend them.
