You should know that the owner does not paint. He sent several workers and then he came by (late) on the first day for about ten minutes and never came back to check the work. Painters cancelled first scheduled time due to shortage of employees. Kept putting it off for about a month. This made some of the pickets twist due to sun and the wood being unprotected. The seams on the columns also were more visible and had to be sanded by my contractor before painting. Did not properly sand the wood smooth enough. After painting everything on the porch, I identified at least 20-25 places and marked with painters tape where either they completely didn't paint areas, only got one coat on, painted on the brick, or dripped on the porch. The shutters were painted the wrong color with the wrong brand of paint. It was supposed to be "wrought iron" from Benjamin Moore and it was a black with green base from Sherman Williams (even though I gave the exact brand, color and number for the paint). Second time they repainted the shutters with an "exact duplication" of the color, again from Sherman Williams. Finally, got the right color. They did not tape off any areas or protect any areas from paint so I had lines on the brick around all shutters and fascia. There were spills and drips and over spray in other places. Shrubbery was not protected from drips. After asking the owner to look at the work, he came with a very hostile attitude and was very rude. He called my contractor and apologized, but never apologized to me for his behavior. The SAME 2 workers returned to sand the drips and repaint areas. They were to be here all day and only stayed several hours. The owner never checked the work to see if mistakes had been corrected. The work was not done right or completed so my builder had to do the work himself. You may ask why I paid, but my contractor was getting pressured for the money and we wanted to be done with Steven Martin. It has only been since May 2017 and all the seams and corners on my columns are separating due to inadequate caulking. I could have done a better job. At least I would have used tape or something to keep paint off my brick. If your profession is painting, you should be able to do so neatly and professionally. I sincerely hope no one has to go through what I did.
