I highly recommend this locally owned family business that provides great customer service. I've been using the shop for the past 3 years for routine repairs and maintenance stuff on my family's 3 vehicles. They stay very busy so I would recommend that you schedule an appointment prior to showing up. If you reside or work close by...they're willing to drop you off as well. The technicians are highly trained and certified. The owner is always friendly and helpful at all times. I always get a cost estimate before proceeding, so that I don't get any surprises when it's billing time. In a great location close near by the Lexington SC VFW building and right off Sunset Blvd.

I am a regular customer of Race Automotive due to their honesty, excellent workmanship and fair pricing. Ernie and his mechanics are top notch and very thorough. They pick up on small problems before they become expensive repairs. My 2010 Camry had a number of issues that needed to be addressed and after repairs were made, the car is running like new. I also recently had some work done on my 2004 Corolla with 220,000 miles on it. It too is now running like new again. I wouldn't consider taking my cars anywhere else for repairs and/or routine maintenance. If you give these folks a try, I think you'll be very pleased.

We called Race and explained what we needed. The gentleman said if we got it in right away he may be able to get it done before the end of the day. We said if not, would we be able to pick it up in the morning and he said, "Yes." We immediately took the car in and the lady at the front desk was not very friendly. When we hadn't heard anything by the following day, we called at 10 am and were told they were busy, but we would get a call back within half an hour. After almost two hours,and receiving no phone call, we went to the business and our car was still in the lot where we left it. Upon going inside, a gentleman from the back said they were just getting ready to bring our car in. We explained the sequence of events to that point and said we didn't feel we could have confidence in them after being told different things, and the lack of communication, so we were taking our car elsewhere.They need to improve their customer service.

Ernie is a really nice guy. They had my van from Tuesday till the next week on Thursday. For they the first 2 days my van wasn't touch. I understand people get busy but lack of communication is where they lack. That's my only issue with this business. LACK OF COMMINICATION. My van drives great. I can really tell the difference in my front end. I do have some other issues I want taken care of on my van and I will take it back to Race Automovitve.

I'm a repeat customer at Race Automotive. We brought another one of our cars in for an inspection and repairs recently. Ernie always explains what needs to be done and why. He and his staff are always very thorough in going over the car. They are committed to excellence in workmanship and insuring customer satisfaction. I can't praise them highly enough and will continue to bring my vehicles back to Race Automotive whenever they need to be serviced. I highly recommend them for any kind of automotive work. This is the second time I've used RACE Automotive for repairs to my car. Ernie, the owner is very knowledgeable and great to deal with. The quality of the repairs has been excellent. I've been very satisfied and plan to keep taking my car to RACE Automotive in the future. I've recommended them to all of my friends.

It went great. I have used Race multiple times. The first few times I used them they had me car done by the next day. This last time was not so good. My car has been there two weeks and nothing has been done. I've called multiple times and the communication has been lacking. They are not normally like this though. I think with it being Christmas has slowed things down. Still, better communication would be nice. I might update my review in the future if I use them again.

I hit a discarded tire while boxed in on the interstate, leaving black streaks on the fender of my brand new car that would not wash off. I went to Race Automotive for an estimate. However, they removed the streaks immediately and declined to charge me.

After the mechanics that I had used for the past 40 years recently retired, I was in search of a new auto repair shop that could continue to maintain my 10 year old Toyota Corolla. The first place I looked was Angie's list. Race Automotive clearly stood out as the place to go due to their numerous A ratings. Their ratings are well deserved. Ernie, the owner, really impressed me due to his honesty, extensive automotive knowledge, and his thoroughness in explaining everything. I felt he provided excellent customer service. I will definitely be taking my cars to Ernie whenever they need service/repairs. Check him out. I think you'll be as pleased and satisfied as I was.

He did just as explained. Actually got it out a day early. I feel that I have finally found someone I can trust to do good work at a fair price.

We absolutely love him. He’s a wonderful guy. He’s very honest and trustworthy. He’s a great guy. From the first time I met him, he’s shot us straight. He’s no BS. He’s very pleasant, very nice to deal with, and very honest like he’ll call you before he does everything. If you ever had any issues with your car you have to go and see him.

They were very reasonable. They did a great job, thourough and explained everything. I am more than pleased. I would absolutely continue to use them. There were a lot of issues that they found and kept the parts to show me. He called me at each stage that he found something. The truck runs like a brand new vehicle. It is all due to Ernie and I am proud to have done business with him. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone that said they have mechanical issues.

My services was done professionally. Time about 30 minutes, I called before going and they were able to fit me in. I previously had work done in September 2013 took a trip for Thanksgiving to Jim Thorpe, Pa after having my oil changed and checked the level 1-2-14 no loss of oil.

great, he was referred by a friend that uses him from time to time and told me he has always been fair on parts and labor and did repairs on time and was $405. less than a local "franchise ford dealer" had given me for same repairs the day before. my car is a 2004 ford crown Victoria with 33,000 original miles used only by my wife. I could not believe how much the ford dealer was going to charge me for the same repair. I am posting this review and have another appointment thlis week for this same garage to replace and a/c blower in the same car. I told him the problem over the phone and he gave me an estimate of one hour labor plus the cost of the fan blower. I didn't even bother going back to the ford dealer for a quote after his quote on my first price. I have found all "franchise new car dealers" repair shops charge 3 to 6 times what a "local, established" independent garage will charge. kudos to race automotive repair garage to be honest, fair and dependable. I hope others looking for repairs in the Lexington, sc area to read this and give this business a chance to look and quote them a repair price. I know they wont be disappointed.

The car runs and drives great! I have taken my other two cars in for service as well and they have done an excellent job. Ernie, the owner, is very knowledgeable and takes time to explain, in detail, things that need to be done and what to expect. My son now takes his cars there as well.

This is the second truck I've had serviced at Race and I will continue to go back. The owner spends time explaining issues in a way gear-heads and non-gear-heads can grasp. When necessary, he'll even pull up animated graphics on the computer to help explain issues, cause, effects and risk with letting certain issues continue. He's also very clear on whether he "knows" the cause of an issue versus when he "thinks" he knows what the issue is and explains that the fix may not resolve the specific problem. I thought the transmission was slipping in my '07 Ram which I just bought and drove home from Tennessee a month ago. After looking at and test driving it (during which the issue did not act up), he surmised the issue was the TPS but couldn't be 100% sure. I had him replace the sensor and the truck has ran perfectly fine ever since. Repair was made a week ago to date.

At first it was a little iffy speaking to the receptionist after making an appointment I delivered my car on time 8 am didn't hear anything by afternoon so I called to inquire about how everything was going. The receptionist was quite vague as to what was going on with my car this included cost and everything, I hung up and thought about it and called back and said I would be coming to pick my car up she stated that would be my prerogative, before I could leave I received a call from the manager. He apologized about the conversation that just had happened and explained that one of his techs had gone home sick and they will be getting to my car soon and would have it ready the next day. He also quoted me the cost and made some suggestions of some more services my car needed. Needless to say I did understand the situation all I wanted was clear answers so I would know what to expect. I told him please proceed with the maintenance. I received a call the next afternoon that my car was ready. It drove so much better. I'd like to write another review after my trip to see my grands in Pa.

I spoke with Ernie on the phone for a quote. Although my first call was not returned the same day, I had a very informative on my second call. He quoted me a price on installing a Jasper transmission in my 2003 Ford F-150. This was on Wednesday. After checking around I found his quote to be in line. He was also listed on Jasper's website as a preferred installer. He said he could have the transmission in house on Friday and installed by the end of the day on Monday. We went to pick up my truck after their regular closing hours. (He said he always stays late.) When we got there we only had to wait a few minutes because they were actually washing my truck. ( An added service he never mentioned) As I left the lot with my truck, I noticed that it sounded louder than when I left it so I turned around and went right back to the shop. They put it up on the lift and found that a small spot on the exhaust was not fully welded. Ernie personally did the repair while I watched. This took care of the loudness problem. Ernie even gave me a free oil change coupon for having to come back. I found Ernie and his staff very professional and competent. I would recommend Race Automotive for future repair needs.. Thank you Ernie.

They are reasonably priced and they back up their work. They supposedly fixed an oil leak in my engine, it is back and so my car is going back. If it turns out to be the same problem he will fix it again for free. Some things on an older car are tricky. I drop my car off on my way out of town and it sits for about a half a week. It is always ready when I need it. I will continue to use them.

I just purchased a truck at auction that had a handful of issues. RACE gave me a very, very thorough run-down of the issues including providing price/name-brand options on which parts to use. Ultimately I did a number of the jobs on the truck myself to save on the labor charg

The first visit on April 11th for the high mileage check went very well! My appointment was at 1:30pm and they were done by 3:00pm. They gave me three separate lists of work that needed to be done. The first list was items that needed to be fixed for safety reasons. I asked how soon these things needed to be done and he said ASAP. He even showed me a diagram of what was going wrong with the steering tie rod end, so that I could better understand the reason it needed to be fixed so soon. The second list pertained to getting better gas mileage. And the third list was minor fixes. I LOVE, love love love... the fact that they broke it all down into priority and not as urgent "to-do's." I used to go to Midas, and they are good as well, but EVERYTHING is a priority. I'd go into Midas for what I thought would be a $40 oil change and leave with a laundry list quote for over $600 worth of work! And when I would ask them which issues are priority and which issues are minor, they wouldn't give me a straight answer! So annoying! I'd be curious to know what Midas would do if I went in there with oodles of money and said "Do whatever you think needs doing, I'll pay whatever." The second visit on April 16th to fix the Steering Tie Rod End (Outer) and install the 4 new tires, went very well. My husband and I dropped the car off before they opened that morning and it was done around 3pm that afternoon. They even called me to let me know it was ready. And the bill was exactly what they told me it would be. I know sometimes things come up and you have to pay a little more than expected, but I was please that was not the case for this visit. And on top of the great work and reasonable prices. They are honest, friendly, provide EXCELLENT customer service, and personable! I did not ever feel like they were after my money and trying to rip me off. All-in-all I am very please with Race Automotive. And we will continue to return to them! A good, honest, and reliable auto mechanic is worth their weight in gold! (Because they are soooo rare!!!)

They were very courteous and made an appointment. I am planning a rather long trip and wanted to be sure I did not have any car trouble on the way. They kept me attuned to what needed to be done and did not treat me as a dumb female! I really appreciated their courtesy and will be returning for maintenance when needed.

They were quick to get my car towed. They had to order parts so it took a few days before they were able to start on the car, which ended up working out in the end. It was their idea to do the belts and oil, but it needed it and was not much extra (approx $90). Over all they did a good job. My car is still running well. The parts were expensive, but I should have had it fixed right the first time and may have been able to avoid the repairs that the car ended up needing.
