When I was making contractor calls from Angie's list, two different plumbers said they did not do work for Lowes because the contractor was paid so little of the installation charges, so maybe that is why the installation charge was so high.
Description of Work: I purchased a water heater from Lowes and this is one of their installers. The company name is also SED Mechanical as well as some other third name on their voice mail as well as SED Mechanical. I paid Lowes the $35 (that was a good price) to have the contractor come out to look at the job to move my new water heater about 10 feet. I also needed a new 30 amp breaker and about 12 ft of wire. The panel box is located 3 ft from where the new unit is going. This is a hybrid electric unit, but the installation is very similar. These people wanted $975 to do this job! My old water heater sprung a leak so perhaps they thought I was desperate. I said NO THANKS and found a certified plumber and a certified electrician to do the job for $500 to $550. Debra who answers their phone is nice, but overall I was not impressed with this company and would not call them again. To clarify, the new combined quote of both contractors is $500 to $550, but that is still $425 less than going through Lowes.

Response from DEDMON'S PLUMBING & ELECTRICAL
Thank you for your honest review of our company. Customer feedback is always appreciated. While we did contract through Lowes to install water heaters we no longer work through them. The main factors include the price we get paid versus the price they charge. Lowes does mark up all install pricing to include additional labor needed to install. Without that markup our price would have been in that range. I would also like to note that we are licenced, insured and bonded. We have moved on to do only private work as we felt our customers deserved to have our pricing and quaility workmanship with out the Lowes markup.
