 + 0 moreThey came quickly and were here on time as promised. The options and costs were discussed for short term and long term solutions to the problem. This was not the first time I have called on this company for help. Every time they have responded each time promptly, gave me a reasonable explanation of the problem and the solution for each situation. They work with me on what was best for ME! The drain line is still open and I plan to have them replace the pipe in the future. Cottrell & Co are the most courteous people I have ever done business with and their work has stood the test of time. Excellent work and very professional. I have recommended them to countless people at work and my circle of friends.
Description of Work: Drain line that services kitchen and laundry was obstructed. The line was cleaned out and reopened for use.

They experienced rusted frozen drain pipe in one and cut it off and replaced with new pipe included in faucet kit. It gave me confidence that they knew what they were doing! They were very friendly and courteous. They worked quickly and finished the job in about one hour. They cleaned up the work area before leaving.
Description of Work: Jason and partner installed two new faucets in the master bath sinks, also replaced old cut off valves and water lines.

 + -1 moreWe called on Thursday evening due to what we thought to be a leak behind a ceramic tiled bathroom wall. We were concerned we'd be facing a costly repair. Jason came the following morning and confirmed the leak was indeed behind the wall. He took the time to explain the possible causes as well as the possible cost. Jason was able to repair the leak by replacing a nipple and an angle stop. To our relief we did not have to go through any walls which saved us a great deal of anxiety and money. We also saved the service fee because we're members of Angie's List. Great Job Jason!! We will definatley call again if the need arises.

 + 0 moreI appreciated his honesty and integrity. He could have pushed -- as some companies might -- replacing the water heater or charged for his assessment. He did neither. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. I will definitely use him again. This is the kind of contractor with integrity Angie's List was created for, so others would know about the good work. Not too often do you find contractors you can trust.
Description of Work: I noticed water was accumulating around the water heater in the crawl space, and it appeared to be coming from the water heater. Jason came out same day and checked out the heater--found no sign of water leaking, and said it was a quality unit that should last several more years. He thought the water was from the hard rains in late Dec. which soaked the ground and found their way to the lowest point in the area, which turned out thankfully to be the case. He also went on to check the other parts of the crawl space for any issues with pipes or water leaks, and found none (he even removed a small critter!). I appreciated his honesty and integrity. He could have pushed -- as some companies might -- replacing the water heater or charged for his assessment. He did neither. I vacuumed up the water for a few days, weather dried up, and all is fine.

 + -1 moreThe job was done perfectly, Jason came promptly even though it was Sunday, and the price was way below what I expected
Description of Work: We had a leak in the copper pipe above ceiling and called Jason because he had worked for us before and we were very happy with his work. He came the same day and fixed the problem very quickly. The next week we had a different problem with a leak in our irrigation sysem plumbing under our deck. We shut the water off and called Jason not knowing whether he would come out that day since it was a Sunday. Not only did he come right over and fix the problem (which was caused by faulty installation by someone else), he did not even charge for the service call since he said he would consider last weeks service call and this one as one. Only charged for the actual work done. Jason is a wonderful person and is a master plumber that does not take advantage of anyone. Highly recommend Cottrell Plumbing.

 + -1 moreOur downstairs toilet was backing up with water all over the floor, as well as our kitchen sink. Upstairs toilet also was starting to back up. We called Cottrell because of the quantity of rave reviews. The young lady on the phone, Dana, was a sweetheart, and said Jason would call us ASAP. He called not 10 minutes later and said he would be here between 6:30 and 7:30 that evening. He was here at 5:30. He checked it out, advised that it was a city problem, he called the water department in our behalf to schedule someone to come out that night. He did not charge us the service fee. Super professional and pleasant, and did not take advantage to charge us for unnecessary work.
Description of Work: Diagnose problem with 2 toilets and kitchen sink backing up.

 + -1 moreSuspecting what I had fixed within the last year was something I could do on my own, I went to fix-it-yourself box store and got advice and supplies to do myself. After starting out I quickly got myself into emergency water valve cut off and moping up water bucket of leaking toliet water tank off the floor. I didn't even want to start on the repair of my second toilet water tank. I came to the Angie's List web site and for my first time found what I needed, wanted and am glad to now have what I hope to be my "on call plumer man" company. Thanks Jason and company!

Description of Work: I have contacted this company twice. The first time they were not able to get out here that day, but tried to talk me thru fixing it myself. When that did not work, they recommended a couple of other companies that might be able to help me. The 2nd time it was a quick fix and with coupon there was no charge. My sister has also had them come out for something and was extremely pleased and said she would definitely recommend.

Description of Work: Our Pergo kitchen floor suddendly was buckeling ! We were convinced that we had a serious leak problem under our slab foundation. Mr Cottrel's through inspection and experience proved we did not. While he was here he discovered a big problem with our outdated waterheater; also 6 month old kitchen faucet, bathroom faucet & dishwasher malfunction. We did have him replace the hot water heater, kitchen & bathroom faucets. Jason is extremely compentent, polite & neat. Willingly recommends workers with other skills and usually answers his cell phone immediately or calls back within the hour. I highly recommend him. Well worth the $$.

 + -1 moreWe were renovating our kitchen and wanted to switch from an electric to a gas stove. We needed a gas line run from the meter to our kitchen. Jason ran the line through an existing hole in the foundation and into the bottom of the cabinet next to the stove. He added an emergency shut off valve and explained everything to us. He also hooked up the stove for us even though it wasn't part of what we originally asked for. He even filled in the hole in the foundation with mortar even though he didn't make it. Everything was done VERY quickly. The price he quoted was in line with other contractors we had estimates for but his professionalism and speediness makes him better than the rest!
Description of Work: Jason ran a gas line from the main service to our kitchen so we could install a gas stove.

 + -1 moreThe person who took my call was very courteous. I noted it was not an emergency, so she scheduled a visit for the next day. The plumber, Jason Cottrell was prompt and courteous. I was glad he didn't try to say I needed repair work when I apparently didn't.
Description of Work: I called them to check if I had a leak under the house because my water bill was unusually high. They checked and found no leak, and suggested there might be a problem with the estimation process that the water company used to compute my bill. They told me to call the water company if the next bill is high and to call Cottrell & Co. back if the water company couldn't explain the problem. Cottrell & Co. did not charge me anything for the visit.

 + -1 moreSomehow Jason didn't get the time for our visit right the first time. When we called, he came the next day and didn't charge us for the service call, since he had been a day late! He then fixed the faucet and did the scoping described above. The charge was for the scoping - again, much less than the two other companies had charged us. Jason is a great find - an honest and smart plumber!
Description of Work: Jason Cottrell repaired a leaky faucet for us then scoped our sewer line, which two other companies had told us they would replace for thousands of dollars. Jason said that the problem was on the public right-of-way, and all we had to do was call to get it repaired. We called, and he was correct - repaired at no charge to us! Jason saved us thousands! You can bet we will call him again!

While we expected him at a specific time that day, he called well in advance to say he would be late. He showed up at that specified time, removed his shoes, was professional in his manner and explained the problem after listening to our observations, and then worked to solve the problem. In case it re-occurred, he gave several options about what might need to be done. The price was reasonable compared to what we have paid in the past.
Description of Work: The problem was with the wax ring not being sealed. After working with it, he determined that another wax ring was needed to solve the problem.

 + -1 moreSometimes, the work they do NOT do is as important as what they do. From the first phone call to the departing handshake, this was a pleasant bunch of people to deal with. Chris showed up exactly as scheduled (I called mid-morning, he was there mid-afternoon) and investigated a spot in my crawlspace that had become muddy without any apparent seepage from outside. He tested all the waterlines close by and couldn't find a problem. He gave me a few theories as to what might have happened and told me what to watch for in the future which would indicate that it is a plumbing problem. These folks are prompt, courteous and professional. When I do need plumbing work, they will be my first call.

 + -1 moreThey arrived same day as called, removed shoes when coming in the house, and explained in detail the work that was being done. We were involved in every step of the process and they made sure we approved before continuing. They were very pet friendly-we had our dog shut in the bedroom and we were told "please don't keep her in there on our account". When they were done, the bath was cleaner than when they came! They went over the bill with us and made sure to fully explain the warranty and its limits at the end of the call.
Description of Work: Replaced shower fixtures (knobs) and rebuilt all plumbing leading to them.
