Great -- The only reason we did not use them was because it was close to $200 cheaper to have the same toilet installed by Lowes. However, for smaller repairs, we would definitely call them again.
Description of Work: Jimmy Yonce was respectful & did a quick assessment of the situation with our two toilets. We would definitely call him again for repairs that could not be handled by LOWES.

I noticed "leaking" in the guest bathroom, so I called early in the morning. I left a message, and Cottrell & Co. returned my call in just a few minutes. I described the situation, which they believed was a broken water seal (cost of repairing about $150). We set up an appointment for them to come in two days, and after the visit, they realized it was a smaller issue. The ballcock needed to be changed, so the actual service was just $75 (service call charge of $49.50 is waived for Angie's members!). They were prompt, polite, respectful, and helpful. I would use their services again!
Description of Work: The toilet in the guest bathroom began to "leak" for no reason, with water around the base. Cottrell & Co. came to look at the issue and determined the problem in just a few minutes. The ballcock needed to be changed, so he quickly fixed it.

A neighbor noticed that we had water leaking into the street. Upon inspection, it turned out that the water meter appeared to be leaking. The city water department came out and confirmed this, but said that it was on our side of the meter. Apparently the pipe had rusted out at the meter. Since the water pipe was over 60 years old, Cottrell recommended that we replace the whole line and not just splice in a new connection in order to avoid a similar pipe failure somewhere else on the line. They performed the work when they said and added value by making new connections under the house, with new cut-off valves both under the house and outside the house (we had to use a water key to turn off the water at the meter previously).
Description of Work: Cottrell dug up and replaced main water line from the meter to the house, which was a major job due to rocks and tree roots in the path. Made new water connections under the house. Installed new cut-off valves outside and under the house for future use. Very professional and thorough. I will use them again. I am not sure if the price was "excellent" or "good", due to not having anything similar done previously to compare to, but it certainly was a fair price.

Jimmy Yonce arrived 15 minutes early and was invited in, at which time he took his shoes off before entering!! He inspected what I was telling him was a leak under my kitchen sink. He took apart the pipes and the drain and found a broken piece of metal. He replaced the drain and put all the pipes back on and checked for leakage. He then cleaned up all around the area and under the sink. It looked better when he left then when he arrived! All this in 30 minutes.....and he even asked if he could wash his hands. Just an amazing experience overall!
Description of Work: He removed all the pipes under the kitchen sink and discovered my metal "ring" had broken in the drain and therefore causing the leak. He replaced the sink drain and put all the pipes back together.

I had a water pressure problem for several years. I contacted the county water department. Several months had passed without a call from them. I called and talked to a engineer, he took the time to discussed the problem with me and then suggested I call a plumber. I called Cottrell & Company from Angie's list because of their high rating. They made an appointment and came the next day arriving on time. Jimmy the plumber and I discussed the problem. I told him I had attempted to adjust the pressure valve in the past, but the water pressure did not change. The pressure valve is required by the county to reduce the water pressure coming into the house. I pointed out some other changes that occurred to the plumbing over the years. The plumber said it still appeared to be a dirty or bad pressure control valve. He did some testing, disassembled the valve and found some debris inside the valve. He cleaned the valve and made an adjustment. The water pressure came back up to normal. He explained the pressure valve was at it maximum adjustment and it might have to be replaced if the pressure drops again. I asked him to look at a loose shower faucet handle that was giving me fits, he fixed it within a couple minutes. He didn't change the valve at this time because whoever originally installed the valve cemented the box in place and the cement will have to be removed before the valve can be replaced. He suggested I check with the neighbors to see if any of them are having a low pressure problem, just to make sure the county isn't having a problem. I did that and they seem to be okay. He asked me if I found his company on Angie's list, which I did, so he waive the service charge. I will definitely use them again.

Overall project was 100%. I would recommend Cottrell and Co to anyone.
Description of Work: Contacted Cottrell and Co regarding some plumbing issues. The owner, Jason Cottrell, responded to our phone call and scheduled a site visit the same day. Did a thorough inspection of everything (plumbing, toilets, water heater) we asked and more to find the issue. After inspection, we had a very detailed discussion of what the problem was and what his recommendation would be for the fix. Jason took alot of time going over the particulars and explained in detail what the fix needed to be and how he and his team would complete the work. We scheduled the repair and he had his team show up the next day. His team showed up in company vehicles that were spotless. All three of his employees were professional and courteous in their installation and answered all questions we had during the installation. I had 4 new toilets installed along with a tankless water heater.... All in one day.

I did not want to work on the main drain line that extended to the sewer line and gave Cottrell a call based on their reviews. The price offered was reasonable and firm. Previous quotes had given a window of prices such as $500 - $700. The work they did was great and our disposal now works without issue. I would definitely hire this company again in the future.
Description of Work: I put in a new sink and disposal only to realize that my drain line was now higher than the drain line coming from the disposal. I needed a new drain line from the kitchen sink to the sewer line.

After reading great reviews on Angie's list, I sent an email requesting a quote for having a garbage disposal replaced. Jason called first thing in the morning and scheduled an appointment. Great experience! He was able to replace the disposal on the spot-the entire job took about 25 minutes. Professional, courteous, and quick. I will definitely call again if there is another plumbing need.

I had the tile redone in my kitchen and had removed the existing sink, faucet, and garbage disposal. I could not get TWO new sinks to fit into what I though was a fine prexisting hole. I was already tired of dealing with it. Anyway, I called and setup an appointment to get this all taken care of. Jason came and in probably two hours did the install and cleanup. He was very professional and was on time. It is hard to give an "A" to a plumber on cost (so I gave a B) because it is expensive work, but I would gladly call him again. The money is worth it in time savings and hair pulling out.
Description of Work: Installed new kitchen sink, new kitchen faucet, new garbage disposal, reconnected dishwasher, and replaced two water stops under the sink. I provided the sink, faucet, and garbage disposal. Cottrell provided the new plastic piping and miscellaneous.

Jason, of Cottrell & Company responded very quickly to my request for an estimate to replace my existing gas hot water heater which was leaking. I inquired about replacing my traditional tank-type water heater with a tankless unit, to which Jason patiently explained the pros and cons, and untimately said for our requirements, we could go either way, but it it were him, he would go with a tankless water heater. He further described the scope of work, and suggested that we relocate the water heater if we go the tankless route. There was no pressure whatsoever to decide on either or to decide quickly, which allowed me time to do some research. We ultimately chose to go tankless. Upon's Jason recommendation, we went with a Rinnai Tankless Water Heater and scheduled a date for installation...noting that my problem with my existing water heater occured a couple days before Thanksgiving. Jason's technicians showed up ON TIME, and indluded an electrician, as a remote thermostat and on/off switch was installed inside. Everything I was promised was delivered and completed in a very professional and workman-like manner, at EXACTLY the price as estimated. There were no disappointments or unwanted surprises. Cottrell and Company is an exceptional company, showed up ON TIME, EVERY TIME and I thought their price was reasonable. I highly recommend Cottrell and Company, as I am very pleased with their work. And, I'm very happy that we went with the Rinnai Tankless Water Heater...from what I've heard we shouldn't have to worry about replacing it for 20 - 25 years or so.
Description of Work: Removed old, leaking gas water heater. Installed Rinnai Tankless gas water heater at different location from old water heater. Re-routed plumbing and gas line to new location. Capped off water and gas lines that went to old water heater location in garage. Installed access panel cover over hole in garage wall where old water heater vent was. Installed remote indoor thermostat to control new Rinnai Tankless water heater.

Jason personally came out and evaluated the situation when I had my original problem. I had originally thought that a tankless system would be best for my particular situation. Jason arrived the day I called. He was professional, punctual, objective and thorough in his review. In the end his recommendation was to stick with a tank based system due to the additional expense I would incur with new plumbing to run pipes outside my house and external gas tanks that would be needed with a tankless hot water system. A few days later, He installed two very nice A.O. Smith tanks that were of very high quality compared to my original set-up. Due to the special dual series configuration he brought in an electrician to handle the wiring for my system. I was impressed that Jason personally called me later that evening to see if everything was to my satisfaction. While the plumbing and new tanks were great, the hot water wasn't quite at the level or volume that I originally had. Jason absolutely owned the issue and worked with the electrician to arrange a subsequent visit to make sure I was 100% satisfied with the work. Cottrell Plumbing is a straight-up company that I would absolutely recommend and do business with again. If you want an independent plumber that does't charge a la cart arm and a leg prices, then Jason is your guy. Dependable, Thorough, and Trustworthy.
Description of Work: Replace two 45 gallon hot water tanks. This was a unique job in that these two tanks were connected together in series and also had a unique electrical configuration.

We have had several ongoing plumbing issues that had not been resolved by past plumbing companies (not on Angie's List). After our disposal broke once again, decided to use Cottrell & Co. because of the numerous good reviews. Jason and Jimmie showed up early for their appointment, reviewed the work I had requested, and gave me an estimate. They went above and beyond, replacing my disposal, fixing bathtub leaks, drain issues, and stopper problems, etc. We have 3 bathrooms in the house. They even threw in insulation for my outside faucets when Jason noticed they were loose. An overall great experience and everything is now in working order. Jason did explain that we had the older tub faucet models and time would tell if his fix would work or if he would have to rebuild them at a later date. We appreciate his honesty.
Description of Work: We have several plumbing issues that needed to be addressed. A broken kitchen disposal, tub faucet leaks, slow drains, leaky pipes, and stoppers that did not work.

The crew was on-time and very polite and professional. Also, Jason responding to my calls/text messages almost immediately (for texts) and both he and his wife treated me well - always a pleasure to do business with them. My only complaints are two fold. One, the crew left the wall by the shower head dirty with dirt smears along the painted wall. I also had to clean the trim. The hole in the dry wall also could had been done with more care to easy the replacement of the cut out drywall. They punched through to the other side, leaving holes that had to be cutout and filled, and they did not cut a clean edge in the drywall so I had to cut the edges along the wall and removed panels to not show the jarred edges when mudding it all back into place. And two, the price seemed high to me. $450 for a master plumber and apprentice with very little materials used is a bit high --- consider a master plumber is around $75/hr (say 75x2x2=$300 paying the apprentice as a master plumber). $300 for labor, credit for the 49.95 service fee because of angie's list member (never charged on invoice - thank you) which leaves over $150 in material costs? Again, it does not add up in my mind for this particular job. Jason and crew are a pleasure to work with but I'll have to confirm a quote before the next job they do with us.
Description of Work: C&C came out to install a new shower valve and replace my trim. I had bought both the trim and valve before the visit. Since the existing valve needed to be removed and changed out, the back side wall had to be opened up to preform the work. I removed the existing trim minus the shower head and they worked for just under two hours (2-man crew). They removed the old valve, installed the new valve, repiped, and installed the new trim.
