+ -1 moreI would not hire this contractor again. He did not finish the job. I initially posted a scathing review wherein I expressed my opinions about his actions and professionalism. When he saw the review, he called and threatened to sue me.
Description of Work: Installed new control panel and box in older hot tub. They were supposed to install a new pump.

+ -1 moreShawn is a professional businessman with a heart of gold. I would recommend him OVER ANY SPA REPAIR SERVICE in the Columbia area! He is honest, understanding and prompt! This is service that is hard to find in these days and times (especially, and I hate to admit this fact, with a single woman who knows nothing about mechanical devices!). He could have taken advantage of me ( as many "service oriented businesses will do in a heartbeat), but he did not! A true test of honesty in my book!
Description of Work: My 450 gallon spa was hit by lightning two years ago. I had Griffin Pools & Spas come out and give me an estimate. My spa is approximately 10 years old and they don't make spas with dual 6.0 hp pumps anymore. Griffin said they could only order 2 new pumps for me, only 3.0 hp each (as they don't make those large pumps anymore). The cost for these new pumps, $1,200. This did not include a new motherboard for the spa as they couldn't tell if it was damaged until the pumps were working. I contacted Shawn Zenisck at Action Hot Tub Repair. He promptly came out and suggested that he remove the pumps and take them to a machine shop to see if they were "totally burned up". The repair show rebuilt one of the pumps and was able to order a 5.5 hp pump in replacement for the one pump which was beyond repair. Shawn advised me to go this route, so I ordered the pumps, total cost, $560.00 for a new pump and a rebuild of the other. Shawn promptly came over and installed the pumps. After the pumps were installed, it was found that the motherboard was also fried and we would have to order a new motherboard including the top controls. He quoted me a price of $750.00 including labor. Needless to say, I didn't have the money at the time (I am a widow with two kids in college and their "junker cars are always going to the mechanic, what can I say?). I told him I would have to call him back and paid him $125.00 for the labor of putting in the pumps. Shawn assured me that "I will be around when you are ready to finish the job". Fast forward 10 months......I FINALLY had the money for the repair. I called Shawn, he ordered the necessary parts and was here in a week for the repair. The spa is working fine and he charged me the amount he quoted 10 months ago!
