+ 31 moreOn July 27, 2013 Steven Ray Benson of Superior Masonry & Construction & and our family signed a contract for work to be done at our home by Mr. Benson. The contract states that Mr. Benson will perform the work needed to re-face the bottom of the hearth where we scaled back from the prior external kerosene heater, he would then cut the existing chimney and prepare said chimney for a wood burning insert - a wood insert we agreed upon (the Quadra Fire Voyageur w/face), he was also to step the existing mantle down one brick level and build two wood boxes on the side of the hearth. He also was to reface the entire hearth and the wood boxes with Tennessee Field Stone. Contract also states he would resurface the original chimney in den 1 with the same stone. Contract also states that he will provide the Quadra Fire Wood Stove with agreed terms of $625 deposit, $800 upon completion, & $900 paid in $300 increments over a 90 day period. The job was to start July 29, 13 and completed by Aug 2, 13. I constantly had to chase Mr. Benson down asking him where he was and why was he not on job working. His voice mail would never take msgs. He hardly replied to text Always promised he was on way getting loaded as we text. Excuse after excuse he never showed and he never called to say he wasn't coming. He said stove was ordered and then in transit refused to give conf # - He said it was because he had to ship it under a bogus name due to Quadra contracts. I phoned the supplier they told me he never ordered it - said he only called and asked questions. They can not sell out of territory (ohio). Steve knew I was going to make police report and press chgs on him he set another deadline which came and went - He finally came to house 5 hrs after deadline with wood flooring! We did not have contract on flooring - He had no stone no stove etc. We declined the flooring and told him to return our deposit.. to this day we have not heard from him and not rec'd deposit. To date I am listing him and his business on BBB Angieslist and Craigslist to help get word out. I have filed a police report in NC and SC. NC and SC both are treating this as criminal and civil offense - pressing charges in both states.
