It was exactly what I had hoped for when I bought the deal. I had a preliminary plan and wanted a review by a landscape architect.
Description of Work: I purchased a landscaping assessment. Since I already had a basic landscape design that I had created myself, the appointment time was used to have my ideas reviewed and to get suggestions and new ideas. I had already started implementing some of my design. The landscape architect that did my assessment graduated from NC State and was very knowledgeable. He reviewed my plan and gave me workable suggestions and ideas. I did implement most of them. He advised me about problems with some of the shrubs that were already in place, most of which were planted by the previous owners. A couple of the plants were invasive. I had a VERY limited budget and after I shared that with him, he made improvements in my existing plan that did not increase the cost. I apologize for not remembering his name but it has been months since the assessments was done.

Pleasant Landscapes does such a professional job, I just had to write them up on Angie's List. My husband and I are so pleased with their service. They go above and beyond to insure a fabulous looking lawn/landscape. Today, the crew came and did yet another wonderful job. The way they edge my gardens is perfect! I'm a gardener, and I'm very fussy about my yard, so when I say they do a great job, it's coming from a very particular person!! I just came in from outside and found they'd also blown all the leaves out of my back gardens, something that was not expected. I was going to go out there and do it myself today, but, happily, I found it had already been done. Whenever I find something I'd like the guys to address, they do it with good nature and professional expertise. I would recommend Pleasant Landscaping -- Isle of Palms -- to anyone in this area. Description of Work: Mowing, leaf blowing, trimming, edging (I put $0.00 in the box on how much I'd spent because this is a yearly service. I'm not sure exactly how much one day is worth, but that's irrelevant to the matter at hand.)

I bought the coupon for a landscaping assessment. After much difficulty scheduling an appointment a designer finally came to the house. After a cursory examination of the backyard, he told me he'd come up with some ideas and a quote. Nearly two weeks later I received an estimate with almost no details and a dollar figure of nearly $10K. To give you an idea the backyard is very narrow and the estimate included sod and some plants. I ended up doing the work myself for about $800 in grass and plants and some sweat equity. Would not recommend this company. No Vistpassion, they seem to just be going through the motions.

Pleasant Landscapes came out and had a look at my yard. They responded quickly, were able to accomodate my schedule, and were punctual. I was only looking for consulting services as we have an oddly shaped yard and we don't mind gardening. They had some great ideas for how we could improve our curb appeal and provided an estimate for performing the work.
Description of Work: Landscape consulting services. No alterations to the yard were made, just consulting.

When I called we scheduled and appointment they came out and said that if I wanted a drawing it would cost another $125 even though the Deal description said it included a drawing. They told me they would spray paint the areas where they would put bushes instead. We discussed the plans and they told me they would get back to me. After they left I looked in the deal description and told them they needed to give me the drawing without charging me extra. I ended up speaking with the owner of the company who sent somebody out and gave me a drawing. After that they never followed up.

I bought a voucher on Angie's list for a review and lawn plan by Pleasant Landscapes. Ned showed up and we discussed how we would change my overgrown and out of control yard into something nice. That would be the last time Ned came to my house. Around two weeks later, the irrigation was installed. Around two weeks after that, a team showed up to install the rest of the yard overhaul. I was never called ahead of time that the crews were going to show up. Here is where the main problem happened. There was no prep done on my yard, a yard that completely ridden with weeds. The crew used a weed whacker to knock the weeds down but every one of the established root systems remained. Sodded and mulch were laid down right on top of weeds. The plan established by Ned was never completely accomplished because he was never there to oversee our plan. For one week, my new yard looked great. Then the weeds began to show through... everywhere. I called Ned. I told him that for the money I was spending, I expected the job to be done right, the first time, and last for longer than 2 weeks. He said he would come by and figure out what to do to make things right and leave me a voice mail telling me what was to be done. He never called me back. Not only was the job not complete (mulch missing in areas), I was not called back about the terrible first attempt. I called the office about the non-call back and they sent Pablo, the forman, to come out to the house. He came out and agreed that the yard looked terrible and would come out that weekend with the crew and clean the place up, put down week killer, and remove some shrubs. Pablo didn't show up, and they again weed whacked the weeds, sprayed, but did not remove shrubs or lay the mulch where it was needed. Then I got a bill for 1300 over the estimate plus a late fee. I called and spoke to the manager and she figured out the bill and had a team come back to remove the shrubs. I have since spend every afternoon picking dollar weeds from every mulch bed, spraying in every area for weeds, and fertilizing the Sod. I feel that the customer service I received, combined with the work done does not match what I paid. I have never been a customer and treated worse by a company. I was treated like I was very insignificant. It was unbelievable to me that they would not remove any of the weeds before putting down the new lawn. This showed me that the company did not care to do a good job, just a quick one. Terrible overall.

Technician was punctual and very professional. He also is very good at his job. Troubleshooting an electrical issue with an irrigation system is not an easy task. He had a very good knowledge of the system and a very good approach to the troubleshooting. He found and fixed the problem with minimum time, effort, and disruption of my landscape. Also, the sprinkler heads were replaced without damage to my landscaping. The only thing keeping this rating from an "A" is the office/telephone staff. They are extremely unresponsive, un-knowledgeable, and bordering on unprofessional.

The landscape architect (his business card said so) did come to look at my house/landscape, but DID NOT provide an assessment or conceptual plan as advertised in the coupon. Stay away from these guys! I did not join Angie's list for the purpose of writing this review, but probably should have years ago. I have had them taking care of three properties for me over the course of the past four years. They are good at promising to fix things and stringing you along. One was a completely relandscaped Design/Installation/Maintenance project which they botched from the very beginning with the selection of the wrong materials which they themselves readily admit were wrong but for which they refused to take responsibility. The list of bad, erratic and unsupervised work is quite long, so I'll simply say that my experience with them has been lengthy and broad-ranging, and quite miserable.

My experience with this company was a complete disaster. There's so much to tell this is the short version. At first it seemed like things were going smoothly. I worked with their landscape architect to build a plan. I had most of it thought out and sketched on paper so just made some tweaks and got a price quote. Prices seemed high but I thought if everything was done professionally and plants are guaranteed it might be worth it. So broke up the plan into 2 phases so cost wouldn't be so bad up front. Signed contract on 12/12/2011. That's when it all went down hill... Said they were pretty booked up but planned to start week after Christmas. Showed up with a bunch of small, dead looking plants, the two palms, and 4 guys who didn't speak any English, and a hand cart. Used a dump trunk to drop off the palm trees and ran it into the telephone pole in front of my house knocking out electricity for the entire street and my cable lines. No internet, can't work so spent the rest of the day playing supervisor to the crew since the company had not provided one. Dropped one of the palms on my custom designed stamped concrete driveway and took a chip out of it with the hand cart. Why they were using a hand cart I have no idea. Called and called the landscape architect that I'd been working with and the main company phone number but no answer and no callbacks. Can’t communicate with the workers because they don’t speak English. Was so frustrated ready to kick them off my property for fear of further damages. Finally, the foreman shows up around 2 in the afternoon. Assesses the damage and promises to have everything fixed promptly. Electric company shows up shortly and fixes the electricity. Can’t fix my neighbors cable poor guy he spends the rest of his day on phone with Cable Co. Also, have strange wires hanging down in front of my driveway but Electric guys say that’s the Cable Co guys’ job. They finish the plantings and finally that day is over. I’m really wondering how these sad looking twigs are going to turn into Hydrangeas and how long it’s going to take these tiny dried up Agave plants to look nice again. The next week they come to do mulch and stones. Mulch is the weirdest stuff I’ve ever seen. Pieces of wood big enough to use a logs for the fireplace and all kinds of random junk in it like pieces of garden hose, Styrofoam, metal, etc. I call them up and ask they put on my yard. It’s the recycled stuff and they will have some guys come out to clean it up a bit. Few days later they do, but now most of the mulch is gone too. Just a top dressing over the dirt and weeds beneath. Yard looks terrible. So much for a professional landscape job. Next week I get the bill. Strange $550 charge on there for miscellaneous. I call about it and apparently when I asked about trimming one of my existing palms trees while they did the new ones and they said they would do it “for a little extra” I said okay. A little extra is $550? For trimming a palm tree? Not only that the guy on the phone gets very defensive and raises his voice with me. Really? After all I’ve been through on this job and now this? Incredibly unprofessional. Weeks go by I have strange wires hanging in front my driveway and a chip out of the concrete. I start calling the company on a weekly basis and same story every time. They called the Cable Co and they are supposed to be taking care of it. And there is a work order in the system for the concrete and the palms that were supposed to be trimmed. Now it is March and still making the weekly call. 3 Months have gone by and still strange wires hanging, and chip out the driveway. Out of the blue we come home to find the Cable Co finally fixed the wires. A week later, we get a couple guys come over and fix the concrete, OK. A week later, another couple of guys come to trim the palms. Instead of bringing a chain saw they have a little hand saw. Pretty much make a mess of the tree trunks for a while until I tell them to let it go. After all said and done I have a yard that looks terrible. Weeds all grown through the mulch, needs redone. Half the new plants are dead or barely alive. I’ll definitely be calling in my guarantee. Can’t wait to see how that goes.

Only fair. We really only wanted lawn mowing, edging and bush trimming. However they will only do their service if you buy the whole lawn service that included services such as fertilizing, bug stuff, etc. they would not even comprimise and do that only to our smallish front yard but had to include big back yard in the additional services even though we did not want this. Am looking for a new company for next season. Also biweekly can mean up to 18 days as they do not come on same day of week but rather seem to stretch it out to the longest period possible.

The experience was good. They were punctual and came when they said they would. They also sent me the e-mails as requested. The only thing I didn't like is that they had an action item for work. I wanted them to look into one thing, which was the cost of putting a fire range in the middle of the patio and design options for that. They never got back and that kind of bothered me about them. I had called two companies for giving me quotes and theirs was significantly higher, but that is to be expected since they work out of a high-dollar area.

Called the landscape Company after they performed their initial work to tell them that the crew only laid down about 8 bales of pine straw and I had paid for 24 bales; and the one live oak tree they planted only had abot 20 leaves on it. The Landscape Designer said he would guarantee it but didn't give me any details. I will give the company credit because the landscaper did send his crew back out and finished putting the rest of the pine straw in the gardens. In August, I emailed the landscaper to ask about the guarantee on the tree because it looked dead. The house is a rental house and I sent the renter a check for $75 to make sure she watered the live oak, which they assured me they had done. The landscaper said he would go out and take a look at the tree. Again, I'll give credit where credit is due. The tree was dead so he had the crew plant another live oak tree. After the crew left, the renters called to tell me the tree was "barely" in the ground and it was leaning to one side. I had my husband go out to take a look. He called me to tell me the tree was sitting about half way out of the ground, the root ball had not been stimulated, it was leaning to one side and no stakes installed.

All went well. Service person found and fixed our problem, was very professional and helpful. We did not know we had a leak he found and repaired. We are new to the area and used Angie's List for this service. We were very pleased.
Description of Work: Irrigation system not working and we had a high water bill. System was repaired and a leak was detected and fixed.
I mentioned to my next door neighbor that I was finally trying to restore my little Charleston garden back to its glory days of the previous owner. He suggested that I call Pleasant Landscapes since he has been very pleased with the work and quality of this company. I have always been so pleased with anyone my neighbor suggests that I use, he has not lead me down a wrong path yet. I got the name and number of his landscape architect and gave Elliot a call. Elliot came down to my home, saw the space and listened to my dreams for the garden and made suggestions for the space. He even came up with a creative way to make the narrow walkway back to my garden look wonderful. Before the work started in my garden space the irrigation and lighting systems were checked. The men started work early in the morning, and stayed late in the afternoon. All of the workers were very pleasant and answered any questions that I might have had. Elliot and a supervisor was down at the home pretty much all morning long overseeing the work. The day that they were working on the garden had to be one of the hottest days in Charleston and they just kept working in the heat, and when I offered them bottles of water they very politely refused. They were able to repair the brick planter on the sidewalk and planted new plants to make it look beautiful. For the narrow walkway back to the garden they picked up every slate paver I had and leveled out the dirt before placing them back down, and planted mondo grass between the slate stones. Since my lighting system was not able to be repaired they totally replaced the lighting system, and to my surprise they were able to repair the irrigation system that I could never get working correctly in the 13 years that I have lived in my house. They cleaned out the old garden beds and planted the new flowers and plants. I have ivy in the back garden and they trimmed the ivy to get rid of the jungle look, and pulled ivy that was creeping onto the house from the garden side. On my neighbors side, they totally removed the ivy on the wall so I will be able to have the stucco repaired. I ordered new window boxes for the front of the house since the ones I have are rotting and about to fall off the window ledge. As soon as my new window boxes come in and are installed on the front of the house they will be back to plant new flowers in them and the planter I have hanging on my back gate to make them match. I have had such a wonderful experience with this company I have decided to have them come every week and maintain the window boxes and back garden so it will continue to look as wonderful as the day they finished with the new planting. When I go into my kitchen at night I enjoy looking at the garden all lit up with the new lights. Since the back garden was a mess I used to keep the back gate closed so no one could look in, now I proudly keep the gate open for all to see how wonderful it looks. I have gotten many compliments from my neighbors on how beautiful the front of the house and walkway looks into my garden.
