GREAT job -- nice guy who saw that the cleaning didn't need to happen but a couple of things did need fixing; he fixed them and charged me LESS than the original quote for cleaning out the chimney.

Great! Chimneys did not need cleaning except for animal that had fallen down one and died. Chimneys meet code. Steve charged only for the services performed. Thanks! :-)

I needed to make sure all the chimneys had caps and needed to find out more about a damper or sealing one of them off because hot air was coming into the main living area. He gave a good recommendation and encouraged me not to seal it off because then it would never be usable. Instead, he placed a piece of think insulation on the inside ledge to hold me over until I could get a fireplace door to keep the hot air blocked off. He was honest and could've found ways to gouge me, but he didn't. I highly recommend Steve of Steve's Sweep. He is honest, dependable, punctual, knowledgeable and reasonably priced.

Steve and his helper arrived early and got to work right away. Both men were very polite and respectfully of our home. They even made sure the cat would not be frightened by the vacuum used to clean up the ash and soot. Unlike the sweep we had look at the chimney before and wanted $2800 to repair the chimney that didn't need repairing, he charged $250 for all his serve.

It was a wonderful experience. The guys were here on time and worked hard to repair my chimney and fireplace. Removed fireplace mortar left there from the prior homeowner and restored the fireplace to full functionality. They also repaired holes in the flashing around my chimney. Although we're planning on gas logs for the fireplace, if we decided to stick with woodburning, we would definitely stick with the guys at Steve's Sweep.

There was no charge because there wasn't anything to clean.

Everything went really well and efficiently. They had some time earlier than my scheduled appointment and called to see if I was available. Steve explained what he was doing and answered all of my (many) questions. Both men that came were friendly and professional.

I appreciate that he did this rather than drive 1.5 hours RT and charge me $65 to spend 1 minute to light my fireplace for the season.

I called because our chimney had been leaking and our smoke guard had fallen. As it turns out, we needed 3 chimney caps. Steve told us he could put them on, but it would be much cheaper to go to Home Depot and do it ourselves. He completely cleaned our fireplace and left everything neater than I think it was in the first place. He and his assistant, Eddie, are so nice and told us exactly what we needed to do the chimney caps. Overall, they gave us excellent service, and we'd definitely use them again if we had a problem or for regular maintenance.

I have to agree with the reviewer before me that wished all the people we hire could be like Steve. He was not only prompt but early , card in hand and introduced himself and his employee. He came inside and asked me to show him and describe where and how the water was leaking into my fireplace. He then went outside to inspect the chimney. He showed me exactly where the leak was and that it was easily fixed. He also at that point told me exactly how much the work would cost. No waiting until the end and being presented with some inflated bill. His price in my opinion reflected his honesty in both the work he does and how he runs his business. He then came back inside to inspect the chimney area in the attic. He found some area's to be sealed and fixed them too. He told me to please call if I have any questions or concerns. I am very happy with the job done and am very happy I checked out Angieslist before I hired someone. His reviews are all good and I am happy to add to the list of happy customers.

Why can't they all be like Steve? He was 15 minutes early. It is sometimes difficult taking time off work and I very much appreciate it when a service provider is not only punctual, but a little early. He honored a quote he gave me nearly a year ago, to the penny. Offered great overall advice on deciding on whether to switch from gas to wood burning. Professional personality to boot. Would definitely use again. In a heartbeat. Very impressed.

Steve's Sweep showed up on time and did a chimney inspection. Told me our chimney did not need cleaning and we could start using it. Explained chimney was in good condition and there would be no charge for the inspection. Very polite gentlemen.

Old liner had hole, allowing the insulation used "back in the day" to pour into the pipe, making it unsafe to use.Flame/smoke could have reached the attic area through any damage that may have been in the brick portion of the chimney. (It was an old chimney which is why we had it lined years ago to start with) Steve had to remove the pipe and all that insulation - it was a vermeculite type material.Water had gotten into the insulation material, turning it into an nasty clay type mess in spots that wouldn't let the old liner be removed. First attempt was impossible - had to close off top and allow the goop to dry out some. Hard to describe it, but imagine something like partially hardened heavy duty grease. The wet areas were holding the old liner like quicksand. It took several weeks for the mess to dry out enough to work with. When he returned, he pretty much had to chisel a lot of the stuff out, sometimes a handful at the time. I honestly think a lot of people would have given up, but he stuck with it and although it was rough going, took a long time, he got the job done. Pipe from the wood stove itself into the liner were replaced with high quality ones and look great, much better than before. The chimney liner itself is a high quality solid pipe instead of the flexible ridged type that was used before. He inspected the stove itself, did some resealing and even touched the stove up with heat resistant paint. One the job was done, he and his helper cleaned up what little mess there was and hauled away all the old materials. We used the "new" setup for the first time during the cold snap in January 2015 and it works GREAT. I HIGHLY recommend Steve's Sweep. They are professional and courteous, and he explains everything, answers any questions you have. He uses quality material, does quality work and is a great person to do business with. **NOTE The damaged liner was discovered when he came to clean/inspect my woodstove and chimney. My damage was such that it could have caused my home to catch fire. PLEASE make sure to have your chimney cleaned and inspected regularly.

Beyond excellent. We thought we needed the damper replaced but he explained the gaps were normal (and weren't holes) and we had a nice glass doors front that seals better than dampers. He explained everything in advance, made his recommendations, and began the work. Steve and his assistant Eddie were great. They had very expensive equipment that kept everything out of the air as he cleaned. He cleaned up appropriately and made recommendations for future usage of building fires, etc. Highly recommend to everyone.

Everything went well. Steve showed up on time and explained what he did. He could have immediately tried to charge me a high price to replace my chimney topper like another person attempted to do. Instead he opted to reseal the chimney and see if it eliminated the leak. It did! I'm glad I contacted Steve and did not give more money to the other guy. Steve is TOPS not the other way around.

Steve and his assistant arrived on time. We recently purchased our home and weren't sure what the exact condition of the chimney was. They did the inspection and found that it was very clean with a new cap. Steve didn't try to sell us services we didn't need. He was friendly and outgoing. Provided great recommendations about where to buy fireplace accessories and wood for burning. Would highly recommend!

Hired Steve to clean our chimney before installation of a new gas burner - he arrived on time and completed the work with no problems. Used proper protection to protect my home and did a great job. I would definitely use Steve again - great professional service and very fairly priced! Thanks!

Steve showed up right on time. He took every precaution to protect the carpet and surrounding area. He left the house just as clean as when he came. He did an excellent job and even sanitized the area he cleaned because he removed several bird nests. He is extremely professional and courteous. I didn't ask other providers to quote the job because of the small financial investment. I think the price was more than fare and consistant with what I feel the the market price is. He also does duct cleaning as well. I would recommend him highly and would certainly do business with him again.
