Description of Work: Checked on two fireplaces, did a partial sweep and installed chimney tops.

Description of Work: I called them about 12/14 to get them to come out and inspect and clean my fireplace and chimney which we had never used since we bought the house over 20 years ago. Steve explained clearly upfront the charges, one of which was $65 to come out and do the inspection (they did not give free estimates) but IF they found that the chimney/fire place needed cleaning they would apply that to the cost of the cleaning which was $115, AND I would get a Letter Certifing the state of my fireplace chimney. I agreed. They were supposed to get her at 10:30am and they were here on the dot. They got right to work looking at the fireplace and answered a couple of my concerns about some black streaking on the exterior, and some concrete coming out from the bricks, and about how far the chimney flashing should come out to prevent staining. When Steve started looking at the fireplace he saw I had gas logs, which I had forgotten, since I never used the fireplace. He asked if I wanted to keep them or have them removed. I had just read on the internet that gas logs could really help the efficiency of your fireplace....so I said keep them (though I don't have a gas tank on the outside of my house.) Steve said, well then you need a gas certified plumber to make sure this is working right, and you need someone to deliver fuel to you...but I can't do either of those things. I can remove them so you can use wood again. I can clean them so the gas will burn right...but until you know if they work and you want to keep them I am not much good to you. I considered having him take the logs out, since I knew I had agreed to pay $65 no matter what; but he told me the logs could cost a good deal...so I told him thanks and who to make the check for $65 out to. He told me, don't worry about it. Call me if you need the logs or the fireplace cleaned, but even now your fireplace doesn't look like it has much build-up on it. THEN I asked about cleaning the dryer vent. He said that was $85. I showed him my dryer vent and since it was only a foot long, he cleaned it out and charged me NOTHING!!!!! Wow! What a kind man. I would feel safe in hiring him for anything at whatever price he quoted, as my opinion is that this is an honest man, that does a good deed when he can.

Description of Work: Swept fireplace, smoke chamber & flue. sealed various cracks in the firebox with high heat mortar. also gave in writing that my fireplace met all applicable codes. measured for stainless steel chase cover, ordered it and it will be installed -- gave date & time (just a few days away).

Description of Work: Stopped a leak caused by the roofer's improper installation of flashing around the chimney, put a cap on the chimney, and cleaned out the chimney so that the damper would open and close properly. Also he reinstalled the firebrick in the fireplace where the gas line had been installed.

Description of Work: He put a cap on my chimney. The chimney was leaking and he came out earlier than promised and fixed the problem. He also, without cost, cut down some tree branches overhanging on the roof and checked out the inside of the firplace. Definitely did more than I expected for a very reasonable price.

Description of Work: He was able to come in 2 days, arrived on time, and was very fair in his pricing. I called to have my chimney cap replaced and chimney inspected. He said he would recommend cleaning it before use, but did not push his service. When I asked if he could do it all that day, he was able to. He also noticed several other issues, such as cracks in my mortar, and did not charge extra to fix them. he also gave me valuable information about some issues pertaining to my chimney and roofline not meeting properly where birds were roosting, that if left unrepaired could have caused serious future issues. I was very grateful and would highly recommend his service.

Description of Work: clean and inspected fireplace at my residence and my mother-in-laws. I was told my fireplace had never been used and was approved to burn either wood or gas logs. I planned to use the fireplace to burn wood so a cement patch was applied to the firewall where a gas access pipe was previously installed. at my mother in laws, the fireplace was inspected and cracks were discovered in the firewall's, they were repaired and the chomney was complely cleaned and inspected

Description of Work: Annual Chimney Sweep. Steve certainly deserves the A rating he has. He arrived promptly at 8:30. We hadn't had the chimney swept in two years, so I thought it was time to get it done. Apparently, our chimney was pretty clean. Steve was completely honest about that, and just sealed a few cracks. I did have to pay for the service call, but that is far less if he'd gone ahead and charged me. I appreciate a business owner who is punctual, and honest in his dealings. You can't go wrong with Steve!
