Description of Work: Tom had done some excellent work for me a few years back, so I called and set up and appt for him to come and give me an estimate on two or three weeks ago. He did not show nor call. I called and left a message that evening for him to call me to set up another appt, because things do happen. As of this date I have yet to hear back from him.

As far as I know all was done correctly.
Description of Work: Installed dishwasher and fixed shower
The interior painting went OK. Looked good on walls and ceiling. Discovered with time that clean-up was poor - we had little spatters on the wood floors, fireplace surround, etc. Wood floor refinishing was quite nice. Ceiling fan installation was never completed. We had to hire someone else. Electrical work was never completed - we had to hire someone else. I discovered some time after the recessed can lights were installed that a less expensive type of can was installed that canot be used with insulation. That is, they are not designed for use, for example, in rooms below attics with insulation. Guess what - we have insulation. So they just pulled the insulation back. Since we live in a warm climate, this is very energy inefficient. We still had several jobs (agreed on in original contract) remaining when the contractor disappeared. He did not respond to repeated emails or phone calls. The contractor left an 8' ladder and a box of electrical parts at our house. We left several message informing him of this; we never got a response. All in all, a very frustrating and disappointing experience.
Description of Work: Internior painting - 3 rooms (walls and ceilings, no trim). Began installing ceiling fan (did not complete)In Installed recessed can lights Repaired attic access pull-down ladder Refinished wood floor - one room

Everything went great, very pleased with work. Tom made several suggestions on the layout and design of the new kitchen which improved work flow and increased the overall space in the kitchen. Tom is very knowledgable with techniques to fix/repair home problems. He was able to correct a serious problem with the alignment of the front door which was originally installed by a builder way out of square. He encountered several unanticipated problems during the kitchen remodel that he was able to find solutions for and was able to make the necessary repairs without passing on the additional cost for the work. Tom provides a very detailed estimate of the work to be done with associated cost. He was. Very receptive to making changes / additions to the work as th e project evolved. Tom is a very personable person who was easy to work with and was able to offer several suggestions to improve the planned work. Although the work took longer than originally envisioned, that is to be expected in this line of work. His performance was much better than the typical response time for work completed on Hilton Head Island. There is a saying down here that work gets done on Island time, which is notorious for being slow. Tom performance was much better than typical for the Island. His crew did an outstanding professional job on the installation of the kitchen cabinets considering the condition of the existing walls and ceiling (everything was not originally square and true).
Description of Work: Complete remodel of kitchen, plumbing' electric, installed kitchen cabinets, recessed lighting, ceramic tile workt, coordinated granite counter installs, recommendations on kitchen design, repair/replacement of ceiling joist, removal of popcorn ceiling, painting, trim work and general house repairs.

Home Services did my renovation and then did the inspection punch list in a very economical way. There were many ways in which Mr. Cramer kept prices down with a repair rather than a replacement, used materials he had on hand rather than buying new materials at my expense and charging me only for what he provided. The work was done in a timely way.

After second time calling him and no return call, I could only assume he wasn't interested. If so, that's all he should have said.
Description of Work: He didn't do anything. I couldn't get him to call me back.
Original projected completion date was a bit optimistic (although I expected that from the start - they always are). Work was done in a very timely manner except for a couple of delays based on availability of parts for things which came up unexpectedly (fuse, shower door). As I said, Tom was very willing to offer additional services such as hauling electronics for recycling (this house was left with lots of left-behinds by sellers as it was a short sale) and helping me to find like-new appliances at very reasonable rates which he installed for much less than the big box stores charge. His estimate was extremely detailed, with line items for each service or item. Other estimates I received were grouped in such a way that making decisions about any possible changes to the scope of work based on cost was impossible. As each draw was paid, I was provided with an invoice indicating which items were completed and including clear indication of cost for any of the items we added after the original estimate. The house looks gorgeous.
Description of Work: Complete renovation on a 2200 square foot home with some repairs. Paint, pressure wash, steam cleaning, floor tile and grout cleaned, carpentry, faucet/drain replacement. Work area was very well prepped and cleaned. Work was very high quality, and Tom provided additional services beyond the original scope of work at very reasonable prices. Paint estimate was higher than other vendors who bid the job, but the outcome was excellent.

Excellent work....in and out in less than a day. Cleaned up after themselves. I would not hesitate to hire them again. I keep his business card in my wallet.
Description of Work: We had purchased a HUD home in Bluffton, SC. The prior owner had abandoned the house....but had taken all the kitchen cabinets off the wall and they were wrapped up for shipment elsewhere. There were two commodes missing from bathrooms and a bathroom with a sink and vanity missing. Tom and his crew came in and resolved everything within a day. They were professional. We were very satsified with the work and the cost.

From the start, Tom made sure that we understood the scope of the project we were planning to take on and was always realistic about time frames and costs. We purchased a house that was in dire need of minor repairs and major interior renovations. We worked with Tom to prioritize the things we wanted to do while keeping our budget in mind. With Tom's help we were able to stay within budget and get the entire project completed in good time. During the project we were away from the house but we kept in touch with Tom continuously. He was always responsive and when decisions had to be made or issues arose he was always on top of it and would clearly explain options before just moving forward in a direction that we might not agree with. We visited the house a few times during construction and were very pleased with the professionalism of his crew and the care they took with our home. We had a decorator working on the home concurrently while Tom and his crew were doing their thing, and Tom not only made sure that there were no scheduling conflicts but was also available to help when big items started showing up on the doorstep! All of the work performed was detailed in the original estimate, or as an addendum as we changed the scope of the project. Each time we knew the costs up front in writing, and the final cost was never more than the estimate (on one item it was actually a few hundred less once tile was removed and revealed things were not as bad as originally thought). Finally, since the project was a fairly long one, I had the opportunity to talk with Tom on a variety of topics, and I found him to be an honest and down to earth person. I have a few more upgrades in mind once we replenish our coffers, and I will definitely be giving him a call to take on those projects.
Description of Work: General repairs of plumbing, electrical, and structural issues, wallpaper and popcorn removal, ceiling and wall and interior trim painting, interior renovations and remodeling, room addition, carpet and tile floor removal, floor leveling, flood venting and exterior trim repair, tree limb removal and roof cleaning.

had been done, so he simply lied
Description of Work: this is a follow up a previous comment, complementing Mr Cramer, I must now reneg because he has since proven to be dishonest, unreliable, and uncouth. He did work, and it was fine, then he simply seemed to vanish, with doors of mine that he was to work on, and never came back to finish other projects, never returned numerous phone calls, and e mails. A friend went over to his house and retrieved my doors, which he had told me were ready for installation except for some large hinges, well nothing had been done, so he simply lied. I have since learned from others in the work category that he is known for having problems,. and is unreliable. So I must warn against using him, or do so with extreme caution.

Started project on time; completed project 9 days late. Contract stipulated a one year warranty on materials and workmanship. Tom Cramer (owner) and his workmen controlled worksite well by covering carpeting to avoid damage, removing shoes before entering the house, and repairing nicks in walls occurring during the work process. Mr. Cramer was helpful in selecting materials and paint color. Although Mr. Cramer and his workers were polite, they rarely appeared on time. Delivery problems with cabinet and mirror delayed project although Mr. Cramer stated during the signing process that all materials would be in his warehouse or onsite before the project began. During the final walk through, we noticed several areas in the shower where the caulking had not been properly applied. These areas were recaulked to our satisfaction. In August, we noticed paint chipped off the wall behind the toilet. When we used the "touch up" paint which Mr. Cramer left for us, we found the color did not match. We called Mr. Cramer at least six times about this problem and finally bought a gallon of the correct color ourselves for $31.45. Sherwin Williams verified that Mr. Cramer had not left the correct paint color according to their records. This situation should be covered under our one year warranty. Mr. Cramer is not returning our phone calls.
Description of Work: Complete renovation of master bathroom excluding replacement of bathtub. Work included demolition of shower stall, removal of toilet, and cabinet to be replaced with new tile on floor, shower stall, and around bathtub, a new cabinet, toilet, and mirror. Bathroom repainted.

Tom Cramer was recommended to me by the Property Management. We couldn't be more pleased with the services he and his crew provided. We had Tom and his crew install all the kitchen cabinets, also put the bathrooms back together again. The cost was extremely reasonable. Tom and his crew were very professional, even taking care to tape a paper runner over the hard wood flooring so as not to cause any damage. Tom had been building homes for a large corporation for 20 years prior to the economic meltdown...he knows his business.Take advantage of his knowledge and his expertise. We would not hesitate to call him again.
Description of Work: My wife and I live in Saratoga Springs, NY. We were looking to purchase a retirement home. We hope to retire in 5 to 10 years. We found a HUD home at a great price and a great location but unfortunately it required a lot of work. According to the neighbors, the previous owners had moved out in the middle of the night. The kitchen had been dismantled with most of the cabinets wrapped in plastic, ready to be shipped. The house has 2 1/2 bathrooms. One was missing a sink. Another missing a toilet. The other two had the counter tops removed, ready for shipment. Almost all fans and light fixtures had been removed. I knew what we were getting into, but the reality did not hit me until we closed the purchase and got into the house.
