These guys are terrific.

We were a new customer and the first contact with Waldrop's HVAC was over the phone and the secretary was very customer oriented and professional. She promptly mailed us forms to get registered and made an appointment within 10 days for our non-emergent service. The technician arrived on time, was very congenial and did the assigned task efficiently and thoroughly. When our air filters did not need changings, he left us two from his truck to use in the future when ours did need changing. He assured me that our system looked good but if any trouble developed, they would promptly come out and fix it. If asked was there anything Waldrops could do to improve their service? Not much, but it would be nice to have the technician call me (1/2 hour or so) before my appointment to tell me if he would be on time or running a little late.

Ken Holcomb was the sales professional and came out to my house twice-once to give an estimate and once right before installation to besure they had everything they needed to to the job and the equipment was properly sized for the house. A second sales professional, Jason Smith, came with him to size the house and he was also professional and courteous. Both times he was right on time. He explained all the options and costs and the available rebates. I obtained several estimates and Waldrop was not the lowest. However, when I called back, Ken re-worked the estimate and brought the cost down to within $100 of the lowest estimate. Based on their reputation, I selected Waldrop. I scheduled a date for installation and on that day the installers arrived on time. They were professional and were very careful not to damage anything inside or outside my house while removing the old equipment and installing the new equipment. They made sure I knew how to change the air filter and run the new thermostat before they left. Waldrop sent me the paperwork needed to claim the federal tax credit on the new equipment. The company submitted all the paperwork to Duke Energy to claim their rebate. I received the Duke rebate and the Waldrop rebate within 2 weeks or so of installation. Everyone I spoke to was professional and courteous and I would highly recommend them. I will be contacting Waldrop to service my system in the future.

UPDATE on 11/3/11 - Good News. I have changed my rating accordingly. Since the middle of September when I originally made this report, Waldrop Heating and Air has been working with us on the issue. They have added extra vents and adjusted airflow, all under their warranty. Even though I know it is cooler outside, we feel their commitment to their product and their installation has made a difference in my view of things, along with the airflow/vent additions. They have already commited for a tech to come out and check on things when the temperature rises again next spring. Overall, I feel much better about the dealings with them since our rough start in August and September. The techs arrived on time the first morning and they spent the first day removing our system, still all according to plan. The second day they came in and ended up leaving early that day, we found out later why, it was because they hadn't pulled a permit for our installation and the inspector shut them down. They arrived late the next morning after 10pm on day 3, I assume they went and picked up their permit. It was finally installed at the end of 4 days and we were told the start up guy would be out on Friday to make sure everythign was right. Original Post Below: They did several things during the install that also made me unhappy. They seperated the dry wall where they installed the return and asked me if I could fix it. The tech didn't know that they had a subcontractor that would fix issues like this. They removed the crawl space door and frame, without telling me they needed to do so. They vented the new furnace out of the front of the house! I had this foot long white PVC pipe sticking out over my flower beds that was really an eye sore. They did fix the wall and they did move the venting and put the crawl space door back, so they did try to make it right, however, this isn't my area of greatest dissatisfaction. The startup guy came in and ran the heat to test it and the following day, Saturday, the system performed as expected. That has been the only day in the 40+ days it has done so. In fact, the next day (Sunday), the system lost 6 degrees during the day. They have been out to check it again and verifty the air flow is as it should be. We had asked the first week to have more airflow to our living room and master bedroom, it took them three weeks to make this happen and while it has helped the situation to a degree, the biggest improvement we have seen is the fact that currently (9/14) the temperatures outside have dropped enough that the house is staying mostly cool. However, it still takes it to past 10pm at night to make any ground on the degrees it lost during the day. Its usually 1am before the house is comfortably cool and that is unsatisfactory. We are tired of fighting with them over it and while we do not think we got our money's worth, we feel there isn't much more we can do and its almost winter anyway. The sad thing is, the old 1-ton unit that was underspeced and 15 years old was doing as good as our new unit is doing now.

Technician came within the timeframe specified and repaired unit. No problems encountered.

Waldrop may be a little more expensive than some of the others, but the $200 / yr. service contract covers 4 inspections per yr. They alway call to schedule service appointment, and their service people are always on time.

I made the call for an estimate after reviewing the company on your list. I described the work for which I wanted an estimate. I was told that they would contact me when they had the estimate. I have not heard from anyone at the company.

I liked them, but they were a little more expensive than what I wanted to spend. They were selling a big brand and we ended up going with a generic system for less money. The gentleman who came to give the quote was very nice and knowledgeable.

We have been very pleased with the unit, and with Waldrop Heating. A very professional, friendly and well run organization. We would highly recommend them.

We spent close to $7000 on that work. We would tell others that they were excellent. They were prompt, kept their appointments and they were on time as far as doing the installation and when they gave us the estimate. We thought that they did a really good job.

They came out the next day as quickly as they could and replaced the part to make our air conditioner work. The folks that work there are always very knowledgeable and they seem to have a lot of experience. When they come out they are quick, they know exactly what to look for, and they know exactly what parts they need. There are never issues with cleanup and they are always careful when they come inside to respect your area. It?s so hard to find a heating and air person that will shoot straight with you but they go above and beyond to keep the prices down, to come quickly, and to fix it right. They?ve done a lot of work for us and they come back without giving you grief to correct the problem if there ever is one.

He was there with the replacement part on-hand and finished in no more than 15 minutes.

Our AC went our only 4 hours after I had gotten my husband home from surgery (about 9pm). We waited until 7:30 the next morning (it was already 77 degrees in the house) for Waldrop to open to request a repair service. I used Angie's List to identify them, followed the website link, and was able to use a $40 coupon for first time customers. They called back around 8am to say a technician should be at our house within 45 minutes and he was here by 8:30. He wore slips over his shoes, was professional, showed us the burned up capacitor, and changed out the part quickly. He had to call to ensure we could use the coupon, which reduced our bill from $193 to $153. We had used a different provider years ago with our first house and Waldrop exceeded our expectations and I would certainly recommend them and use them again. I was tempted to give them a "B" on price because the technician had to call the office before he knew if he could accept the coupon but I believe their prices are in line with other service providers, so because of the the coupon I gave them an "A".

He did a great job and I would highly recommend them. They were very punctual, cleaned up after themselves very well and the pricing was extremely competitive for the value. I spent about $7500 on that work.

They were friendly, efficient, affordable and FAST!! The summer heat was on and they were stretched to their limits, but they showed up on time as promised, and finished as promised with no problems.

They provided an estimate of the unit needed, gave several options within our budget, and performed the work quickly and efficiently. They also beat a competitors price for the same unit by several hundred dollars and fixed the furnace already there for the same price. The competitor tried to sell me a new furnace and said it couldn't be repaired. It is still running without problems 8 months later.

They charge me on a yearly basis. They are very dependable and seem to be knowledgeable. They keep their appointments and they are very efficient. I think they are kind of expensive, but they are good. I might change because another heating and A/C company has made an offer to me for $100.00 for next year. So I will probably change to save $50.00. I have used them before and they are good.

They are reliable, responsive,and I would recommend them to others.

Service technician explained the problem and corrected it immediately.

He came when he said he would and he was polite and had a neat appearance. The air conditioner works very well now. He took the old one away and cleaned up after himself. I would rehire them and recommend them to friends.

We have an annual contract with Waldrop & they come every 6 months to make sure everything is working. We also get 10% off if anything goes wrong & we have to pay for it.
