Great service. Work was done as scheduled. Easy to schedule. Very reasonable price. Only issue is that I have to clean after since worked was done outdoors on a rainy day.

Mr. Griffin was very helpful in getting the work done ahead of schedule and in providing suggestions that helped me optimize the project. The workers that came and performed the actual trenching and electrical were also highly professional and exceeded my expectations. With all of that said, Mr. Griffin was also lowest bid. I will call him next time I have a project.
Description of Work: We added a line from the garage to new electrical fence and gate opener at the foot of our drive. Work included trending over 180 feet, wiring, addition of an electrical socket on post at end of driveway. It is the kind of project where you need an electrician and often have trouble finding anyone who wants to to the work.

Very pleased that they completed our list, did an extra project AND cleaned up after themselves.
Description of Work: Purchased 8 hours of time - had a list of projects we hoped to have started but never thought there would be time to have all of them completed in the allotted time. Two electricians arrived on time and went right to work - installing exterior motion activated lights, tracking down the reason a closet light did not work, and installing an exterior outlet. These gentlemen completed all of these projects plus had time to wire up two ceiling lights for our crawl space.

Mike called promptly and set up dates and times, and the guys called before they came. They were friendly and efficient, and answered questions while they worked. I had made a trip to Home Depot to buy all the things they needed, and I was amazed at how much they accomplished in 4 hours. I have a few more little projects, and have already set up a return visit.
Description of Work: I used the Angie's List coupon for an "Electrician for a Day." I needed several things done in my new home. The guys (Buzz and Chris) repaired the dryer outlet, made a change to the bathroom light switches, installed 4 can lights in my kitchen (removed the old fixture and covered the hole), installed 4 ceiling fans, and hung a pendant light over the sink.

Mike was very responsive. In fact of four providers that I called from Angie's List, he was one of two to return my call and the only one to provide a free estimate. He was able to come out that day and was able to perform work the following week. Mike came out with his son, Buzz, who did the work under Mike's supervision. They corrected the wiring in our shed by installing conduit and installed a 30A RV outlet on the exterior of our home. Mike and I are in disagreement as to whether he was shown the existing circuit panel during the estimate, but I was not home and my wife could not help them locate the panel, so they performed the work "hot" as she described it. I came home and everything appeared to work, until I put full load on the RV. The 20A circuit breaker then began to shut off (as one would expect). Buzz had to come out later and install a 30A circuit breaker. In the end everything works. The first issue, is that I did not receive or ask for a written estimate. This would have shown whether or not Mike and I had talked about the need for a 30A circuit breaker. To me, a non-electrician, this is only common sense if you're installing a 30A outlet for an RV that clearly has a 30A plug. The fact that they couldn't locate the breaker initially, is troubling. I know I showed Mike the breaker panel. (We have two in our home.) It is my recollection, that we were charged slightly more than we had agreed on, but I'm not too concerned about this; however, a written estimate would have made this clear. What is really at issue, and the reason I would not use Griffin Electric again is Buzz is not professional. During his initial visit, my wife described his attitude as "surly". At one point, he made a comment about how we run our farm, that had nothing to do with his reason for being there, and which really upset my daughter. (He suggested we shoot our dog with a BB gun to deter her from chasing our goats.) When I called Mike to have them come back because the breaker was tripping, Buzz came with his apprentice. It was clear from the minute Buzz stepped out of the truck, that he didn't want to be there and that this was an inconvenience in his busy day. He didn't take time to listen to things that I said and as a result made inappropriate replies to several of my statements. After looking in the RV to explain what was causing the trip, I took him to the breaker panel. He immediately pointed out that the circuit was running off a 15A and 20A breaker. (I knew this; that was part of what they were supposed to do.) At this point he said something like, "Let's fix this crap!" and sent his apprentice off to the truck for a 30A breaker. They quickly installed the new breaker and we tested it. Buzz's bad attitude was nearly continuous. When we were satisfied that it was all good, he walked back to the truck and wrote out a new invoice for $150+ and then followed me into the house to get his payment. I asked him why we were paying for something that should have been done in the first place. At this point we called Mike, who agreed that we should only be charged for the 30A breaker. So I wrote a check for the amount and they left. I called Mike back later to describe my conversation with Buzz and his surly disposition, and Mike was understanding. (My wife mentioned that Mike had to speak with Buzz during his first visit as well). Mike plans to leave this business to his son. I do not think Buzz will be able to maintain clientele. Buzz approaches customers as people who owe him something and who are wasting his time. Next time, I will find another company to work with.
Description of Work: We had a 30A outlet and circuit installed and some wiring in our shed corrected to meet code.

Response from Griffin Electric
it was a simple inexpensive job that went from bad to worse because of the lack of attentiveness of the customer and the fact that he assumed more than we talked about. Also the fact of his displeasure by not being there to over see the work at hand to prevent misunderstanding and being biligerat about it. sorry it turned out that way. I AND i would never work for him if I had know the outcome.

After discussing the location of the sprinkler lines in the yard, they got to work digging near the lines and trenching the rest. They ran the wire in PVC conduit, installed the service panel in the shed, connected to the main one in the garage. After completion, they filled in the trench and cleaned up. I did the connections inside the shed myself. I am generally handy but would call Griffin again for a job I don't want to do.

Griffin Electric was great to work with. They came to give me an estimate the day after I originally called, and we had the work completed about two weeks later. I purchased my own lights and housing, and they were available to me during this process. I sent pictures to make sure I was getting the right things, and they were very responsive and helpful with this. They were professional, curious, and cleaned up after themselves. The work was priced at a great price, and completed extremely quickly. They were conscience of my dog and making sure he did not get out, asked questions to make sure I was satisfied as the work was being done, and also explained exactly what they were doing and how it works. Their estimate was spot on, so there were no surprises. The only thing I would warn is that they do not bill you, so you are expected to have cash or check on hand as soon as the services are completed. This was a little surprising to me, as every contractor I've worked with has typically given a net 7 to pay the bill. No problem with doing it that way, just be sure to have checks handy or to get cash before they come. Highly recommend them... you will not be disappointed!!

I would definitely recommend Griffin Electric. They were courteous, fast, efficient and affordable. I will be using them again if I need electrical work done. They are very trustworthy. They fixed all the items on my list without any hassles. They are a very experienced family owned business that takes pride in what they do! Here is what they fixed for appx $220: 1. fixed our outside porch light that was knocked down by our door slamming into it. They installed it back into the brick. 2. moved over our bathroom light 2 inches so it was centered over our mirror 3. fixed a pendant light that wasnt working in our kitchen 4. checked an outlet that sparked in our living room and corrected the switch that connects to our ceiling fan 5. checked our outside lamp post light that was no longer working Love this company! Great experience!

My wife and I are completely pleased with the work. Mike Griffin and his crew came a few weeks before to give me a quote, and during that discussion I became confident that they "knew what they were doing." They were clear about my options, and also told me some of the challenges they would face in positioning the lights since they could not be certain where the joists and studs in the ceiling were without cutting in to the ceiling. They also were clear that they do not do drywall patching and mudding, so that I would have to do that after the job. They quoted me $900 based on the time they estimated it would take. On the day of the job, we met and talked through the work again. They took the time to measure and mark the ceiling while I was there. They asked me to approve the light placement where they had marked it. I wanted the center most lights a bit closer than they had them, so we talked through that and were able to figure out positioning more to my liking. It took them about seven hours. I could see that they were careful in how they cut the drywall to make my job of patching it fairly easy. They cut out the sections of drywall in a way that let them reattach the removed sections so that I will just have to mud and sand as opposed to obtaining new drywall. Most importantly-- the lights look great. We still have to fix the walls and repaint and replace the flooring, so the room is ugly. But the lights already make it a lot less ugly. We are very happy with the work. I debated giving them a "B" for price, because I had some lower estimates for the work. But, you get what you pay for, and since we were more concerned with a quality job to enjoy for years to come than saving a little money now at the risk of a less satisfactory job, their price was fair. I will call them first for my future electrical jobs. Highly recommended!

Description of Work: Installed two ceiling fans & boxes, where there were no lighting fixtures; re-wired two switches to control the fans, instead of outlets; new switch in one bathroom and removed the "bathroom of doom" light switch in the other bathroom.
