When they came they introduced themselves and wanted the details of my problem. When they solved my problem they asked if I had any other issues they could help me with before they left. Also, made me aware of all the services provided by their company. They went over the bill, which was very fair, gave me a discount for using Angie's list and left.
Description of Work: I had a broken circuit breaker. They identified the problem, put in a new one and made sure all the lights were working. I couldn't have asked for more professional and competent electricians and would not hesitate to call again or recommend to my friends and neighbors.

+ 0 moreWe needed an electrical outlet moved so we could put our TV on the wall over our fireplace. Griffin electric was listed on Angie's list so we called them. I spoke with Mike and scheduled an appointment with him for the job. Mike called a few days ahead to confirm the appointment. Mike and his son arrived on schedule and not only completed the job we talked about but also installed a ceiling fan as well. Mike and Buzz were great to work with and we were very satisfied with the job they did as well as the price. We would definitely recommend Griffin Electric to anyone and will be calling them again.

+ -1 moreThese electricans were unbelieveable installing an outlet in a very difficult location above the fireplace for a TV without making any holes except obviously for the electrical outlet. I come from New York where Electricans have no conideration for damaging the walls as long as their job is easier. Griffin Electric even cleaned up after their work. They were polite and considerate. What a great price, if you are an Angie List member plus we saved additional money by not having to hire a painter. One of the few companies, I can call SUPER!

Description of Work: We had our 2700 square-foot 1920s house completely rewired to replace our knob and tube. They were very familiar with doing such a project and understood the importance of keeping our house as original as possible. We trusted them completely as they were around our infant daughter and babysitter throughout the day while they were working. They got the job done a little later than expected, but we ran into some issues we did not expect. I had a wonderful experience with them and would recommend them to anyone who needs any electrical work done. Especially those who need wiring done in older homes.

+ -1 moreThey called ahead to tell me they were on the way, then arrived promptly. Went to work immediately, accomplished all I had asked, then cleaned up and left. I am very pleased with their performance.
Description of Work: This was my second experience with Griffin Electric. The first time was just after I had bought my house, and he installed several new switches, outlets, and surge protectors including a whole house unit in the main panel. He also installed the wiring and brackets for a couple of flat screen TV's, one of them above my fireplace. I was very happy with their work and the price.On this occasion I had been having problems with my treadmill. The manufacturer claims that the problem is with the house wiring, claiming that the voltage is low. Griffin came out and checked the voltage, then ran several diagnostic tests on the treadmill. The found and documented for me that the problem was not with the house wiring. While here, I had them look at a recessed light that did not work. It was not accessible from the attic as the plywood walkway covered it. He took it apart from below, and found a wire that was not connected. I also had him look at several switches that did not seem to do anything. He found that several rooms were wired for ceiling fans.

+ -1 moreIt was a wonderful experience! The two electricians arrived less than 2 hours after i called. They were both professional and personable. They installed the recessed fixture in about 20 minutes. In total, they worked a little less than an hour and charged me just their minimum charge which is $121.50 per hour for Angie's customers. I just moved here from Virginia two months ago and had an electrician there who regularly did work on my house. They were great electricians who worked at a reasonable hourly rate. It's great to find a similar company here in Greenville since I have additional electrical projects planned.
Description of Work: Added recessed light with dimmer to area above kltchen sink. Added dimmer switches to two other ceiling fixtures.

+ -1 moreMike and his son came out to take a look at the job and gave me a quote within a day or so. We scheduled the work fairly quickly after they purchased supplies. It turned out that my front light had to be replaced instead of repaired, so that changed the price a bit, but no problem. They were on-time and hit the ground running on the job. Tracing the wiring for the outside lights to change where they switched on turned out to be tricky, but we discussed possible changes to the cost and I decided to go ahead with it. They tested everything out when they were done. I was very happy to have all my lights working again and switches conveniently located. A week or two later, my front light did not come on one night. I called Mike the next day and left a message about the problem. He got back to me that afternoon and helped me to get it working -- turned out the GFCI had tripped and I just had to reset it.
Description of Work: My front yard pole light needed repair and I had re-wiring done to switches by my front door to activate outside lights.

+ -1 moreThe load center in the house I recently purchased was about 40 years old. It was completely full, and a couple of breakers were arching...not a good situation. I called Mike Griffin on July 19 to get a quote for having my load center replaced. Mike took quite a bit of time talking with me to explain the process and everything that needed to be considered. He said that the replacement was fairly standard, so he gave me a quote without inspecting the panel. His quote was 'much' less the quote I had gotten from another local Electrical company. Mike scheduled the replacement for Tuesday, July 24 at 9:00 AM. The morning of July 24, Mike called at 08:45 to say that they were on their way. Mike, his son Buzz, and another electrician, Michael, arrived at 9:00 AM, and immediately set to work. In the process of the upgrade, they identified one existing circuit which was wired improperly, an exterior load panel which was wired badly, and found a mistake I had made wiring the hot water heater. They replaced the load center and fixed the other issues in 4 hours...much more quickly than I thought possible. Mike, Buzz, and Michael were courteous, professional (and quick). They really went above and beyond the scope of the quote to ensure that my load center wiring was done right and up to modern codes. I've found my electrician.
Description of Work: Griffin Electric replaced the 40 year old load center in my home with a new SquareD QO load center. They also re-routed one circuit which was wired improperly, and added a circuit for my pool pump.

Description of Work: Based upon what we read about Griffin Electric here on Angie's List, on 07/09/12 we contacted Mike Griffin by phone and explained our problem. He gave us an estimate of $122.50 with our Angie's List discount. The work was scheduled for July 17, 2012, at 9AM. On 07/12, Mike called to say they had a cancellation and could come immediately (10 AM). We said yes and they were here exactly on time. We had our house re-roofed last year and the roofers did something so our attic fans did not work. Mike's two men went up into the hot attic and it turned out the wiring had been disconnected. They appropriately re-connected the wiring and, voila, our attic fans run again!While here the men told us they charge by the hour and since this was so quick and easy for them, did we have anything else they need to do. We told them about a pole light on our driveway that had not worked in several years since we had a landscaper here. They used some gizmo's to trace the circuit, dug up the area where there seemed to be a problem. The wire was not in a conduit and had been nicked by a shovel and shorted out. The men repaired the wiring and installed a new circuit breaker in the box and now the long dormant light works, especially to my wife's delight at night.The men were very professional and friendly and very knowledgeable of what they were doing. Definitely we will have them back for the next electrical problem! We were very impressed that they did not just leave when the agreed upon problem was solved but volunteered to finish out the hour. Honesty lives with Griffin Electric!

They were both friendly and professional, wasting no time to remove old exhaust/light combo from the bathroom (as well as attic), and replace it with the new one we purchased eariler. They finished in about half an hour. They also assisted with instructions on changing our kitchen light (they would have changed it for us, but I wanted to spray paint the mount and hardware).
Description of Work: We had our bathroom exhaust fan with light replaced.

We are selling our house and one of the items on the house inspection report was wires in the electic panel that needed a clamp according to code. My husband called Griffen and explained what was required. They came the next day, on time and had what they needed to fix the problem. Very nice people, too. Would definitely recommend them and we plan to use them for any electrical work that will be needed in our new house.

We ended up going with another company because they had a better price, but we would not hesitate to use Griffin Electric in the future.
Description of Work: We had Griffin Electric come out and provide a quote for installing a new 6-gauge feeder line from the main panel in the house to the detached garage. The quote also included upgrading the sub-panel in the garage and adding one 240V 30-amp circuit. They were responsive but I felt like they were rushing a bit since I had a lot of electrical appliances that were needed to be fixed but they had completed the task that I had asked them to do and they also did a couple of extra plugin receptacle replacements for me. I would use them again in the future.
