When building the deck and the porch he used a different type of wood than we had requested. The wood is now cracking. He also put a floor in our kitchen that is now cracking. The work was terrible. He was very dishonest. He hired family members to help with the work that did not understand the business. I encourage you to run the other way or you will be sorry.

The extrusion and caping which connects the screening to the wood has bulged and separated, allowing insects(wasps, etc.) inside our should be "enclosed" porch. He had told us that he had attended a seminar by the extrusion manufacturer where they stated a mechanic could use staple fasteners but the manufacturer said they never said that insist on require screws. Also, I had asked for composite wood and he told us that he had better wood, and we later had two other carpenters tell us we would have major problems with that wood which is the lowest quality and we are now experiencing wood decay. There are brush strokes in two directions where where the deck was weatherproofed and when we pointed out that the varnish(or whatever finish)manufacturer said you should put on a primer first he argued that they didn't state it and to show these instructions to him.. He read them but didn't make any change to his work.. He also had someone work on a flagstone walkway, and it has many problems as well. They did not slope it as they said they would so puddles of water rest in it and freeze over. It also0 has more concrete than flagstone in places. He has stonewalled when we call him and the 2 times we got thru, under a different number once he didn't make his scheduled appt to return to fix faults at all and it took weeks of calling to get him. It was just a bad experience.
