Description of Work: First of all McCown Co installed a complete new HVAC system in my home in May 2010 for approx. $13,000.00. In July of 2013 I called and reported that the system was not working properly. Technician came out to evaluate the situation. It was determined that the A/C coil was defective and needed to be replaced. This cost was an additional $446.00 since only the parts were covered under the warranty. In May 2014 the system was not working properly again so called to report the problem. This is when the spring PM service should have been performed, but was not done until July 2014. So this time I had to pay a service call fee and leak check fee and recharge fee for coolant because the technician who replaced the failed coil, on a 4 year old very expensive system, failed to tighten up all the seals. Looking for a new HVAC service co.

Description of Work: We use McCown Co. for heating and air-conditioning service. We last used them for a maintenance check. We have been using them for 20 years.

Description of Work: We have used McCown for 34 years, first to install our original heat pump, then to service it bi-annually, then to install a second heat pump and service it bi-annually, and to install a third heat pump a little over a year ago. Their service has been dependably faithful, professional, and trustworthy. They have also been quick to respond when an emergency repair has to be made. We are loyal McCown customers. The price quoted above is for a year service contract, which includes cleaning and calibrating twice during the year.

Description of Work: I paid for a service contract on my heating and Air Unit. The deal was any service needed would be included and parts were extra. The air went out and the service tech. came out. When he left, nothing was done. I had to rehire another contractor to come out and clean the coils and pump it up, then it worked great. I paid for a service and they took the money and did nothing, but leave us in the HEAT! McCown would not refund the service contract money, even though I should them a statement from the other contractor. Now they want me to renew the contract.

Description of Work: We have used McCown for over 15 years for HVAC services. Our original HVAC man retired and we used McCown on recommendation of a friend for repairs. Although our sytem had been installed in 1976 by someone other than them, they treated us as if the system had been installed by them...courteous and professional. Hence, when our HVAC system died in 2005, we got several estimates but liked McCown the best. They installed a new heat pump system including the outside unit and everything under the house except the ducts (which were in great shape). They also checked the house for the right size unit as the old one had always had trouble when temps were either real hot or real cold. McCown put in a unit that was rated one ton more than the old one and with a very high SEER rating for a great price.Our electric bill was cut by 2/3! When the original full warranty ran out, we took out their service contract which is not very cheap but it ensures us great emergency service with thorough 6 month checkups included. When a leaking valve not under warranty failed several years ago, they replaced it for free. When the unit stopped on a cold winter night, they were there ASAP to get it running, again for free. In fact, Mr. McCown himself called us to check on the outcome that weekend.

Description of Work: I bought a Unit "Air Conditioning w/Heat" from McCowen Company. I ordered a unit that was supposed to be 14 seer with air cleaner. I bought the unit in 2004. They were to change the filter every six months. The first person came three months after the Unit had been installed. He changed the filter and I paid for the filter. Before he left he said that the company will change the filter every three months instead of every six months. About five months later another service person came to change the filter. The Company did not give him the correct filter so he made one and was to return the next day. He never came back. I called the company and asked for the same service person two months later. I was told he no longer worked for the company. Another service person came with the wrong filter. Replaced the filter with a green square one and said he would return next day with the correct filter. He never came back either.
