Nathan and crew got it done in a timely manner. They made a special trip over to get some large pots of hibiscus moved indoors before the first frost. They did a nice job of cleaning up our yard and refreshing the mulch. They brought new plants for our planters and did a good job. They were very pleasant to work and will use them again.
Description of Work: I needed some garden beds cleaned, and replanted. Nathan crew got the plants and did a nice job. WeI needed some large pots full of hibiscus moved into our garage. Also, needed some mulch beds cleaned and refurbished.

He gave us some plans and showed us some things and we never received an estimate. After several attempts to receive an estimate, he quoted us for about 20,000. He said he needed 1/3 of the cost up front. There was a little walkway of about 175 ft and that area was supposed to be Flagstone (we provided the material) which he said they could do. I was told by other providers on the job that his people were asking him for advice on how to do the job. I stopped them halfway because we realized the job was not getting done correctly. When I approached the project manager, Nathan, he said they were skilled. I let him know that we needed to put the project on hold because I was unhappy. After the fact, Nathan had come back on the property and attempted to complete the job by filling the walkway with cement so that he could bill me. The walkway is completely two different grout colors. I went back to Nathan and asked for the cost we gave him upfront. He said it would take him a couple of weeks to give me my money back because he allocated the funds to another job. I never received the check after several attempts to reach him. I went to his place of business and he said "I sent you the check in the mail". I received the check in the mail with a receipt. He charged me for 14 hours of un-billed labor. He also had several erroneous charges on the bill and is still withholding money.
Description of Work: We had originally anticipated that he would do a full construction landscaping on our new home. We had been doing landscaping for us for about 7 years.

Response from Celestial Landscape & Design
During our almost 10 years of doing business we have gained a reputation for keeping our clients happy, unfortunately every business has a client that can’t be satisfied. This landscape construction job was a first time experience for us having a client requesting their deposit back due to not having enough money to pay other contractors. We had previously taken care of this client’s personal residence since 2012 and they wanted us to landscape their new home in a private community. We began discussing the project mid-2014 and expected to start Fall of 2014. However building took longer and we had to wait till late in the year. We produced a design the client liked and then an estimate that broke down the cost of the project and scheduled to start it. By the time the project started many labor hours where into the project, traveling to the site multiple times and making design changes each time. When the site was prepared enough for us to begin work hardscaping it was February and the weather was not good, snowy and wet. Despite the conditions we proceeded as agreed. Explaining that I needed a deposit to get started we agreed on 1/3 of total which was $6500. Day 1 of work after I asked for the deposit I was told they needed to get a check from the bank, so no payment. Day 2 of work we asked for payment when they visited the site to view our work, still no payment. Day 3 of work and many messages back a forth he finally agreed to meet and make the deposit payment. His payment was for $6250 instead of the agreed amount of $6500 because they had subtracted some material cost that was not in the estimate to begin with. He also told me that money was tight and they had ran out of “bank money” and the rest of the project would have to be done “out of pocket”. I had some concern at this point about future payments. In addition, I started to become annoyed with additional work that was expected of us but not included in the scope of the work. This included picking up and unloading, by hand, a pallet of stone for another contractor to finish their stone work on the house. This additional work cost me six man additional hours. On Day 4 of work we had planned to finish the hardscaping and begin planting but there was still the need for the Graders to do backfilling from pouring driveway. I reminded them that it needed to be done so we could proceed with putting in the plant material. As we were finishing the hardscaping the client asked us to stop because he didn’t like some details of the work, including grout color and sidewalk size. Later he informed me that the wet grout wasn’t the color they desired, but as the grout dried it matched the house perfectly. With the grout color matching and agreeing to make the sidewalk size change we resumed to finish it once and for all. After some time of thinking about the grading, the client believed I needed to take care of that and they informed me that it was my problem to take care of. I said to them that grading was not in the estimate because they took it out since they had someone else that was going to do it cheaper. Over the weekend and a few days of bad weather, he informed me that he would “need his whole deposit back that day and that they would have to wait a few weeks before resuming since he had another contractor threating to put a lien on his house if he did not pay him”. This was the first time I have ever had a client ask for their deposit back and so I responded by telling him I would give a portion of the deposit back after deducting for the sidewalk work, maintenance he previously owed on his personal residence and the unbilled time I had initially invested for the scope of the work within a week. As promised I returned the unused portion of the deposit (approx. $2300) within the time frame I had promised. During that week he harassed me by calling, texting, and threating me. At one point he came to my home demanding the money by swearing, cussing and being extremely upset at my front door with my family a few feet away. With his outrageous behavior I couldn’t help thinking this man had lost it. He deposited my check and informed me he was not satisfied with the work and I offered to make any repairs but that I had no intention on giving him more money back. I’m still willing to fix the work he says is wrong but he has banned me and my company from his property in the private community and it appears he is just after the money.

Nathan, owner of company, came and gave estimate for irrigation repair. Price very reasonable. It took him several weeks to repair b/c he would come for several hours at the time instead of scheduling a day/days to complete. Very inconvenient for me as I had to be home to unlock gate each time for him to come. I have two dogs and a fenced yard. The pond area also took quite awhile for the same reasons. Sometimes Nathan would return calls promptly, sometimes not. Sometimes he would arrive at scheduled time. More often not. We were very pleased with the completed work and price. Nathan is a very personable young man but needs to work on scheduling, returning phone calls and arriving when scheduled or at the least calling to say about what time he'll arrive. I would use Nathans company again.
Description of Work: Repair and replace portions of existing sprinkler system. Fill in hole from old pond site. Take up existing rock. Rework existing rock wall. Place rocks for paths through area, spread mulch, plant flowers, install irrigation with timer for area. Met me at Patio Imports to buy appropriate fountain for area. Install fountain. Cleared back of yard and hauled off debris.

Nathan has aerated for us for the last 3 years. We decided to replace the grass in the back with zoysia since we have so much shade. He arrived on time with his great attitude. He's such a nice person. He did a good job of removing the old sod and then graded and leveled. The only complaint I have is that he didn't tell me to move my porch furniture and cushions to avoid all the dust. What a mess. Everything was covered. He then installed 1,000 sf of sod. I decided to cover more of the natural areas and he allowed us to go and pick up the extra sod and we did it ourselves to save money. He allowed us to get it at cost. He adjusted all our sprinklers to get maximum coverage and told us how to water to keep it from dying. It's now February and the sod has been great. He chose a perfect variety for our location.
Description of Work: Nathan scraped up old sod, graded and leveled and then installed 2 pallets of shade tolerant zoysia sod in the backyard. He also aerated the front and side yards.
