Fantastic! Scott and his team were thorough and courteous before, during, and after the install. They were fast and efficient. We couldn't be more pleased. We are anxious to see the savings in our monthly bills as the system they installed should greatly reduce heating, A/C, and water heater electricity costs.

Well quite honestly when the guys got here and started testing there were other workers here too.The Carolina Guys were very polite , respectful, and patient as you could expect! I had no Idea that the Carolina testing would be so intricate and tale tale but it was and it was clear even to me that we had big problems. As they were performing one of the test I was inside my home and happened to see smoke in my house. It was because the ductwork was so bad. I am a skeptic of people in my home and I am very Leary of folks getting over on me. I am however a little knowledgable about these matters enough not to be fooled. These nice Gentlemen were always aware that they were in your home and conducted themselves as such. Patrick was a very helpful instrument helping to lift this deal from paper to reality. It was very easy he was a good communicator and he always did what he said he would do to help the situation. Dale, one of the lead installers is brilliant in his planning strategy to get the ball rolling and staying on schedule. The plan from removing the old ductwork and old Heating AC unit and even haul away. Cut and install new returns for the duct work, new electrical box , light, underneath house for new carrier unit new concrete pad outside for new Carrier unit and even new state of Art Thermostat that can be programmed from anywhere in the world via smart phone. We were without AC for four nights . That is what they told us it would be.... Overall it was like we had company over for a spell only you didn't have to feed them!!! Haha
Description of Work: Before Carolina Heating Service themselves did any work for us they contracted Atwood &Son iInsulation,LLC whom I will rate on another whole page. First of all Carolina Heating Services Inc.Performed testing on existing HAVAC system for us as our energy supplier , Duke Power, had suggested. Carolina Heating took great pains and also took their time in doing this testing . We also had other contractors working on other systems while they were there doing their testing. As the testing progressed , we knew that we had some problems underneath our home with the ductwork and our whole Heating AC system itself, we had no idea just how bad it was. After Dale, Patrick, actually showed us some very disturbing news from the assessment of our system, they also showed us our options of what they had to offer and how we could end up on the energy efficient side of this. That was our goal to begin with so we chose to have the Duct work redone and reinsulated including two new returns cut and installed inside the house because the old one was underneath the house! We Replaced the old Heating AC unit missmatched(we didn't know), with a new Carrier 4ton Unit . New electrical work and installation for all of this..we have 3100 sq. ft to heat and cool. After they installed all the new system and got it running right they had to come back and do the testing over again. The old Unit was cooling but it was coasting us arm and leg and eye. I am anxious to see our power bill now , maybe.

Too many issues to explain in detail. 1) pressure tactics to get you buy what they offer at time of quote - buy NOW or not get the deal we are offering. 2) rushed through installation to get the job done in one day. 3) worker asked to use my restroom and did a bowel movement in my house. GROSS! 4) offered a moisture barrier under my house but did NOT do. 5) SHODDY MAINTENANCE SERVICE! During my last maintenance, I pointed out that one heating unit didn't work AND I HAD BEEN SMELLING GAS. Tech recommended I replace the heating unit and gave me a quote, which I refused. He said the smell was probably some residue from the broken unit. Less than a month later, Piedmont Gas came out to check the smell and turned OFF the only heat I had. I called another company. The leak was coming from MULTIPLE torn/broken connections to the working heating unit that any maintenance service should have CLEARLY SEEN. As for the broken unit, all that was wrong was the power switch, a MINOR REPAIR. 6) DOUBLE TALK - ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO REBATES! They'll offer rebates but NOT tell you all of the special circumstances you must meet to actually get that money. VERY UNTRUSTWORTHY! VERY VERY MONEY-HUNGRY AND NOT CONCERNED WITH THE CUSTOMER. I wrote them a long letter, asking for a refund of what I paid for the maintenance service and DID get that. They wrote me a letter, saying they had tried many times to call me an talk to me. I HAD ALREADY TOLD THEM - AFTER TALKING TO THEM ON THE PHONE 4-5 TIMES IN ONE DAY AND GETTING DIFFERENT STORIES, I would NOT talk to them anymore. I wanted ALL communication to be in writing, because it was my experience that what they SAY is NOT what they mean. MY REONSE TO THEIRS: My ORIGINAL phone call??? Which one would that be? AGAIN, after being told different things every time I talked to someone, I was TOO AGGRAVATED to talk to any of you again. Even if I had talked to you, that wouldn't make up for the total ignorance regarding my gas leak NOR trying to sell me a whole new heating unit when all I needed was a new switch.
Description of Work: Replaced an AC unit and some duct work. I bought regular maintainance service plan.

[Member name removed]. Thank you again for your feed back. Back in January I had attempted to contact you 3 times a various times during the day. I left you my direct line and mentioned that I am in as earlier as 6:30 and usually here most days until 5:30. After my 3rd attempt, I sent an email in hope to reach you that way. Your response was pretty adamant about stop calling and you expected us to fulfill your contract. Later we received a letter requesting a refund for your Comfort Club, which as you mentioned we did. I wish we could have had discussions about your original phone call to Carolina Heating Service. My goal was to resolve any issues you had when I had called and emailed you in January. From start to finish everyone we interacted with at Carolina was helpful and courteous. Emails and phone calls were answered promptly, and they worked well with the construction crew building the sunroom. The day the outside and inside units were installed was one of the coldest this winter and the time of installation had to be moved to later in the day because of problems with the electrician. Carolina was accomodating and we appreciated that. The crew ran into a small problem bringing the unit online but fixed that quickly then took the time to make sure I understood how to use the remote and clean the filters. Everything was working and the areas outside and in were clean when they left. The unit is quiet and works very well. Couldn't ask for a better experience so we'll definitely recommend them and use them again.
Description of Work: Norm gave us an estimate for a Mitsubishi unit for our new sunroom and the bonus room on the second floor of the house. We decided to delay the bonus room air conditioning unit but go ahead with the heat/AC for the sunroom. Carolina installed a Mitsubishi split-unit to provide heat and air conditioning to the sunroom.

Replaced the capacitor in my unit...less than 90 days ago. Unit went out again (yep, it's HOT outside) and I called them to report the problem. I was told it would be a $195.00 service call. So that's how you get people to sign those service contracts and pay service fees. I just didn't care for the fact that they gave no consideration of the almost $400 I had just spent. And now that someone else has come out I am not sure we even needed the capacitor to begin with because there was another problem that indeed has been there for a while.

I have tried to reach out to this customer via telephone in hopes to discuss the matter. Carolina Heating Service has an after hours emergency service rate. After hours emergency service allows customers the option to obtain service after normal business hours, on holidays or weekends. This service fee is a bit higher than our normal service hours as all of the cost involved to operate after our normal operating hours do increase. We offer this service in order to provide a higher level of service than most contractors offer after the close of business each day. We ask anyone that wish to obtain emergency services to contact us 864-232-5684 and listen to the prompts as it ask if you would like to be connected to our afterhours service. insI was in need of a new heat pump. My Goodwin, a unit that was only 6 years old, was a leaky POS that was not worth repairing over and over again. I called and got quotes from everyone in the area. Carolina offered a 15.5 SEER for the price of a 13 SEER everyone else was selling. The install was all inclusive, ripping out the old unit and lines, replacing them, installing a new thermostat, changing out the electric box for the unit, etc. The install guys were done within half a day and were nice and professional. I will definitely recommend them to everyone.
Description of Work: Needed a new 2 ton heat pump and these guys delivered big time.

The technician was prompt, very polite and professional. He cleaned all the leaves out of my unit, left an air filter for me, since I had changed mine not long ago, and checked the ductwork under the house. I had also had a problem with my capacitor and he changed that for me. The new capacitor was somewhat expensive, but is guaranteed for 5 years, so hopefully the price is worth it.

Everything went great. Aaron showed up on time was very polite and professional. He spent a great deal of time and looked over all aspects of the system. The office staff was also very polite and a pleasure to work with and followed through completely.
Description of Work: We purchased an Angie's List Deal for a service contract for our HVAC systems. The original deal for $245.00 covered one unit per season. We have three units in our home, so there was an additional charge. However, this company is still less expensive than the company we had been using. They responded within 24 hours of purchasing the deal and set up an appointment. When it was determined that I had additional units, the appointment was rescheduled immediately to allow proper time to service all three A/C systems.

We called Carolina Heating because AC stopped working. Receptionist was very helpful and was able to contact the service person and get us in the same day as the call. Service person arrived on time and was very courteous and professional and explained everything to us. Right away he noticed that the capacitor had shorted out. He installed new capacitor and restarted system and system began to function properly. (labor $85 including the coupon for 10% off, capacitor was $287.00) Then when he seemed just about done, he said it appeared our freon was a little low. Said it would probably only take about a lb, but actually ended up taking 3 lbs. for an additional $198.00. He then said we had a freon leak and it would cost $567.00 to do a leak test. We declined having the leak test at this time due to the cost. He also quoted us $267.00 for a maintenance plan which we also declined due to already having spent $570.50. This is approximately a seven year old AC system. We have only lived here for about 1 1/2 years and have not had the maintenance done that we should have during that time. That said, we also have no idea if the system had been serviced regularly prior to us buying the home. Overall, we feel they did a good job, but would like to shop around with other companies as we are new here and have no one to compare them to and we felt the cost of parts and freon were a little high.

I observed that the A/C unit was not working about 5pm. I looked at Angie's list for recommended repair providers in the local area. Carolina Heating Service was the recommended service. I contacted them about 6pm and the repairman arrived about 1 hour later. He was very pleasant and when I explained the problem he went right to work diagnosing the problem, after about 20 minutes examining the out side unit and then the inside unit he report that the motor capacitor was not functioning. He then discussed the pricing alternatives for the repair. The alternatives were $195.00 for the service call plus $161.00 for the capacitor with a 10% Angie's List coupon from the service call for a total of $336.50. Or, If I purchased a one year service plan for $267.00 then the capacitor would only be $137.00 and the service call minus the 10% coupon would be $87.75 for a total of $491.75. I chose the one year service plan. The repair was completed and the system returned to service. This is the first A/C emergency repair service I have ever needed and therefore, cannot make a judgement about the price. However the service was very prompt and professional.

You need lower ratings; Z or X would be more accurate. They were supposed to do an analysis of the ductwork that they were replacing. The loop and furnace appear to be acceptable However, they didn't finish the ductwork; the boots that connect the ducts to the registers were not insulated. Bare metal was exposed as a result on all the boots. One boot was not even connected to the duct. This resulted in sweating on those surfaces, and all the insulation covering the ducts had water inside. Our house has pine flooring, some of it 85 years old. The floors were damaged and mold grew under most of the house underneath and even on some windows. Discoloration appeared around most of the floor around the registers. When we confronted the owner, he said this was our fault as we didn't clean the filter or call them for maintenance (six months). He further said that the company had tried to contact us, but we didn't receive any message from them. Furthermore, the thermostat has messages about the maintenance dates and we cleaned the filter when so instructed. Additionally, about two weeks after our meeting with the owner, a message came up on our thermostat stating that it was time for our 6 month maintenance. We were instructed when the furnace was installed to monitor the thermostat display for such messages. We are hiring another company to redo the ductwork and remove the mold (around 8000.00 dollars). This was a very stressful experience. Do not use these crooks.,

Being new to the area and new homeowners, we wanted to make sure that the furnaces were clean and would function properly throughout the winter months. The technician was professional and went about his job quickly. We were surprised to find out that the air condition boxes were not included in the inspection though. That would have cost more money. We also found out that had we dealt with the company directly, we could have saved money by simply signing up for a contract for service which would have covered us for an entire year including the air conditioners. We did like the service and the company and do recommend them. We will be using them again, but will not be going through Angie's List to do it.
