Curtis replaced a panel and a hot water heater in my mobile home. I was getting everything fixed in order to sell it, and I discovered that one of the panels had mold on it. It turned out that the hot water heater pan had rusted through and the hot water heater needed to be replaced. The panel was replaced with a mismatched panel that was not approved prior to replacement. The panel pattern that we had was discontinued, however, he was told to get the closest he could get. What he picked out was nowhere near close to the original color or pattern. He also did not put in trim or bother to comment on the fact that the other panel was falling apart on the bottom, which we didn't notice until the plumber came in. He obviously had to have noticed it as he removed the panel before. The hot water heater was replaced, but a cord was damaged in the replacement and due to another issue, we were not able to properly test the functionality of the hot water heater. We had to get a licensed plumber (that we should have probably hired in the first place) to come out and fix a drainage issue before the hot water heater could be tested. However, the hot water heater was not working after that issue was fixed. We had Stan the Handyman come out and he told us about the cord being damaged - which he fixed. Then we had to call Kessler's Plumbing to come out and replace a bad heating element in the brand new hot water heater. He said that it was turned on before the hot water heater filled, which was not something that we did. Meanwhile, Curtis has not returned our call and has been generally unresponsive. However, he has our money for doing a job half way. Steer clear of this guy.

Response from Owen's Construction
We received a call from this client asking us to inspect and repair a wall panel in a mobile home. After removing the panel we discovered the culprit was a damaged water heater. We offered an estimate for our cost for materials plus labor. We told the gentleman that we would locate the best deal for a hot water heater for him as well as attempt to locate a replacement wall panel. After searching local mobile home supply stores we were told his mobile home was out of date and the panel in question was no longer made. We purchased a similar looking panel and transported it back to his residence. After he accepted the look of the panel we installed the hot water heater, cleaned the area, and replaced the panel. We also told him initially that additional panels would need to be replaced but this one was the only on that stood out. I assumed he just wanted a quick fix to see the home because he ignored my suggestions. The trim and border was reinstalled using the nearly a dozen of the same screws that he already pierced through it. There were no damaged wires or I would have replaced them. We have over thirty years of experience and know that a damaged wire would be a liability. After everything was buttoned up it was time to test the hot water heater. We turned on the rusty city water main and what do you know it clogged the water lines half way to the hot water heater. He even said it was no fault of ours it was poor maintained by the city. He paid us without having to as we offered to have one of our experienced plumbers come out to fix the water line. We told him specifically DO NOT turn on the breaker without proper water flow to the heater. He said that he wasn’t very mechanically inclined and would not mess with it. We told him to contact us to resolve the issue as we felt like there was something we needed to do even though we were not responsible for the mistake made by the city’s lack of maintenance. We tried several times to contact him and received no response. He signed the invoice & he paid us without having to. I do not see where we are at fault for anything. I have NEVER received a negative comment about my work in thirty years and I have many clients that will be more than willing to confirm that I am good at what I do. The hot water was under warranty by the way all he had to do is return my call and I could have replaced it for free no questions asked.
